  • 04/21/14--00:00: Obituary for QUILLEN
  • QUILLEN, LEON W. In Loving Memory Of Leon W. Quillen March 25, 1937 April 21, 2013 Dear Leon, It's still raining in my heart. The healing tears continue to flow. The storm rages on but peace and grace of our Lord anchors me as I live my days without you. It is a very difficult journey, but with His strength and my trust, I know that I am not alone. He is with me every moment of every day. Thank you Leon for giving our family two blessed and balanced children in Loretta and Pat. Thank you most of all for setting aside your Southern pride and cynicism towards spiritual growth and accepting, through baptism, Jesus Christ as your Redeemer Savior. What a gift He has given you in return! For as deeply as I loved you, He loved you more and called you home to share in His glory! How jealous I am that you got to heaven before me. You are deeply missed and unconditionally loved Your Loving Wife, Lucille

  • 04/21/14--00:00: Obituary for MONTANO
  • MONTANO, MARY J. (GARCIA) Age 92, went to be with The Lord on April 11, 2014. Mary (called Nanny by her grandchildren and great- grandchildren), a lifelong resident of Old Town and Albuquerque's South Valley, was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Patricio (Pat) M. Montano, her parents Luisa Lopez Garcia and Ambrosio Garcia, brothers Ambrosio Jr. and Joe, sister Emma, and her grandson Kyle Almeida. Mary is survived by her daughter Patricia (Patsy) McDaniel and her husband Don, and their daughter Jennifer and son Sean; son LeRoy Montano; daughters Rebecca Baker and Elizabeth Almeida and her husband Rich. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer, Haley, Christopher, and Nicole; by great-grandchildren Amara, Mason, Dalton, and Tyler; and by her sister Eloisa Rozzi. Mary's mother died when Mary was just 13, placing her in the motherhood role for her younger brothers and sisters, and making her widowed father heavily dependent upon her. When Mary's sisters grew older, Mary worked outside the home for the Bluestein family. Mary, a devoted Catholic, placed her total faith in The Lord. She constantly took care of others, her own family and her extended family. Mary is well remembered for her exceptional cooking - no one ever left her table hungry! Mary could easily have been a banker - she could always stretch a limited budget to take care of many. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 22, at San Felipe Catholic Church in Old Town, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM the next day, Wednesday, April 23, also at San Felipe Catholic Church. A private burial for the immediate family will follow. Mary asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
