HARDING, JOE D. October 24, 1927 - February 5, 2014 Joe Doyas Harding, age 86, of Moriarty, NM peacefully passed away on February 5, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Joe was born October 24, 1927 in Cullman County, Alabama to John Thomas and Vernie Bell Harding. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Joe proudly served his country for fifteen years beginning with the US Merchant Marines serving on the SS Drury Bluff in WWII from 1944-1947. From 1947-1959, Joe served with the First Guided Missile Group "D" 5th Missile Battalion, Niki-Hercules as Sergeant First Class US Army. Joe was a member of the "Ancient and Honorable Order of the Oozlefinch," Ooozlefinchling Gunner under Major General Robert Woods and Major General Sam C. Russell, Fort Bliss, Texas. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Olivia Grace Harding; his parents; and siblings, Wayne Harding, Ada Hargis, Venice Schultz, and Iva Mae Kornick. He is survived by his children John and his wife Loraine Harding, Richard and his wife Dollie Harding, and Barbara and her husband Tom Christian; grandchildren Lawrence and Sonia Harding, Lee and Christy Harding, JD Harding, Richard and Cristy Harding Jr., Angel and Joey Duran, Vernie Christian, and Tommy and Carolyn Christian; great-grandchildren Vincent Christian, Julia Grace Christian, and three on the way (two to be born in February and one due in June); numerous nieces and nephews who he adored and loved; and his loving pet "dawg," Sparky. There will be a Rosary recited on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00AM also at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Lancaster officiating. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Harding, Lee Harding, JD Harding, Richard Harding Jr., Joey Duran, Thomas Christian Jr., Thomas Schultz and Jake Schultz. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.

CORDOVA, ART Age 65, born 11-4-1948, a resident of Albuquerque, was called by our heavenly father on Monday, February 3, 2014. Art loved his four sons with all his heart. Peter and wife Stephanie, Jason and fiancee Lisa, Mathew and fiancee Brittany, and his youngest son Daniel. Art is survived by his wife Dunae and a granddaughter Savannah; one brother Edwin and wife Anita; three sisters Edna and husband Jose Romero, Sylvia Baca, and Jacqueline Mora; and many nephews and nieces. Art was preceded in death by his father and mother, Pete and Eufersin Cordova, and brother Robert (Bobby) Cordova. Art was a diehard Washington Redskin fan. Come join us in honoring his memory, as he always enjoyed celebrating life. He loved to laugh and bring joy to every occasion. We the family will miss him very much. Rosary will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9th at 3:00 pm and Mass on Monday, Feb 10th at 11:30am, both will be held in Old Town at San Felipe De Neri church.

ACREE, JAMES PERRY James "Jim" Acree, 75, of Albuquerque, N.M., the youngest son of the late Elwood and Sadie Acree, passed away at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque on Feb. 2, 2014. Jim is survived by his wife Gloria of 41 years; sons Daniel, Nathan and Anthony (wife Kaylyn, grandsons Andrew and Ryan, and soon-to-be-born grandson Colin); and two brothers Elwood Acree and Edward Acree. He moved to Albuquerque from Covington, KY with his family in 1947. After graduating from Valley High School in 1957 he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1964-1966. After returning from Vietnam, he worked more than 40 years for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 2004 as a budget officer. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and watching sports. He particularly enjoyed watching his sons participate in sports while growing up. The Acree family would like to thank the nurses and other caregivers at Presbyterian Neurology, University of New Mexico Hospital Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice for their compassionate care. In honor of Jim's request, there will be no memorial service or viewing. Cremation will take place and burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

