BUKOWSKI, ROBERT J. Age 76, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born in New York City, NY on May 30, 1937, to Theophil and Helene (Kwasney) Bukowski. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from St. John's University of New York. He retired after many years of service from Lovelace Hospital as a purchasing agent. In his spare time, he loved to travel, gardening, rooting for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, playing the stock markets and volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father, Theophil Bukowski. Robert is survived by wife of 45 years, Jayne Bukowski, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Joseph Bukowski, of Rio Rancho, NM, Laura Neuman and husband, Robert, of Arlington, VA, and Katherine Gorrasi and husband, Kevin, of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Matthew, Brenna and Lauren Neuman; mother, Helene Bukowski, of Cortland, NY; siblings, Theodore Bukowski, Richard Bukowski, Maria Bukowski, and Theresa Guimond and husband, James; and many other relatives and friends. The Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. AXNESS, HAROLD K. July 28, 1926 - May 4, 2014, lovingly known as the Jolly Green Giant by his family and friends, was born July 28, 1926 in Chicago, IL. He was the only son of Hans K. Axness and Gerta Carlson. Harold is survived by his son Carl Axness and Carl's wife Anna, their sons Louis, Bjorn and Marvin and daughter Marlene Trujillo; and his daughter Chris Hampton, and Chris's husband Darrell and daughter Tegan Matthews. Harold is also survived by wife June Axness, the love of his life for the past 45 years; and his stepchildren, Kevin Allen, Kerry Allen, Dan Allen, Lisa Allen Urrea, Molly Ashcraft, Cate Sabatini and Eve Reissman; their spouses and their combined ten children. Harold graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois with a degree in accounting and was a CPA. He moved to Albuquerque, N.M. in 1955 and excelled in running his accounting practice for over 50 years. Harold was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears and he and his wife, a St. Louis cardinals fan, shared many years of friendly and spirited rivalry. But, together they did share their support of the NM Lobos. Harold was also a member of 4 Hills Country Club and had survived most of his golfing cronies. He and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed playing golf on spectacular courses across the country. Together they entertained, raised a large family, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and of course, green and red chili. He and his wife were well known for their posole parties. Harold was admired and loved by many and will be deeply missed. A Mass service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Our Lady of the Annunciation located at 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Ennichment will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:30 am.

TARTER, MARGARET &Quot;HONEY&Quot; Margaret "Honey" Tarter (94) died peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was born in Mattoon, Wisconsin on July 29, 1919, and was raised in Antigo. She moved to Albuquerque in 1946 with her parents Oscar and Helen Baures. She married William "Lee" Tarter in October, 1947. They raised two children: Mary Helen and Bill. Honey was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi and Fatima Parish. She was a beloved wife, wonderful mom, delightful aunt, and good friend. She enjoyed a deep, quiet faith and had a joyous giggle. Her last home of 18 years was at La Vida LLena where she enjoyed many friends among the staff and residents. She is survived by her son Bill and was predeceased by her daughter (1975) and husband (2006). All remember her as quiet, gentle, and kind. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel at La Vida Llena on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00am.

MILLER, LARRY DEAN Age 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, passed away April 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Mariane and his children, Jeff Childs and wife, Denise and Crystal Pritchard and fiance, Mark Lewis, all of Albuquerque. A son, David Childs, predeceased him. He has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Larry was born in Huntington, Indiana on April 7, 1931 and lived there until he went into the Navy in January, 1951. He graduated Purdue with a BSME in 1958 and MSIE in 1959 before going to work at Sandia National Laboratories where he retired in 1994. Larry started Miller & O'Niell, Inc. and did remodeling and construction and built Lindal Cedar Homes. He was a major partner in San Juan River Land Development Co. and helped engineer and build a bridge across the San Juan River 18 miles south of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to travel. His first motorhome had 100,000 miles on it before he got a new one. He loved woodworking. His grandfather clock won Best of Show at the New Mexico State Fair. Larry always had a garden and shared his vegetables and large dahlias. MCCARTY, DAVID W. Age 79, of Los Lunas, left us to join his many friends, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He is survived by Ruth Des Jardins of the home; son Jeff McCarty and wife Pat of Portales; daughter Michelle Lofton of Mansfield, TX. He was a grandfather to Joshua McCarty and wife Rae of Portales, Shari Morris and husband Zack of Portales, Danette Jimenez and husband Beto of Mansfield, TX, and Melissa Lofton of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandfather to Joshua, Cooper and Michael. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other family members and good friends. David was preceded in death by his parents Jasper W. and Alene McCarty; his sister Luana Hopkins; his twin brother Jasper Newton McCarty; and his son, Dudley Wells McCarty. He was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1949 his family moved to Portales and started Mac's Drive - In. The family sold the restaurant in 1957 and he moved to Albuquerque and started Mac's Drive - In on Lomas, which became a hangout for local high school kids. Later Mr. McCarty proudly owned and operated five Mac's Steak in the Rough Drive-In's. He was also awarded Restaurateur of the Year for the State of New Mexico. MANKINS, NANCY Nancy Helen Mankins (Dunn), age 73, a resident of Bosque Farms since 1977, passed away after a long-illness. She fought bravely to the end. She was a member of the Mission Valley Church in Los Lunas. Nancy was born to Agnes Bessie Watson and William Forrest Dunn and was their only daughter. Nancy was born on August 13, 1940 in Dallas, Texas. She was married to Stephen David Mankins on June 29, 1956. They were married for 39 years, sharing their life together. She was a military wife, and moved to many different Air Force Bases across the United States. Nancy and Stephen had four children together, nine grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Nancy was also a Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was devoted to her family until the day she went to be with her Lord, on April 25th at 12:30 a.m. Nancy loved to stay busy while working as a US Post Office Rural letter carrier and after retirement, she was a member of the Bosque Farms Bowling League for many years. As a member of the Pilot club, she was always willing to take on projects for them. She was active in Eastern Star, and Blue Star Mothers. When the Balloon Festival was in Albuquerque, she was a chase crew member. Once she retired from the Post Office as a rural letter carrier, she continued to be the editor for the Postal newspaper for many more years. She loved to go to the postal Conventions each year and would always take several grandchildren with her. She showed them sights that they never would have had the opportunity to see from Maine, Florida, Washington D.C, Atlantic City and Denver, just to name a few. She was active with Community Watch in Bosque Farms. As her children grew up she always got involved with everything they joined. She was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter, involved in Cub Scouts for her sons. Some of her hobbies were crocheting baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, she never missed a football game when her sons were in high school. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in any sporting event. She was preceded in death by husband, Stephen David Mankins, her parents Agnes Watson and William Forrest Dunn, one of her brothers, Donald Dunn; a nephew, David Allen Dunn, and nephew Tony Dunn, Stephen's parents, Stephen Sydney Mankins and Verda Oleta Mankins, her sister-in-law Norma Sue Ingram and brother-in-law Glen Ingram, son-in-law Steven Ziegler, as well as, her sister-in law Kay Dunn. She is survived by her brother Dick & sister-in-law Gloria Dunn; sister-in-law Barbara Dunn; daughter Stephanie and her husband Clayton Nickle; son Richard and his wife Teri Mankins; son Mark and his wife Patti Mankins; and daughter Nan Ziegler. Nancy's grandson, David and his wife Samantha Mankins; granddaughter Jennifer Chavez; grandson Joshua Ziegler; granddaughter Rebecca Coe; granddaughter Leah Ziegler; granddaughter Jillian Strough; granddaughter Ann Mankins; grandsons Clint and Neal Mankins; great-grandchildren Kyle and Shawn Mankins, Sarah and Derek Chavez, Jayton Coe, and Isabella Rose Ziegler; nephew, Doug Ingram; niece Robbie MacLauchlan; nephews Richard Neal Dunn, Bobby Dunn and Kevin Dunn. LOCK, JUDITH M. Judith M. Lock, 66, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus on Wednesday May 7, 2014. Originally from Park Ridge, Illinois, she loved her adopted town of Albuquerque where she and her husband Bill had lived for over 40 years. As a teacher and homemaker, she was a problem solver. But above all, she was thrilled to be a mother and grandmother. She was a "wife of noble character" as Proverbs extols, supporting Bill's many endeavors. She loved her Church, including St. Mark's, Christ The King Anglican, and most recently Wellspring Anglican. Judy is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Jenny, Beth, Rob, and John; "bonus children," Eric, Brian, Debbie, and Bonnie; and grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, Marcas, Isaiah, and Catherine. GONZALES, MARY M. Mary M. Gonzales entered eternal rest on May 4, 2014. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Pedro, her parents Juan and Eloisa Maes, and brothers Charlie and Joseph. She is survived by her four daughters Teresa Gonzales of Albuquerque; Marta Gonzales of Aurora, CO; Anna Berezin and husband Steve of Mission Viejo, CA: Rita Betty and husband Greg of Rio Rancho; and five grandchildren: Daniel, Tommy and Gina Berezin, and Sean and Ryan Betty. Other surviving family members are brother Gilbert Maes and wife Nora, children Olivia and Robert; sister-in-law Theresa wife of Charlie, and children Miriam, Carl, Michael and Catherine; brother Floyd Maes and wife Maxine, children Genevieve, Gertie, Paul and Joaquin; brother Tony Maes; sister Jennie Maes, and brother Larry Maes. Mary was born in Mora, NM on August 7, 1924, the eldest of her siblings. She grew up helping the family with farming chores, often in the company of uncles, aunts and cousins. After graduating from Mora High School in 1943, Mary attended a 6-month business school in Santa Fe, NM. Mary was employed by the University of California as a stenographer and secretary in the purchasing department supporting