VIGIL, JOE Age 75, passed away peacefully in his Albuquerque home on February 17, 2013. He was born on April 30, 1937 in Pecos, NM, and was raised in Las Vegas, NM. After serving in the Navy for four years, Joe married and moved to Los Alamos, NM where he resided for 32 years. He coached many Little League teams and worked as a letter carrier for the USPS in the Western Area and in White Rock, NM. Joe was an Albuquerque resident for 20 years where he retired and enjoyed working out at Defined Fitness in Taylor Ranch. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Melecio and Juanita Vigil; brothers, Robert Vigil (Susie), Fernando Vigil (Rebecca) and sister, Margaret Rodriguez (Bill). Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years Irene Vigil; children, Ralph Vigil (Victoria), Yolanda Deimling (Jim), Richard Vigil (Andrea), grandchildren, Lona Vigil, Irene Avard (Jesse), Danielle Vigil, Breanna Vigil, Marissa Vigil, Jamie Deimling, Jeffrey Deimling, Jacquelyn Deimling, Jonas Vigil, Tyanna Vigil; great-grandchild, Jackson Avard; step-grandchildren, Adam Vigil, Felicia Vigil; brothers, Victor Vigil (Agnes), Andy Vigil (Gloria), Melecio Vigil, Paul Vigil (Flora), Maurilio Vigil (Alberta), and sister, Lena Ortega. RASMUSSEN, WILLGERT CHARLES Age 98, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1915 to Charles and Mary (Rohl) Rasmussen of Colby, WI. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man. Mr. Rasmussen was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rasmussen, and a daughter, Donna Rasmussen. He is survived by his children: Ken Rasmussen and wife, Mary, of Cypress, CA, Ray Rasmussen and wife, Chris, of Aldershot, England, Patricia Goetsch and husband, Tom, of Little Elkhart Lake, WI, William Rasmussen of Rio Rancho, NM, and Linda Espinosa of Rio Rancho, NM; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. HANSEN, MICHAEL WILLIAM Age 58, of Albuquerque, NM, originally of Wheaton, IL, born on Feb. 7, 1955, died suddenly on Feb 13, 2013. Loving and adored husband for 29 years of Nancy Elise (Werner); devoted father to Sarah Elizabeth and Elizabeth (Elise) Ann; beloved son to Vivian Cecile (Spencer) and the late William (Bud) Bernard. He was the wonderful brother to Kathleen (Robert) Cinotto, Laura (Larry) Fayfar, Terence (Eileen) & Patrick (Eileen); brother-in-law to Kris (Lynn) Headington, and Bill (Rickey), Rick (Maureen) and Andy (Beth). Loving uncle to 19 nieces and nephews and dear friend to many. Mike served in the US Air Force for five yrs, two of which were with the USAF Thunderbirds. He was well known and highly respected in the aviation industry, which he loved and worked in for over 30 yrs. He was a devoted Christian man with a huge heart. Mike loved everything digital and electronic almost as much as he loved books and reading. He also loved woodworking and hoped to get back to that when he retired. He had an amazing wit about him and his sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, Feb 23, 2013 at 12:00pm at New Covenant Church, 7201 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM, with a luncheon immediately following. SMITH, MICHAEL D. Age 66, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Knoxville, Iowa on December 17, 1946 to Jay and Myrtle (Borchert) Smith. Following Michael's graduation from high school, he joined the United States Army and served in Korea with the 5761st Signal Corps and honorably discharged in March 1967. Michael had a long career as a telecommunications installer, remaining with the same company for over 30 years beginning with Western Electric and finally retiring from Lucent Technologies after the company transferred ownership. He was known as a skilled and careful craftsman and took great pride in his work. Michael married Kathryn "Kitty" Louise Landwehr in January 1982 and they were blessed with a loving and close relationship for 22 years until Kitty passed away in August 2004. Michael was a devoted husband who lovingly cared for Kitty during the last years of her life when she was in declining health. Michael's great passion in life was golf. He was a skilled and accomplished low-handicap golfer. He was also a long-time member of the Arroyo Del Oso Golf Association. He frequented Albuquerque's municipal courses, especially his "home course" Arroyo Del Oso, and he made numerous lifelong friends there, his beloved "golf buddies." He won many tournaments and if he was not winning he was usually close and he was known for his tenacity and patience with the game. He will truly be missed by his golfing partners on the course. In addition to Kitty, Michael is predeceased by his parents, Jay and Myrtle; and his brother, George. Michael is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Carlson and her husband David, and Ann Hughbanks; stepsons, Tony Kreuch, Sr. and his wife Jeannie, Jim Kreuch, and Bob Kreuch and his wife Carol; step-granddaughters, Alissa Kreuch and Andrea Collatz; and step-grandsons, Tony Kreuch Jr, Tal Kreuch, Patrick Kreuch and Alex Kreuch; sisters-in-law, Joanne Landwehr and Pegi Quinn and her husband Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Michael lived a full and happy life and he will truly be missed by his family and many friends. At Michael's request, there will be no funeral services but he has asked the family to hold a memorial service in his honor which will occur at a later date at FRENCH - Wyoming in Albuquerque, NM and there will be an advance notice of date and time.