WILLIAMS, VIRGINIA FRANCES &Quot;GINNY&Quot; April 1, 1934 - February 7, 2014 Ginny left us Friday February 7, 2014 to join her beloved husband Walter and son Stacey. She was also preceded in death by her parents Maybelle and Meyer Shon and her brother Larry Shon. She is survived by her sister Sara Lightfoot and by her children; son Scott Williams (Talaine) daughter Sara Fordice (Mark) and grandchildren; Brianna and Julian Fordice, Gabrielle, Francesca, Olivia, Meredith Williams. Virginia and Walter were married in August of 1955 in Las Vegas Nevada. Walter's career in the Air Force took them too many stations all over the world; Germany, Azores, Philippines and many state side bases. Ginny's career in banking services lead her to managing the Safeway Credit Union in Albuquerque, NM. Virginia was very active in the Daughters of the Nile, Queen of the Nile 1989. For many years the Williams' were involved with the Shriners, Walter was Potentate in 1994 with Ginny serving as First Lady of Shrinedom in NM. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Assistance League of Albuquerque and the Shriners Honored Ladies. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ballut Abyad Shrine Center in Albuquerque. TUTTLE, LEON STEWART 1926 - 2013 A good man died December 29, 2013. Stewart grew up Stamford, CT, the eldest son of Leon and Ethel Tuttle, brother of Larry, husband of Dorothy, father of Cheryl, and grandfather of Cristine, He passed away during the early hours at home in Anderson South Carolina from cancer. Stewart's conviction was to be an honest kindly gentle man; he succeeded. He grew up playing football and was an avid NY Giants fan. In 1943, he joined the Navy where he proudly served in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Freestone; he drove a landing craft that ferried soldiers to shore. His ship docked at Nagasaki shortly after the atomic bomb was dropped on that city. After his military service, he apprenticed as a len's grinder for an optician. He obtained his opticians license and eventually bought New Canaan Optician; he retired in 1995. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Mazza upon his return from the Navy. Stewart and Dorothy shared a good life together, until Dorothy's passing in 2008. I have wonderful memories of our family vacations at the lake in Canada with my cousins and winter vacations in Florida with my grandparents. I have such fond memories of family and friends gathering over the years. My father is of a generation of men that is passing. A generation that stayed married, that stayed at their jobs, that were committed. We will miss you. His favorite charity was Paralyzed Veterans of America. 1410 Bryant Road, Anderson, SC 29621

SCHUTZBERGER, JUNE Passed away Friday, January 24, 2014. Despite a lifetime of rheumatoid arthritis and heart problems, June led a very active and fulfilling life. Her career was in the field of education. June grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended Catholic girls' schools through high school and liberal arts college. She earned a Master's Degree of the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II, she attempted to enlist in the Army but initially was rejected due to her heart problems. She persevered and eventually was accepted on the condition that she would sign a waiver to indemnify the U.S. Government against any subsequent problems with her heart. After serving in the military, June held several positions overseas including teaching conversational English to Japanese high school teachers at Amerika House in Hiroshima. She also taught mathematics and English to non-commissioned officers in the U.S. Army so that they could attain the mandated educational level. June moved to Albuquerque from Japan in 1959. She taught 6th grade at Montezuma Elementary School here for ten years and is still remembered by many of her students. She became the first certified teacher of the gifted in the state of New Mexico, thanks to the encouragement of her coordinator, Elizabeth Paak (who initiated gifted education in APS), and Ed Marinsek, APS South Area Superintendent at that time. She was instrumental in developing the gifted program through her role as Methods and Materials teacher for the gifted. Her deepest pleasures were the NM Symphony Orchestra, world travel, duplicate bridge, and the beach, especially Clearwater Beach in Florida where she visited for 44 years. June was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Schutzberger, with whom she shared many wonderful world travel experiences; and by her only child, Dennis Williams. She is survived by two granddaughters, Deanna Torres and husband, Craig and daughters, Maya and Rhea, and Kristin Williams, all of Colorado. In recent years, she has expressed her deep gratitude many times for the support of her neighbor, Mark Kleiner and her daughter-in-law, Linda Williams. June will be missed by her many, many friends. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 17, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. SAIS, EDDIE O. Edward O. Sais: Age 91; Born in Kelly, NM, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2014, Albuquerque NM. Eddie was a beloved brother, uncle and American WW2 Hero. Eddie received the Bronze Star Medal for heroic acts while under enemy fire that saved many lives. Eddie was a very strong willed man, had a great sense of humor, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Eddie is survived by two sisters, Dolores Hoglan (Ken) and Lilli Meek (David); among many nieces and nephews. We will dearly miss Eddie, our Brother, Uncle and Friend. RUNKLE, HERB Age 79, a resident of Albuquerque, was born on February 25, 1934 and passed away peacefully February 6, 2014 with his family around him. MORRIS, ROSSIE LEON SR. went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2014. At age 75, Rossie lived a full life as a brother to Sam, husband to Margaret (Peggy), father of Rossie Jr, Suzie, and Lisa, a Papa to Jennifer, Jessie, Molly, Ben, Jake, and Evan. Rossie also left behind Sharon, Mike, Roxann, and Eric. Rossie was the proud owner of Sundance Automotive where he enjoyed a large extended family. He made his mark in the antique automobile race "The Great Race" and had a passion for circle track racing. He was an active member of Tin Lizzies and lovingly restored Model T Fords. MERREIGHN, DOUGLAS LYNN Douglas L Merreighn, age 53, of Albuquerque, NM, died at 1:10pm on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born May 24, 1960 in Albuquerque, the son of Merle and Mabel Merreighn, the youngest of his siblings. A lifetime resident, he was a Journeyman Electrician for 33 years, honor student at Sandia High, gifted athlete, wood sculptor and musician (guitar). His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Anna of 22 years; daughter Candra Bergerons of Jaffrey, NH; and sisters Patricia Phillips of Albuquerque, Barbara Lommen of Montgomery, AL, and Merlene Merreighn of Albuquerque; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, some who were close in age to his own. Prayers from family and friends near and far, surround him. What made Doug special was his off-beat sense of humor, spiritualness, humble of heart and a good soul. MCLAUGHLIN, HOMER CHARLES JR. Homer Charles McLaughlin Jr. passed away at noon on February 1, 2014. He was born on August 2, 1927 in Duncan, OK, to Homer Charles McLaughlin & Maurine Kendrick McLaughlin. Charles attended Duncan schools until he went to Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore in the ninth grade for high school and junior college, graduating in 1945. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and earned B.S. and M.S. degrees with a major in organic chemistry. Charles served in the Army after he graduated, and after his term, he started work in the Research Lab at Halliburton. After retiring from Halliburton as a Senior Research Chemist, he attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma and received a B.S. with a major in business. For several years, he had a private practice as a licensed CPA, doing taxes and audits. Charles continued in the Army Reserve, reaching the rank of Colonel, and retired in 1987. His many professional affiliations included member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Chemical Society, American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, and Santa Fe Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars. Charles was on the board of Santa Fe Pro Musica for over five years. He and Johnanna were patrons of the Santa Fe Opera for over 25 years. They were members of the Church of the Holy Faith, where Charles served as Treasurer and Senior Warden. He and his wife Johnanna bought a summer home in Santa Fe after Charles' retirement and eventually moved here full time. Charles loved music (especially opera), astronomy, and chess. He spent most of his life playing chess, and he taught it to high school students in Duncan. He is survived by his wife, Johnanna Jones McLaughlin of Santa Fe, and his daughter, Melody Maurine McLaughlin of Richardson, Texas. A memorial service is planned for April or May in Duncan, Oklahoma. More information will be available at a later date. MAESTAS, NEYDA July 21, 1925 - February 6, 2014 It is with great sadness that the family of Neyda Maestas, beloved and cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, announce the passing after a long illness at the age of 88. Neyda was raised in Canon, New Mexico. Neyda and her husband Herman traveled and lived throughout the world as Herman served in the military.They returned to Albuquerque after retiring from the military in 1963. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Neyda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Herman Maestas, and their six children, Clara Meyer and husband Greg Meyer, Tom Maestas, Mike Maestas, George Maestas and wife Lillian Maestas, Theresa Simoes and husband Anthony Simoes, Robert Maestas and wife Susan Maestas (Wilson); her two sisters Laura Martinez and Carmilita Garcia and by her 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many numerous relatives and friends. She will be truly missed by all. We would like to thank the staff at Clairebridge at Brookdale and Hospice of New Mexico for their wonderful care.
