MORROW, HAZEL Hazel Morrow peacefully passed away the evening of April 29, 2014. Born Hazel Marian Baker on August 29, 1921, to P. R. and Dora Case Baker in Sabetha, Kansas, Hazel became an avid reader, teacher, professional musician, choir director, executive secretary, editor, and beloved Sunday School teacher among a variety of other occupations in Hayes, Kansas, Rocky Ford, Colorado, Roswell, and Albuquerque. Hazel attended Ft. Hayes College and the University of New Mexico. She married Findley Morrow in 1945 and raised four children; after the death of Findley and almost fifty years of marriage, she wed Virgil Stormo in 1998. Virgil died in January, 2014. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Albuquerque, for seven decades. She is survived by her children, Baker Morrow and wife, JoAnn Strathman, Julia Huchmala and husband, John, Rosalind Cooper and husband, Terry, all of Albuquerque, and Thomas Morrow and wife, Sherry of Aurora, CO; stepchildren, Gary Stormo and wife, Sue of Loveland, CO, Ron Stormo and wife, Monica of Lone Pine, CA, and Sally Bjork and husband, Bob of Antioch, CA; grandchildren, John M. Huchmala, Matthew Huchmala, Clinton Anderson, Philip Hanney, Lauren Anderson, Kendra Lamb, Marian Camacho, and Susan Morrow; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous dear step-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. There will be a visitation Sunday, May 4, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a memorial service Monday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas NE. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park with a reception afterward at FRENCH - Lomas. Pallbearers will be John A. Huchmala, Terry Cooper, Michael Baker, John M. Huchmala, Matthew Huchmala, Philip Hanney, and Clinton Anderson. MARTINEZ, TRANQUILINO 91 years of age, born in Trementina , NM, passed away on 5-1-14 surrounded by his loving family. He was welcomed into the arms of his wife of 50 years Adelicia, who preceded him in death 15 years ago. He was also preceded in death by sons, Juanito and Cruz. He is survived by son, Max Telles (Leonor), June Johnson (Leonard), Clara Garcia (Charles) and Alma Romero (David). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was a proud veteran of WWII who served proudly aboard the USS Pennsylvania. Pallbearers will be: Charles Garcia, David Romero, Aaron Romero, Marcos Johnson, Vince Telles and Gabriel Telles. Viewing will be Thursday May 8th at 5pm to be followed by a Rosary at 6pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. JACKSON, EUNICE V. formally from Pocatello, ID was born on November 25, 1931 in Ennis, TX and passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband S.B. Jackson and her son David. Eunice is survived by her son M. Eugene Sanders and wife Joan; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many wonderful friends, whom were a big part of her life and contributed to a life filled with very fond memories. GRAMMER, MARY E. (BETTY) Age 91, died on May 1, 2014. Betty was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on February 9, 1923, to Walter D. and Mary Elizabeth (Byrnes) Johnson. Raised in Pomfret, Connecticut, Betty was a 1944 graduate of the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale on Hudson, New York. On September 27, 1952, she married David A. Grammer, Jr., in Brooklyn, New York. After 60 years of marriage, David predeceased her on December 19, 2012. Betty is survived by a son, David A. Grammer III and wife, Patricia Monaghan; daughters, Margaret Gay and husband, Remo, Mary Katherine Grammer, and Patricia Eskew and husband, Mike; granddaughters Carmen E. Grammer of Harlingen, Texas, Nikki Brown and Kelly Eskew of Albuquerque; step-granddaughters, Jessica Blanton and Meghan Stanford of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Jocelyn and Rayana Lopez, Viviana and Alyvia Brown & step-great-granddaughters, Keira and Makensie Blanton. While living in Brooklyn, New York, Betty worked at the department store B. Altman & Co., and at Benton & Bowles advertising agency. After their marriage, David and Betty lived in Alexandria, Virginia, while David completed his law degree. Upon his graduation, the couple moved to David's Albuquerque hometown. Betty worked in advertising and at Eidal Industries before devoting her time to raising four children. Betty was an avid tennis player, a voracious reader, and a born editor. She enjoyed knitting and the family's extensive travels. Special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Lena Beaird. Cremation will take place and a memorial service is set for Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 4:00 pm, at French - University. GARCIA, BENNY MONTOYA Benny passed away Wednesday, 4/30/14, at the VA Hospice Care Facility. Benny is now at peace after valiantly living with some health challenges. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna M. (Lujan) Garcia; their son, Anthony T. Garcia; and his brother, Arthur Garcia. He is survived by his sister, Mela G. Lueras; daughter, Angela T. (Garcia) Ortiz, her husband, Rico I. Ortiz; daughter, Alisa M. (Garcia) Valdez, her husband, Dennis R. Valdez; son, Andrew B. Garcia, his wife, Juanita C. Garcia; grandchildren, Francisco, Cassandra, Jonathan, Miquela, Eric, Marisa, Isaac, Alicia, Isabella, and Andres; great grandchild, Nathan; and a close-knit extended family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Benny was born in Albuquerque on May 7, 1930, and lived here his entire life. He attended Lew Wallace Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948. After graduating high school, Benny went to California for a short time before he received a job offer to work at Sandia National Laboratories, where he worked for almost 34 years. While working at Sandia, he was drafted and proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. His service was then bridged and he returned to work at Sandia. Shortly afterwards, while working full-time, he completed his Bachelor's of Business Administration at St. Joseph's College (later known as the University of Albuquerque). He was married to Anna Maria Lujan in 1959 and they had celebrated 54 years of marriage August 8, 2013. He was very active in raising his four children and years later, was also a great influence in his grandchildren's lives. He was quite athletic and had played on baseball teams, basketball teams, won awards while on bowling teams, won awards for table tennis, played tennis, and