RODRIGUEZ-GAXIOLA, FLORENTINA Ninety one years ago, on February 15, 1922, in the beautiful city of Santa Rosalia, Baja California, Mexico, a child was born to Manuel Rodriguez and Florentina Alarid-Rodriguez. The parents named her Florentina. She was the eighth child born to the Rodriguez-Alarid family. When the young Florentina was only one year old, her parents moved the family to the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. She lived in the town of Angostura, Sinaloa, Mexico for twenty years. At the age of twenty-one she met a young and handsome young man by the name of Miguel Rafael Gaxiola. The young couple married on October 30, 1943 in Angostura, Sinaloa. The couple moved to the town of El Salitre, Sinaloa and later decided to move their residency to the town of Guamuchil, Sinaloa. At twenty three years of age she bore her first child. God blessed the family with a total of eleven children, in order of birth; Celida, Esperanza, Leonor Olivia, Rene I, Rene II, Florentina, Noemi, Ruth, Leticia, Laura, Mavet, and Lucila. At the age of forty three years she became a grandmother for the first time. She had a total of thirty seven grandchildren. At the age of sixty two she became a great-grandmother having a total of fifty great-grandchildren. Lastly, at the age of 84, her one and only great-great-grandson was born. She is survived by her daughters, Celida, Leonor Olivia, and her husband, Apolonio Lopez, Florentina and her husband, Jesus Lopez, Noemi, and her husband, Heriberto Borjorquez, Leticia, and her husband, Efrain Gaxiola, Laura and her husband, Alfredo Lopez, Mavet, and her husband, Miguel Gamez, Lucila, and her husband, Oscar Salazar; daughter-in-law, Susana Gaxiola. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Miguel Rafael Gaxiola; son, Rene R. Gaxiola; and daughter, Ruth G. Guerrero. Florentina is survived by 37 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. ROCHFORD, JAMES JR. James died on January 18th, as of yet, undetermined causes. He is survived by his three children, Evan, nineteen, Ryan, fourteen and Logan, twelve. James is also survived by his two sisters, Amanda Rochford and Pamela Mason; and his father and stepmother, James Sr. and Lynda Rochford. James enjoyed camping, fishing and of course computer gaming, but his favorite recreation was mountain biking at which he developed considerable skills. At the time of his death, James was working for the State of New Mexico's Taxation and Revenue Department as a Computer Software Developer. James briefly attended New Mexico State University, but his computer skills were mostly self-taught; he had an inordinate ability to understand the users' needs, and the technical ability to produce a product that achieved the desired results. James was born in Albuquerque in 1971, and except for his early childhood, which was spent in Tome, lived in the local area. A memorial service will be held for James at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 23rd at the Northdale Baptist Church on Osuna Rd. in Albuquerque. All of his friends and colleagues are invited to attend and, with his family, share any anecdote or memory that they deem special.
