BUKOWSKI, ROBERT J. Age 76, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born in New York City, NY on May 30, 1937, to Theophil and Helene (Kwasney) Bukowski. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from St. John's University of New York. He retired after many years of service from Lovelace Hospital as a purchasing agent. In his spare time, he loved to travel, gardening, rooting for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, playing the stock markets and volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father, Theophil Bukowski. Robert is survived by wife of 45 years, Jayne Bukowski, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Joseph Bukowski, of Rio Rancho, NM, Laura Neuman and husband, Robert, of Arlington, VA, and Katherine Gorrasi and husband, Kevin, of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Matthew, Brenna and Lauren Neuman; mother, Helene Bukowski, of Cortland, NY; siblings, Theodore Bukowski, Richard Bukowski, Maria Bukowski, and Theresa Guimond and husband, James; and many other relatives and friends. The Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. BACA, ARTHUR Age 63, of Los Lunas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born in Belen, NM on October 12, 1950 he was veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He's a retired auto body technician and a semi-retired driver from the Rio Metro transportation department. He was also an ordained pastor. His parents are, the late Aurelio Baca Sr., and survived by Tonnie T. Trapp. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roselyn Baca. Roselyn is the daughter of Joe B. Griego and the late Anita Griego. Arthur has three daughters, Annette and son-in-law Joseph Torres, daughter Karen and son in law, Orlando Aragon, and daughter Stefanie Baca. He cherished his seven grandchildren, Joshua Baca Torres, Joseph Jason Torres, Jordan Torres, Marcus Duran, Lucas Duran, Nathaniel Aragon and Eliana Baca. There will be a viewing at Calvary New Harvest in Los Lunas on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 9:30am, the service will begin at 10:30am, and there will be reception to follow at New Harvest. The burial will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 9:45 am in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. AXNESS, HAROLD K. July 28, 1926 - May 4, 2014, lovingly known as the Jolly Green Giant by his family and friends, was born July 28, 1926 in Chicago, IL. He was the only son of Hans K. Axness and Gerta Carlson. Harold is survived by his son Carl Axness and Carl's wife Anna, their sons Louis, Bjorn and Marvin and daughter Marlene Trujillo; and his daughter Chris Hampton, and Chris's husband Darrell and daughter Tegan Matthews. Harold is also survived by wife June Axness, the love of his life for the past 45 years; and his stepchildren, Kevin Allen, Kerry Allen, Dan Allen, Lisa Allen Urrea, Molly Ashcraft, Cate Sabatini and Eve Reissman; their spouses and their combined ten children. Harold graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois with a degree in accounting and was a CPA. He moved to Albuquerque, N.M. in 1955 and excelled in running his accounting practice for over 50 years. Harold was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears and he and his wife, a St. Louis cardinals fan, shared many years of friendly and spirited rivalry. But, together they did share their support of the NM Lobos. Harold was also a member of 4 Hills Country Club and had survived most of his golfing cronies. He and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed playing golf on spectacular courses across the country. Together they entertained, raised a large family, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and of course, green and red chili. He and his wife were well known for their posole parties. Harold was admired and loved by many and will be deeply missed. A Mass service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Our Lady of the Annunciation located at 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Ennichement will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:30 am.

AUSTIN, ARMON T. Age 95, of Lucy, New Mexico passed away at Bee Hives Homes in Edgewood on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Armon was born February 25, 1919 in Lucy, NM to Harvey J. and Roxie L. (Moody) Austin. He was a lifetime resident of Lucy, NM, a rancher/ farmer, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Corona. Armon married Margaret Plemons on April 4, 1992 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ollie Austin (Steele); sons, Neil Dwight Austin and Rollin Randolph Austin; sister Bonnie Moselle Thigpen; brother Harvey Preston Austin; and stepson Wally Plemons. Armon is survived by his wife Margaret Austin of Albuquerque; son Lyndal Austin and his wife Rudine of Lucy; daughter Bonnie Sue Thomas of Estancia; two stepdaughters Sallie Bueno of California and Marilyn Tredwell and her husband Charles of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; & six great-great- grandchildren. There will be a viewing on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. TARTER, MARGARET &Quot;HONEY&Quot; Margaret "Honey" Tarter (94) died peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was born in Mattoon, Wisconsin on July 29, 1919, and was raised in Antigo. She moved to Albuquerque in 1946 with her parents Oscar and Helen Baures. She married William "Lee" Tarter in October, 1947. They raised two children: Mary Helen and Bill. Honey was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi and Fatima Parish. She was a beloved wife, wonderful mom, delightful aunt, and good friend. She enjoyed a deep, quiet faith and had a joyous giggle. Her last home of 18 years was at La Vida LLena where she enjoyed many friends among the staff and residents. She is survived by her son Bill and was predeceased by her daughter (1975) and husband (2006). All remember her as quiet, gentle, and kind. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel at La Vida Llena on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00am.

PADILLA, BONIFACIO &Quot;BONI&Quot; was born in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico, February 29, 1924 and passed away May 2, 2014. A World War II Veteran, he is survived by son Ray and wife Renee; daughter Sherlynn and husband Alex; daughter Lori Anne and husband Brandon; and granddaughters Renee, Tamara, Sabrina and Caitlyn. He is also survived by brother Luis and his wife Frances; sisters Fabiola Aragon and Anelia C De Baca and her husband Louie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Our Dad served on the Bernalillo County Commission and the Palo Duro Senior Citizens Advisory Board. He was also involved with the Solo Club and American Legion where he held various positions. He loved to dance and was an avid poker player. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends. Interment of his ashes at the Santa Fe National Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be at a later date. The family would like to thank St John's Healthcare and Rehabilitation and the VA Medical Center for all their care and support.