the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, NM from 1943 until 1948. Mary had many happy and remarkable memories of her experiences during this historic period. During WWII she kept in correspondence with Pedro Claudio Gonzales, a friend from Mora High School stationed in the US Navy. Pedro and Mary married in 1948, and made their first home in Las Vegas, NM. They welcomed their first born daughter Teresa, followed by Marta, two twin boys born prematurely and deceased, Anna and Rita. Although her preference would have been to remain a homemaker, circumstances required outside employment. She worked in Las Vegas, NM and in Santa Fe for the State of NM from 1949-1954. In 1954, the family moved to Albuquerque. Mary worked at Sandia National Labs in administrative roles beginning in 1957 until her retirement from Sandia in 1983. Mary was active in the Catholic Church over many years. She taught catechism at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic charismatic community at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish for several years. In 2006, Mary moved to Rio Rancho, where she was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Mary also enjoyed frequent visits and participation in the activities at the Meadowlark Senior Center. In her retirement, she traveled internationally to Spain, Portugal, France, the Holy Land, the Caribbean and to Hawaii. She also enjoyed traveling to California, Boston and Denver to visit her daughters. Mary had many dear friends she remained in close contact with throughout her life. Mary loved to visit her friends and family. She kept her mind sharp through interest in politics and current events. In her later years, word-search puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune were favorite pastimes. Mary loved to nurture others, either by words, warm hugs or by preparing and serving her delicious, home-cooked nutritious meals. She will be remembered for her courageous, kind, gentle and generous spirit. We love you, we will miss you and we will be reunited one day, eternally. A rosary and mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish on Tuesday, May 13 beginning at 10 am, followed by internment at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 1:30 pm. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on October 27, 1920, to Feliciano Lopez and Juanita Garcia in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a lifelong resident of the Barelas Community. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Juan died 1994, sons Manuelito died 1943, Peter died 1982, John (Bino) died 2001 and a grandson Daniel Gallegos. DOMME, KATHRYN MERCEDES known to her family and friends as Peachie, passed away on May 2, 2014 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Domme; her parents, Thomas and Lillian Kennedy of Topeka, Kansas; and her daughter-in-law Susan Domme. Peachie is survived by her brother, Ret Gen Thomas Kennedy and wife Ruth; her sister Frances "Dollie" Petr; and by her five sons: Craig, Fr. Edward Domme, Dan and wife Colleen, Tom and wife Martha, and Jack and wife Karen; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Peachie was born in Emmett, Kansas on March 29, 1925. In 1940 her family moved to Topeka, Kansas where she grew up helping in the family grocery store. She graduated from Capital Catholic High School in 1942 and then attended Business College in Topeka. Peachie and Edward were married in 1946 in Topeka and the family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1948. Together, they raised their five sons and created a full life surrounded by family and many close friends. Peachie and Ed were members of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish from its beginning in 1953 until the present. She was very active at Assumption Church and grade school and later at St. Pius X High School. In 1961 Peachie went to work at Sandia Savings and Loan and retired as an Executive Secretary. She then earned her Real Estate Broker's license and worked in Real Estate for many years with Hooten & Stahl Realtors. In the 1970's she owned her own Home Rental and Management Agency until retirement in 1979. Peachie enjoyed bowling, golf, and was well known for her bridge play. She is especially remembered for her loving care of her husband Ed during his long illness preceding his death. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday May 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 811 Guaymas NE. Mass will be celebrated on Friday May 9, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Assumption Parish. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Home Instead and Presbyterian Hospice for all their support and care for our mother. DAVID, DELORES ANN (KELLER) Age 80, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger; daughters Deanna Shaw-Becker and her husband, Bill, Amy Ruybal and her husband, Greg, Darla Gabaldon and her husband, Jude, and Joann Hall and her husband DuWayne; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous friends. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her daughter, Donna. Delores was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who never met a stranger. One thing we all know - things are getting done in record time with that energetic lady's arrival in heaven! CHAVEZ, PATRICK PAUL age 26, our beloved son, brother, grandson, and nephew, went to be with our Lord on April 24, 2014. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on March 28, 1988. Patrick is survived by his mother Genevieve Paiz; step-father, Joe Paiz; his father, Paul Mendez; brothers, James Chavez, Anthony Acosta; and many other loving family members and friends. Patrick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
