ARIAS, ALLEN RICHARD Born: January 18, 1932 Died: January 23, 2014 Allen was born in Albuquerque to William Alfred and Yvonne Reynaud Arias. He spent his childhood in Albuquerque, attending St. Mary's Catholic School and St. Mary's High School. He entered the Jesuit Novitiate at Grand Coteau, Louisiana, and received his BA and MA degrees from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He was ordained a Jesuit priest on September 7, 1963, at Lyon, France, where he studied theology. He spent a number of years in service in the Seattle, Washington area, and at Georgetown University in the Washington, DC area. He later returned to Albuquerque where he spent the rest of his life. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, William Alfred Arias, Jr., and James Edmund Arias; and his sister, Arlene Arias Isler. He is survived by his sisters, Yvonne Arias (David) Duer of Richmond, California, and Ellen Marie Arias of Santa Fe; and by many nieces, nephews, and great-nephews/nieces. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:00 AM, in the chapel of Manzano Del Sol Good Samaritan Village, 5201 Roma Avenue, NE, Albuquerque. VIGIL, RAMONA Ramona Vigil, age 82, from Rio Lucio, NM and the past four years from Albuquerque, NM, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on 25 January 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born 10 April 1931 in Llano de San Juan in northern NM to Donaciano and Piedad Vasquez whom she will see again. Her three loving children survive her: Mickey McHugh and husband Mike from Albuquerque, NM; son Orlando Vigil and wife Priscilla from Albuquerque, NM; and Gloria Vigil and companion Bob Wilkinson from Avon, CO. The apples of her eye, granddaughters Melissa Vigil and companion Felix Archibeque, Amanda Medina, and Deirdre Gonzalez and husband Gary. Also the ones who stole her heart, great- granddaughters Natalie, Gabrielle, and Vanessa Archibeque, and Kataleia Gonzalez, all of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving her is her long-time companion Eugenio Arellano of Chamisal, NM; half-brother Adelmo Vigil and wife Orcelia; sister-in-law Mary Vasquez, all of Albuquerque, NM; brother-in-law Salomon Griego of Dixon, NM; and many nieces and nephews who loved her like a mother. Those that have gone before her, brother Benigno Vasquez, sisters Lorenza Griego and Rosa Sandoval, brother-in-law Ernesto Sandoval, and uncles Lorenzo, Benjamin, and Felix Romero. Public visitation is Saturday, 1 February 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Penasco, NM, with funeral services at 10 a.m.; Reverends Steve Daniels and Daniel Castillo officiating. Interment at Vista Verde Cemetery, 4310 Sarah Rd, Rio Rancho, NM, at 3 p.m.; Reverend Jaime Quinones officiating. SANCHEZ, DANIEL EDWARD 1962 - 2014 Daniel E. Sanchez, age 51, a resident of Belen, NM passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 as a result of a tragic auto collision. Daniel was an electrician at the University of New Mexico and had previously run his own business known as Perfection Electric. The business name was of no coincidence. Danny strived for and accomplished "perfection" in many ways. Danny was the perfect friend, the perfect son, brother and uncle; but mostly the perfect husband for Naeomi, and the perfect father for his three children, Magen, Dante, and Candice. He will be remembered as a fierce competitor, excelling in his favorite sport of basketball. He enjoyed attending Lobo basketball and football games, and enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Sanchez; and his mother-in-law, Berlinda Sanchez. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Naeomi Sanchez and his precious children, Magen MiNea, Dante Daniel, and Candice Kamalani. He is also survived by his loving mother, Flora C. Sanchez; father-in-law, Jesus M. Sanchez; and the following eight brothers and sisters with spouses, Dolores and husband, Robert Sparling, Ruby and husband, Doug Lyons, William and wife, Marisela Sanchez, Cathy and husband, Robert Preissler, Carol and husband, Al Archuleta, Gerald and wife, Geri Lynn Sanchez, Francisco and wife, Eva Sanchez, and Ruben James Sanchez. Daniel is also survived by his brother-in-law, Steve and wife, Klaudia Sanchez, and sisters-in-law, Sandra Sanchez and husband, Sean Casey, Bernadette Sanchez-Wright, and Geisel Sanchez. He is also survived by 35 nephews and nieces. Last, but not least, Daniel is survived by his longtime friend, Diane Pena who was like a sister. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a Visitation at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Carol is survived by daughter, Emily Martinez; father, Robert Chenault; former husband, Ron Martinez; uncles Dick Wilson, David (Karen) Wilson; cousins Michael, Ben and Sam Wilson; other extended family, countless friends who loved her so much. Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Wilson Chenault; grandparents Alice and Norwyn Wilson; Grover and Dorothy Chenault. Carol was a 1989 graduate of Highland High School, attended TVI, and worked many years in professional kitchens and the Catholic Archdiocese as a private cook. KYRIAKOS, JAMIE RUTH (NEE JORDAN) Jamie passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014, following a long struggle with chronic illness. She is the beloved wife of Michael Kyriakos, M.D., of Kirkwood, MO; dear mother of Michael of Lawrence, KS, Matthew of Albuquerque, NM and Kelly Kyriakos of Town and Country, MO; loving grandmother of Paula, Alexander, Ellen, Ashley, Caroline and Jake; and dear sister of Edwin & Richard Jordan and the late Jeanette Kelly. Jamie was born in Weatherford, Texas, graduated from Highland High school in Albuquerque and attended both Park College in Kansas City, as well as UNM. She moved to Kirkwood with husband Michael in 1966. There they raised their three boys and shared a loving, wonderful and exciting life together. Jamie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. We all will miss her deeply. KLAR, JON (August 31, 1956 - January 24, 2014) Born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Known as "Big Jon" to family and friends, peacefully passed away after a long illness on January 24th in the presence of family and friends. Jon was preceded in death by his mother; Dorothy Klar, and is survived by his father James Klar; and Jon's siblings, Suzette McKnight, Mark, Jimmy, and Eric Klar. IVEY, DR. SUSAN ELAINE Susan Elaine Ivey, O.D. passed peacefully on to Heaven on 1/24/2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan was born in Albuquerque, NM to Bettye Spearman Ivey and Robert DeWitt Ivey on November 18, 1952. She graduated from Sandia High School. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of New Mexico in 1974, she taught Biology at Highland High School. She then moved to Oregon with her first husband, Frederick Husher, where she attended the Pacific University College of Optometry. She received the Doctor of Optometry degree in 1983. After moving back to Albuquerque she started her optometric practice in Rio Rancho. She met her current husband, Dean Reynolds, O.D. at an optometric meeting. They were married in 1988 and merged their two practices into a new business known as City of Vision Eye Care. Susan was an amazing woman. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and friend. She was an excellent optometrist. In her practice she always took time to get to know her patients and to thoroughly explain their visual conditions. to them. She made friends very easily. Her presence always put people at ease. Susan and her family enjoyed traveling to different parts of the country. They enjoyed many wonderful vacations together. Susan was a religious person. She and her husband, Dean, have been members of Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years. They taught Sunday school together for many years. Susan served as an Elder of the church and on various church committees. In her final days, Susan was asked how she would like to be remembered. She said that she would like for people to think of her as someone who was kind, tolerant, patient, understanding, generous, compassionate, accommodating and supportive. She was all of these things and more. Susan is survived by her first husband, Frederick Husher of Florida; her current husband, Dean Reynolds of Rio Rancho; her children Erin Vaughan and husband Jeremy, Christopher Husher and wife Kim, Jeffrey Husher and fiancee Aubriana Wiker, and Brianne Reynolds. She is also survived by her grandchildren Charlotte Husher and Samson Husher; her sister Vivian Jones and husband Greg; her stepmother Vivian Ivey and her mother-in-law Louise Reynolds. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 11:30 a.m., Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, 1004 24th St. SE, Rio Rancho, NM with Rev. Russell Dykehosue officiating. GUTIERREZ, PAULINE Pauline Sedillo Gutierrez, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2014. Pauline was born in the community of Barelas on February 20, 1932, and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. A graduate of Albuquerque High School, Pauline was a devout member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was a long time President of the Alter Rosary Society. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents David and Jesucita Sedillo; brothers, Manuel Sanchez, David Sedillo and Boleslo Sedillo; sisters, Rosemary Sedillo, Theresita (Terry) Pederson and Amalia Gallegos. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ramon "Monchie" Gutierrez; three sons, Paul Gutierrez and wife Mary, Vincent Gutierrez, Steven Gutierrez; two daughters, Beatrice de Bettignies and husband Bob, Bernadette Derlein and husband Darin; one sister, Irene Barreras and husband Ben. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Carlos Gutierrez, Anthony Gutierrez, Rudy P. Gomez, Alex Gomez, Joseph Barreras and Marcus Barreras. The Rosary will be recited at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on January 31, 2014 at 7 pm. GUETHS, BERTHA &Quot;TISS&Quot; Bertha Carl "Tiss" (Burgdorf) Gueths, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014. She was born on March 3, 1923 in Carson County just north of Groom, Texas to Alfred John and Lorene (Cooper) Burgdorf. Tiss is survived by her husband of 59 years, Chester J. Gueths; children Burma Lynne (Robert) Wood, Gill Gueths, Dan Gueths, and Gwenn (Eric) Bolling; as well as eight grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her oldest son Robin Gueths and her sisters and brother, Ora Lea Garmon, Audrey Anne Machnowski, Shirley Gene "Toy" McNulty and Ed C. "Buddo" Burgdorf. She was a graduate of the 1940 Groom High School class and a telephone operator for Amarillo and the Amarillo Air Force base where she met her husband Chet. They married May 26, 1954 in Raton, New Mexico. She was a woman of many accomplishments that including sewing, baking, oil painting, gardening and working crossword puzzles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at All Saints Lutheran Church, 4800 All Saints Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. DORAN, JOHN JAMES Age 93, , passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 66 yrs, Vivian Morton Doran of Albuquerque, whom he married on Christmas Day; his daughter, Louisa Doran of Albuquerque; sister, Mary Manire of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Rachel Bliss and Anna Mae Janke; brothers-in-law, Roy Morton and Lee Morton; and many other family and friends including many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise Johnsonius Doran; brothers, James, Paul (his twin) and Dr. William Doran; and his sister, Virginia Pennington. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and he was an ordained deacon. He received his Master's Degree from the University of New Mexico and taught school for 35 years in the Albuquerque Public School system before retiring.