ORTIZ, GILBERT RAYMOND passed away Sunday, May 04, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Nambe. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Emilie Jane Barrone Ortiz; parents, Henry and Sarah Ortiz; mother-in-law, Christina Fresenius Barrone; sisters, baby Bertha Ortiz and Angie Hayes and brother-in-law, Herman Rowlison. Mr. Ortiz is survived by his siblings and their families: Jennie Rowlison, Eddie Ortiz and wife Teri, Sylvia and husband Austin Hoover and Linda and husband Frankie Trujillo; brothers-in-law, Dan Barrone and wife Cece and Lenny Barrone. Gilbert was born and raised in Nambe, New Mexico, and considered it to be "the most beautiful place to be". He attended elementary school across the street from his house and in 7th grade went on to St. Michael's College (as it was called in those days). He graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1950 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force, spending four years as a Cryptograph Operator in the Korean War earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning home he entered the work force at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in the mail room and eventually became a Division Leader for Communications and Records Management (CRMO), as well as Lobbyist. He was a loyal, diligent and compassionate employee and loved every minute of his 40 + career with LANL. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Emilie Jane Barrone; raised three daughters, Cynthia Christianna, Deana Gilberta and Bianca Camille. Along with Emilie he was instrumental in the upbringing of their three grandchildren whom they considered their Dad, Christopher, Chrisianita "Tia" and Orion "Kiki". Loving, spoiling, and guiding them every step of the way. Gilbert was a dedicated, loving and funny son, grandson, brother, husband, father, cousin and friend. He cherished his days with his Papa Abel, Mama Teodora, Mama Bersa and all his many cousins, nephews, nieces, son-in-law, John Vincent Wertheim and his family and friends through the years. Gilbert also served as a Santa Fe County Commissioner, was a Great Democrat and a part time farmer, even raising with Emilie 5,000 chile plants in one season. He had a special devotion to the "Virgin Mother" and was a devout Roman Catholic. He found sanctuary in the Holy Rosary and in the recent years to EWTN. A proud New Mexican and American, Gilbert cherished and respected the land, acequias, rivers and "los pajaritos de Tata Dios". In his younger days he was an avid hunter and loved going on horseback to the wilderness. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Kiki Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz - Petty Officer 3rd class US Navy, Henry Ortiz, Kenneth Rowlison (his Ahijado) and Robert Garcia. MCCARTY, GLENN PATRICK &Quot;POP&Quot; Age 69, residing in Louisville, KY, went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014. He was born in Wichita, KS on June 8, 1944, the son of Glenn Wesley McCarty and Helen Katherine Daly. He proudly served our country in Viet Nam from 1967-1969 as a Captain in the US Army. He graduated from Wichita State University (Go Shockers!) in 1966 and then graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University Law School in Topeka, KS in 1971. He is survived by: his wife of almost 44 years, Yvonne Gail McCarty; one son Matthew (Laura) McCarty; three daughters Hope (Ric) Romero, Kimberly (Brandon) Jenkins, and Dawn Conroy; two brothers John (Ann) McCarty, and Michael (Kay) McCarty; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was a life-long runner and loved playing with his children and grandchildren, especially in the great outdoors! MCCARTY, DAVID W. Age 79, of Los Lunas, left us to join his many friends, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He is survived by Ruth Des Jardins of the home; son Jeff McCarty and wife Pat of Portales; daughter Michelle Lofton of Mansfield, TX. He was a grandfather to Joshua McCarty and wife Rae of Portales, Shari Morris and husband Zack of Portales, Danette Jimenez and husband Beto of Mansfield, TX, and Melissa Lofton of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandfather to Joshua, Cooper and Michael. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other family members and good friends. David was preceded in death by his parents Jasper W. and Alene McCarty; his sister Luana Hopkins; his twin brother Jasper Newton McCarty; and his son, Dudley Wells McCarty. He was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1949 his family moved to Portales and started Mac's Drive - In. The family sold the restaurant in 1957 and he moved to Albuquerque and started Mac's Drive - In on Lomas, which became a hangout for local high school kids. Later Mr. McCarty proudly owned and operated five Mac's Steak in the Rough Drive-In's. He was also awarded Restaurateur of the Year for the State of New Mexico. DAVID, DELORES ANN (KELLER) Age 80, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger; daughters Deanna Shaw-Becker and her husband, Bill, Amy Ruybal and her husband, Greg, Darla Gabaldon and her husband, Jude, and Joann Hall and her husband DuWayne; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous friends. TRUJILLO, RAY P. Age 72, passed away May 5, 2014, born April 17, 1942 in El Rito, NM. In 1972 moved his family and became a resident of Albuquerque, NM where he worked with and was a member of the Carpenters Union, became a licensed contractor and retired from Y.D.I in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Eva; daughters Evelyn Trujillo, Roseann Barella, Dolly Rea and fiance Cantrell Taylor; son Ray P. Trujillo and wife Christina. Grandchildren Santanna Rea and boyfriend Greg Russell, Mariah and husband Isaac Valdez, Anthony and Joshua Trujillo, and Elysza-Rae Barella-Trujillo; great-granddaughters Elisia and Alize Valdez. Brothers Peter, Eloy, Bobby and wife Gloria, Andrew and wife Orlinda, Mario and wife Donna. Sisters Margret and husband Fred Lucero, Angela and husband Frank Ortiz.
