BOCK, MICHAEL F. age 67, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 after a brief illness. Michael was a decorated Viet Nam Veteran and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred C. and Marie Bock, his sister Laddie McDonald and his life partner Sandra W. Landon. He is survived by his son Thomas E. Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY, and three nieces. Cremation has taken place. Donations in his honor may be made to the American Legion or DAV.

ANSLEY, EMERITA DOLORES WALLACE Emerita Dolores Wallace Ansley of Santa Fe, died on Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital. She was 83. Services will take place at 10 a.m., Monday at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community, with a Rosary before the 11 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens. A native of Las Vegas, N.M., Ansley and her husband, Tom, were long-time residents of the Mora Valley before moving to Santa Fe in 2007. Born May 11, 1931 at home on Pecos Street in Las Vegas, N.M., Emerita was the fourth of seven children born to Alfredo and Celia (Gallegos) Wallace. Emerita is survived by her children, Ken Russell (Vanessa) of Lubbock, Texas, Inez Russell Gomez (David) of Santa Fe; stepson, Blaine Wegley (Judi) of California; and two step-daughters, Susan Brown of Texas and Dorothy Wilbanks of Nevada. Emerita also leaves her grandchildren: Joaquin Gomez of Santa Fe, Kenny, Kendra and Jordan Russell and Jasmine Devroe of Texas; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her brother-in-law, Wilfred Mares, of Las Vegas; two sisters-in-law, Julia Wallace of Jemez and Mary Wardell of Houston. She was preceded in death by her brothers Alfred and Roger (Julia) Wallace; her sisters, Rita Maestas (Max), Thelma Mares (Wilfred) and Inez Wallace; and brother Gilbert, who died shortly after birth. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, B.J. Wegley, their baby, Fred; and her ex-husband, Carl Russell.

ALBIN, DOUGLAS S. Doug Albin passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, due to complications of a sudden illness. He was 44 years old. He is survived by his longtime partner, Aryan Lamb; his beautiful daughter, Olive Lamb Albin; his parents, George and Dorris Albin, of Garland, TX; his sister, Debra Albin, also of Garland, TX; and countless friends. He was an owner of a successful business, a live music venue called Sister, in Albuquerque. Doug's charm, wit and warmth made him loved and admired by all those who met him. He was taken before his time and will be sorely missed by those who had the great fortune to know him. May he rest in peace. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, at The Blacksmith Shop at the Yards, located at 1100 2nd Street SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Reception to follow. SYLVESTER, DORA LUCILE ANDERSON LANGLEY Dora Lucile Anderson Langley Sylvester was born in Wilsonville, Nebraska, on July 31, 1925, the daughter of C.R and Mary Anderson. She passed away on May 30, 2014. Dora was an excellent hostess and cook, enjoying preparing meals for her family and friends. She was an avid stamp collector and served in leadership roles at the Palo Duro Philatelic Society. Over the years, she collected thousands of stamps from about 15 countries. She also had a unique collection of miniature antique lamps. Dora began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse at age 17. She got her Bachelor's degree at Chadron's State Teacher's College, and her Master's degree at the University of Wyoming. She taught primary school children in Valentine, Nebraska; Laramie, Torrington, and Riverton, Wyoming, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dora was an active member of Sandia and then Heights First Churches of the Nazarene. She served in the church's food bank and was also active in singles and greeting ministries. Dora was predeceased by her first husband Forrest Langley who was killed in action during World War II, and her loving husband of 61 years, Donell D. Sylvester. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her infant son, Kent, her brothers, Charles and Howard Anderson, and sister, Alice Babbitt. Dora is survived by her brother Frank Anderson (Ila), sisters Melva Anderson and Zora Yoder (Chet), her daughter Nancy Brown (William), son John Sylvester (Debbie), and her daughter Mary Dell Saling (James). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Deonne Benedict, Nathan Brown, Piper Wild, and Aaron Cravens. She had eight great-grandchildren, Morgan Laird, Natalie and Owen Brown, Ethan Wild, Camille and Caleb Cravens, and Blaine and Faith Benedict. Her son John, with help from her daughters and caregiver Priscilla DuBois, lovingly cared for her during the latter years of her life. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Dora their greatest gratitude. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH Wyoming. A service to honor her life will be held on Wednesday June 4, at 3:00 p.m. at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte Albuquerque, NM 87122, and burial will be in Wilsonville, Nebraska. RUSSELL, GERALD G. &Quot;JERRY&Quot; Gerald G. "Jerry" Russell passed away May 29, 2014. He was 84. Jerry was born on August 10, 1929 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Katherine Russell; his brothers, Antony and Thomas G. Russell. He is survived by his son, Thomas M. Russell; daughter, Katherine Babic; grandson, Kevin Babic; and nephew, Tony T. Russell all of Albuquerque; as well as many cousins in Canada, Greece and the USA. Jerry proudly served in the United States Naval Reserve for 4 years. He graduated from UNM in Business Administration in 1951. He worked in the Horse Racing Industry in Pari-Mutuels from 1947 through 1997 at facilities including The New Mexico State Fair, The Downs at Santa Fe, La Mesa Park, San Juan Downs and Ruidoso Downs. PENDLETON, RALPH EDWARD SR. loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, veteran of World War II, businessman and friend of many, passed away on May 24, 2014 in Raton, New Mexico at nearly 90 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Alexander Pendleton and Eula Hanna Pendleton and by his wife of nearly 40 years, Bobbie Ruth Hilliard Pendleton. Ralph was born in Roy, New Mexico in 1924 and after graduating from Roy High School attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque at a time in that city's early history when he described the campus as "sitting all by itself in the desert above the valley town." During these formative years, Ralph was a musician, part of the honor society, a fraternity member and an accomplished athlete, playing baseball for the New Mexico Lobos college team. After graduating college with a degree in Geology, and with the world at war in the mid 1940s, Ralph joined the Navy and completed flight training in Corpus Christi, Texas where he was awarded his pilot wings. Around this time, he wed the love of his life, Bobbie Ruth Hilliard, and together they commenced a marriage and life journey as a military family. The couple borne three sons and traveled to various military bases over the course of his Navy career including Washington DC, Virginia, Morocco Africa, Nebraska and Honolulu, Hawaii. His service duties included those of a Naval Aviator, a Strategic Air Command European Intelligence Representative and a joint staff officer for the Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He attained the rank of Lt. Commander during his 26 year military service. Ralph remained in Hawaii after his retirement from the Navy, during which time he taught mathematics at a local intermediate high school. Soon thereafter in 1969 he returned to Raton, New Mexico with his family in tow and began working for the family business, Pendleton Oil and Gas Company. He worked throughout business locations in northern New Mexico as a managing officer of the company well into his 80s. Ralph is survived by elder sister Jean Pendleton Filkins; by his sons Ralph Jr., Matthew and Ned; five grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; as well as numerous other family relations. Thanks go out for the kind care Ralph received during his stay at Colfax Senior Care Assisted Living and also for the services provided by Sangre De Cristo Hospice. During his lifetime, Ralph was a benefactor to a number of charitable organizations and a supporter of health industry causes including March of Dimes, Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Foundation. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the surviving family requests that donations be made to these and other organizations of choice. A memorial service is planned for June 6, 2014 at the Yaksich - Long Funeral Home in Raton located at 1310 South Second Street at 11:00 am that morning. PADILLA, ALICE WALLACE Age 92, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born in Dawson, NM on September 20, 1921. She graduated from Cimarron High School. Her and her husband lived in Albuquerque, NM and moved to San Diego, CA in 1961. Then returned to Albuquerque in 1989. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Gaspar M. Padilla; parents Oniesfora and Antonio Wallace; sisters Lucy Padilla and Vera Valdez. She leaves behind her devoted son David Padilla of Albuquerque, NM, and her daughters Sylvia Padilla of Albuquerque, NM and Marian Padilla Aguirre and spouse Caesar of Chula Vista, CA. Also her loving grandsons Raul T. Canderlaria of Albuquerque and Javier I. Canderlaria of Cedar Crest, NM; her beloved great-grand-daughter Zion Azul Munoz Canderlaria of Albuquerque, NM; siblings Estella Mares, Ledora Fajardo, and Frank Wallace all of Albuquerque, NM and Alex Trujillo of Hemet, CA and many nieces and nephews. Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother. Although she never learn to drive, she was very independent. Throughout her life, she demonstrated tremendous determination and courage. She loved to dance, travel with her sisters, knitting, and her Heresy chocolate bars with almonds. OTERO, FRANK M. 1924 - 2014 Frank M. Otero, age 90, a resident of Peralta, NM passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Frank was the kind of person who made a lasting impression, probably because he loved people so much. He always had time to sit and chat with an old friend or someone he had just met. He loved his home, his community and his family. After graduating and working in California for several years, he moved back, and made Peralta his home for the rest of his life. A respected business owner in Los Lunas for the past 60 years, he slowed only when he as physically unable to do as much as he liked. He remained busy with his big gardens, orchards and livestock. His joys were simple: watching his great-grandchildren play, traveling, often attending boxing matches in Vegas, and singing and playing his guitar. Forever the most gracious host, even from his hospital bed would ask his visitors if they would like something to drink or if they had eaten, grateful that they had taken time out of their day to visit with him. He was a good man, strong and kind. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mamie S. Otero; grandson, Vincent James Otero; and parents, Adolfo and Victoriana Marquez-Otero. Frank is survived by sons, Frank Jr. and wife, Evelyn, James, and Edward; his daughter, Brenda Otero; his grandchildren, Victoria Otero, Valerie Otero, Eric Otero, Tyler Otero and Ryan Virtue; great-grandchildren, Serena Fernandez, Phillip Dibble, Aiden Lane, Gavin Lane, Daelyn Lane and Nathan Otero; and sisters, Ida Francis and Juanita Otero. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, beginning with a Viewing on Tuesday, June 3rd at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Hoi Tran presiding. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tyler Otero, Frank Dibble, Ryan Virtue, Dennis Salas, Phillip Dibble and Mano Otero. NEAL, EVELYN Age 81, a resident of Albuquerque for over 45 years, died Saturday, May 31, 2014. She is survived by her children, Marie Neal and partner, Judy Vratil and Richard Neal, all of Albuquerque; and many friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Neal. She was born in 1932 in Burnett, TX to Chris and Jewell and after graduation Evelyn was working in El Paso, where she met and married "Lew." They were transferred several times, finally settling in Albuquerque. She worked for the federal government until her retirement. Evelyn loved flowers, pets, and animals and was a watercolor artist. She was a devoted member of her church, Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. Evelyn was a loving mother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