ROADY, DAVID PRESTON Age 63, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 in Socorro, NM. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on November 23, 1949, to Floyd and Floy Mae (Lowe) Roady. Dave moved to Socorro at a young age and attended Socorro Public Schools. He graduated from Socorro High School and joined the U.S. Air Force where he enjoyed a career as an aircraft mechanic from 1969 to 1973. He worked as a Civil Servant for the U.S. Government for 43 years at White Sands Missile Range. He loved to fish, hunt, and tinker. Dave always made sure everything was in working order and would fix anything that needed attention. Despite physical setbacks and illness, Dave continued to persevere and carried out his handy man hobbies that he loved to do on a daily basis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-daughter, Michelle Baca-Peralta. Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Jan (Schmitt) Baca-Roady; his loving children, Stephanie Palic and husband, Allen, David Roady Jr. and wife, Christy, Lisa Simpson and husband, Rob, Becky James and husband, Simon; his step-son, Miguel Baca and wife, Mary Lou; his brother, Daniel Roady and wife, Sandy; his half-sister, Michelle Linteo and husband, Bill; his loving grandchildren, Tait Palic, Gunner Palic, Avery Palic, Kegan Roady, Bailey Roady, Kurt Simpson, Haley Simpson, Mitchell James, Haden James, Bradley James, Michael Peralta, Arianna Peralta, Brittany Peralta, and Jessica Baca. RIVERA, ALICE V. Age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. RASMUSSEN, WILLGERT CHARLES Age 98, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1915 to Charles and Mary (Rohl) Rasmussen of Colby, WI. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. PRANCKEVICUS, AL J. Age 67, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, godfather & friend, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013. HANSEN, MICHAEL WILLIAM Age 58, of Albuquerque, NM, originally of Wheaton, IL, born on Feb. 7, 1955, died suddenly on Feb 13, 2013. Loving and adored husband for 29 years of Nancy Elise (Werner); devoted father to Sarah Elizabeth and Elizabeth (Elise) Ann; beloved son to Vivian Cecile (Spencer) and the late William (Bud) Bernard. He was the wonderful brother to Kathleen (Robert) Cinotto, Laura (Larry) Fayfar, Terence (Eileen) & Patrick (Eileen); brother-in-law to Kris (Lynn) Headington, and Bill (Rickey), Rick (Maureen) and Andy (Beth). Loving uncle to 19 nieces and nephews and dear friend to many. Mike served in the US Air Force for five yrs, two of which were with the USAF Thunderbirds. He was well known and highly respected in the aviation industry, which he loved and worked in for over 30 yrs. He was a devoted Christian man with a huge heart. Mike loved everything digital and electronic almost as much as he loved books and reading. He also loved woodworking and hoped to get back to that when he retired. He had an amazing wit about him and his sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. GIELOW, JAMES ALLAN July 29, 1956 - February 17, 2013 Age 56, of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his father James M. Gielow. Survived by his wife, Esther; daughters, Lisa and Jennifer; parents, John and Donna Bridges; sisters, Linda, Brenda, Shelly and Tracy; brothers, Allan and Jimmy; his grandchildren, Carmen and Gavin; his best friend, John Wiegers; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Kiki. His achievements include receiving an MBA, ownership of his own business in construction, his position as Project Manager at B.R. Gordon, and his mastery of many trades (journeyman electrician with his dad, John, metal building, and car restoration). He had a life-long passion for cars and other hobbies including camping with loved ones, car shows with his best friend, John, and let's not forget his pride and joy, Purple Haze, a purple duster that he spent countless hours on and his new Camaro that he had always dreamed of owning. He was born in Marysville, CA to Karmen and Cirila and a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years. Amer was a retired Major who dedicated many years to the Air Force. He enjoyed referring International Volleyball and Officiated for the Olympic Trials. He was a well-educated man who held various educational degrees. BYRD, HARL DALTON The Honorable Harl D. Byrd passed away peacefully in his home on February 15, 2013. Born in Gallup, New Mexico on February 22, 1926, he graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute and later served in the US Navy. Judge Byrd received his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico and was later appointed to the 1st Judicial Court by Gov. Bruce King. Harl was the house council for the Zia Corporation in Los Alamos, NM and also served as a County Commissioner where he was instrumental in having Los Alamos become an open community. In 1957 Judge Byrd joined the firm of Bigbee & Stephenson later becoming partner. He also was a partner with Campbell, Byrd, & Black. Judge Byrd concluded his distinguished career as a Special Master to the Federal Court of Judge Mechem and was appointed Judge Pro Tem to the Pecos River judication. Judge Byrd left behind his loving wife of 63 years, Corona Byrd; children Shawn and Fred Brennan, Virginia Byrd and husband Donn Wiese, Adam and Denice Byrd, James and Tracy Byrd, Mary and Bruce Gordon, and Daniel Byrd. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There will be a Mass celebrating his life at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico at 10:00am, Friday, February 22nd and the Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45pm.
