DELONG, JIM H. Jim DeLong went to be with our Lord on June 8, 2014. Jim was born in San Angelo, Texas on January 4, 1925 and grew up on the family ranch by the Concho River, south of Christoval, Texas. Except for three years, he resided in the Alamogordo and Cloudcroft area from 1954 until his passing. Following WW II, Jim attended the Merchant Marine Academy where he was certified as a radio officer and spent much of the late 1940's at sea. In 1954, he and his family, at that time, moved to Alamogordo where he was involved with missile telemetry. One of his more enjoyable assignments was at Fort Churchill, Canada from 1957-1958, as part of the International Geophysical year researching the makeup of the Northern Lights. In 1960, he was placed in charge of the tracking station in Corpus Christi, Texas during NASA's Project Mercury returning to New Mexico in 1963 with his second child being born soon after. In the late 1960's, he and his family moved from Cloudcroft to Alamogordo. Before retiring, Jim returned to his love for the sea on ships ranging from the Gulf of Alaska to the Singapore Straights. Most of his life, he was an avid Ham Radio Operator (W5PLH) and maintained contact with other operators throughout the world many years past his retirement. Being raised on a ranch, Jim was also an avid hunter and fisherman, hunting elk until a few years ago. Jim is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Vickery DeLong. He is survived by his two children, Hal (Corinne) DeLong of Carson City, Nevada and Deidra (Lance) Eckerd of Ruidoso, New Mexico; his five grandchildren, Josh (Jen) DeLong of Thornton, Colorado, Sarah (Brett) Godfrey of Westminster, Colorado, Candey (Don) Eldred of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Khrystyne (Will) Kilgore of Lubbock, Texas and Ariadne Eckerd of Ruidoso, New Mexico; his four great- grandchildren, Miriam DeLong of Thornton, Colorado, Naomi DeLong of Thornton Colorado, Vane Eldred of Cloudcroft, New Mexico and Matthias Eldred of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Jim always enjoyed watching the sunsets from his home. In words, he could craft a more beautiful portrait than they saw - loving to share his life and thoughts with family and friends. We will sincerely miss him and his way with words. Services will be held 10:00 am, Friday, June 20, 2014, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home Chapel, 1334 Scenic Drive in Alamogordo, New Mexico with Ronny Rardin officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery, 1590 1' St. in Alamogordo. The Delong family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. BRADY, JEFFREY SCOTT In memory of Jeffrey Scott Brady February 18, 1969 - June 15, 1989 GOD'S HEAVENLY GARDEN Sometimes God picks the flower that is still in full bloom; sometimes the rosebud's chosen that we feel He's picked too soon. There is a heavenly garden in which God takes great pleasure because He's placed within it the loved ones that we treasure. He walks among the blossoms giving them eternal rest, and I know that it must please Him because He chose my very best. Happy Father's Day Daddy! You will be a grandpa around August 13, 2014. His name is Joey. Jeffrey is loved and missed by his daughter, Amanda Marie and Joe Wright; his parents, Millie and Dick Brady; his sisters, Tammy and Mark Rapp and Sydney, Shannon and Mark Knatz, Kellison, Jeffrey and Zachary.

BOZICEVICH, RUTH Ruth Alice Barbara Clemens Bozicevich born Sept. 30, 1923, died June 9, 2014 after living a long and fruitful life. A tough and sweet lady who loved her kids and was loved by them, she always managed to tell it like it is, making us laugh or blush or shrink down! She was a great Mom and homemaker until the age of 50, when she took secretarial training and worked for NMDVR for 15 years. She loved to paint and try new craft ideas, anxiously awaiting the annual craft fairs to go and admire and acquire. She was also an avid rock hound, enjoying the hunt, filling her home and yard with the finds. She also loved Eloy's NM Restaurant; for goodness sake, they even have a picture of her in the kitchen! Ruth lived in Albuquerque during WWII, left for awhile, returned in the 50s and 60s, left for another little while, came back in 1969 and has been here ever since. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathy (David) Stanley of Hernandez, Audrey (Paul) Kunkel of Questa, and Mark (Bridgette) Bozicevich of Cordova TN. Also by her grandchildren, Max (Shannon) Kunkel of Albuquerque. And many nieces and nephews spread across the country. She is preceded in death by her parents Karl and Anna Clemens and ten siblings. Ruth was also somewhat of a poet and wrote this in 2007: If you really love me, tell me now. While I can feel the warmth of your kiss and your heart pulsing next to mine. Don't wait til I'm cold in the grave or reduced to ashes in an urn. People don't want to hear "I loved her so." Tell me NOW so that I'LL know. And I will say to you "I love you so." And you will know and I will know. Funeral Services are entrusted to Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 (505) 821-0010. Visit www.danielsfuneral.com to leave a message if you wish. Ruth did not want any services, and the family will gather in the near future in Pagosa Springs to inter her ashes in a family plot. She would be pleased if you wanted to remember her in some way, by contributing to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org

BENSON, RICHARD (DICK) At age 82, Dick died unexpectedly at home on Sept. 26, 2013, in Bellevue, Wash., where he had retired from teaching math at a local college. Born in Chicago in 1931, Dick had no siblings, but he had many friends in Albuquerque and around the world. He was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in the 1950s as a nuclear weapons officer. Dick loved Albuquerque and in the late 1950s, after a stint as a math researcher at MIT, he enrolled in UNM's math department. During that time, he learned to pilot a Cessna 140, which he bought with his friend Duane Arlowe. Friends recall lively Friday night parties at Dick's house near Old Town. Guests included math and engineering students from various countries - Nepal, China, India, Cambodia, and Nigeria. Anthropology students from the U.S. made another contingent. Dick didn't imbibe as did many of his guests, but he kept everyone supplied with homemade popcorn. Dick taught math at UNM, and later earned his PHD. He taught at Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, and later taught at several Seattle community colleges. In Colorado Dick owned a classic '56 Thunderbird, which he lent to a Nepalese friend Durga Remal, who drove it around the mountain west to find a geology position. Dick went to England to buy a Land Rover for exploring Mexico and the southwest. He still owned that Rover when he died. He flew a single-engine Comanche, and made what a friend recalls was an Indiana-Jones style landing on a primitive grass field at the Mayan Tulum ruins. Dick traveled to Africa, South America and Europe, visiting friends along the way. A certified scuba diver, he visited the Solomon Islands and explored underwater airplane wreckages from World War II. Dick was known for his easy-going ways, his generosity, and his jokes. A free spirit, he enriched the lives of many people. Dick was cremated and his ashes were buried next to his parents, Bennie & Beulah Benson, in Galesburg, Illinois. If you would like to join in a celebration of Dick's life, call 255-9149 and leave a message.
