BLACK, CONRAD Conrad Black, age 97, departed us in his sleep at his home in Albuquerque, NM on January 10, 2014. He was born to his 1st generation American to Romanian parents Alexandrui & Victoria Cerghizan on October 14th, 1916 as Constantine Cerghizan in Indiana. At an early age, his father passed away. When he was 8 his mother married Charles Black, also of Romanian descent. He was one of nine children and is survived only by his sister, Victoria Hayse of Indiana. As a very young man, he joined the Army Air Corp and was trained as a pilot. He flew the European Theater for the end of WWII and was particularly proud of participating in the Berlin Airlift. After the Army Air Corp, he joined the Air Force and spent the next 27 years there. He served stateside during the Korean War and in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and retired in 1970 as a Lt. Colonel. He highly valued education and throughout his air force career attempted to secure a college degree but often had to withdraw from various universities due to being transferred or deployed on a flight mission. He finally obtained a master's degree in education post retirement from the University of Texas El Paso where, he and his family moved after his military retirement. He taught high school for 17 years there and after his second retirement, substitute taught into his 80's. He was a beloved husband to Jean, who survives him and to whom he was married to for 55 years. He married Jean and her two daughters, Tanya and Janice. They have two more daughters from their union, Ginni and Cheri. He had three children from a previous marriage, two who survive him, Conrad Jr. and Dan; Donna Sue preceded him in death. He has multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Conrad and Jean moved to Albuquerque, NM in 2002 to be close to their daughters and grandchildren. He was always up for a "road trip" and loved to travel. When he was 90, he parasailed in Hawaii with his daughter Cheri-perhaps he couldn't get enough of being in the air, or he just liked to fly by the seat of his pants. He loved to cook and was a master griller as well as the great admirer of red wine and imbibed in a glass most every night. As he often stated, he was not very demonstrative, but to us, he was a poetic warrior. We will cherish many of his favorite quirky sayings. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and easy smile. He was truly a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by his surviving family. His grandchildren Geer and Nicandra DiRaddo were privileged to have had him in their lives from an early age and loved him greatly, spent many wonderful times and felt his inspiration to the end. His daughters, Ginni and Cheri, were blessed to have had him in close proximity, and he is their hero beyond measure who demonstrated how to live and let go with the utmost courage, integrity, and dignity. All of their lives continue to be filled by his presence still. You did good work Dad. Now it's time for evening prayer!

MORENO, PHILLIP Two years ago our Loving God called you to stand guard on His Heavenly streets. Not a single hour goes by that we don't think about our beautiful boy. We still wait by the front door for you to walk in and ask us if we want to see the "gun show". We miss you son, your laugh, your smile, your jokes, your heart, and the way you used to pull your ears and puff out your face to make us laugh. It feels like just yesterday that you left us. We have had lots of ups and downs in our family but with all that happens we keep you close. Yes, our family chain was broken and a part of our hearts gone, but we have the faith and belief that as each of us joins you that our hearts will heal and our chain will be relinked. Keep watching over us, my son, until the time we are called to stand before Jesus with you at our side. My loving God, please grab my Phillip off the street that he is guarding, Give him a hug and kiss from his mom and tell him how much we love and miss him. Love you son, Mom, Dad, Gordo and Gabby. www.danielsfuneral.com