golfed. He also was a softball umpire for a number of years. He later was afflicted with Parkinson's Disease in his late 60s, and handled that with courage and grace. In 2004, he was the fifth person in Albuquerque to have Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery (DBS) which gave him some improved quality of life for a number of years. He can now, in heaven, run freely. He was a strong, quiet man and admired by many, especially his family who loved him deeply. Much gratitude goes to the staff of the VA Hospice Care Facility who demonstrated such great compassion and care. Rosary services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, May 7, 2014, at 7 pm. CLARK, ARTHUR (MIKE) D. JR. Age 87, a resident of Los Lunas since 2008, died Friday, April 25, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Charlotte (Sunnie) of Los Lunas; Cynthia Griffin (Mike), Michael Clark (GayLynn), Deborah Hasse (William), and Timothy (Sharon), a brother Warren Clark (Sandy) of Fountain Hills, AZ and a sister Sue McKereghan (Chuck) of Ashland, OR; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mike was born in Minneapolis, MN, July 6, 1926. As a young man he enjoyed many sports, including boxing, swimming, and basketball. He joined the Marine Corps in 1944 and was trained at Camp Pendelton, CA. From there he was assigned to the 5th Marine Division "The Spearhead", and participated in the battle of Iwo Jima where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Mike was recently selected to join the Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico's inaugural flight to Washington D. C. to see the WWII memorial in June. Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, Mike attended college on the GI Bill at the University of Minnesota. He moved to Pasco, WA, where he worked as a tire retailer before moving to Roswell, NM. While there he worked as a liquor distributer and was transferred to Las Cruces, NM. In Las Cruces, he continued his education at NMSU. Subsequent to his attendance at NMSU, Mike continued his public service as an accountant with the Department of the Army at White Sands Missile Range. Mike was always up for a new adventure, and lived in Frankfurt, Germany for seven years while he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as an accountant. He and Sunnie traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Egypt and Russia. He retired from the Department of Defense and returned to Las Cruces before moving to Los Lunas. Upon retiring they continued to enjoy their love of travel throughout the United States. Mike and Sunnie traveled to Florida, Hawaii, Alaska and all parts in between. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at San Clemente Church, 244 Luna Ave. NE in Los Lunas. He will then be buried at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor. WYNNE, SEMA Died at home on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in the early morning. She was 80. Born in Milwaukee, WI, she and her husband, Louis, lived in New Mexico since 1969. Sema had a Master's degree in Non-Profit Management and was Executive Director of the American Institute of Architects, New Mexico, and later Executive Director of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association. She is survived by her husband of 45 years; three children; three step children; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by one grand-child, Amanda Wynne. SEDILLO, MIGUEL 1918 - 2014 "Mike", age 95, born in Monticello, NM, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, from natural causes. He resided in Tome, NM. Mike was the son of the late Teodolo and Cleotilde Najar Sedillo. He is survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Sedillo of New Mexico; six children, Felia Ayala and husband, Santos of Virginia, Corinne Koelsch and husband, Jerry of California, Gloria Curry of California, Mike Sedillo of New Mexico, Josie Wallingford and husband, Ben of Colorado, and Stacey Arellano and husband, Monroe of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and close friend, Lori Cantrell of NM. He loved traveling, dancing, gardening, reading, story-telling, working with his hands, and he actively participated in local senior citizen centers. Often, he could be found playing horseshoes or billiards and could spend countless hours sharing stories with his family and friends. He is loved and will be truly missed. SCHOENUNG, ALOIS F. Age 87, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, went to heaven on April 8, 2014. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Al is survived by daughters, Chris (Robert) Rosenow, Susan (Tom Bowman) Schoenung, Kathy Foote, and Julie (Enrique Lavernia) Schoenung; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 63 years, Rita Schoenung; daughter, Marji (David) Zimmerman; and her sons, Michael and Mark. A display designer, Al was employed by the Rapid Mounting and Finishing Company in Chicago, where he worked for almost 30 years after growing up in Milwaukee. He subsequently owned and operated a successful Mail and Parcel Store in Naperville, IL. Al and Rita retired to a custom-designed home in Albuquerque, where they enjoyed the frequent passing of hot air balloons and were involved in their church community at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Al was an active member of various Barbershop Quartets and choral groups in Naperville and then Albuquerque. A veteran of World War II, he trained at Layton School of Art in Milwaukee as an artist and designer after the war. Al was a prodigious inventor, holding six patents, and woodworker, building custom cabinetry and furniture for his home. Many original pieces will be treasured by his daughters and their families. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL. GARCIA, HENRY H. Henry H. Garcia, born April 14, 1923 in Santa Fe, lived in Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frances. He is survived by his daughters: Alice (Pat), Carolyn, Judy (Rusty), Ellen (Leonard), Elizabeth, and Kathy; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Romulo, Max, Bernie and Rosina (Bill); sister-in-law, Bea; brother-in-law, Donald; and many others in his extended family. Henry was a World War II veteran, and served his country from December 1942 to February 1946. He worked many years for Coca Cola Bottling Co. and retired from the State of New Mexico in Santa Fe. He was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church until his death.
