SANDOVAL, M. HELEN Age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Helen is survived by her brother, Restie Sandoval; niece, Cecilia Sandoval; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernardita Ortego-Sandoval and father, Restituto Sandoval; sister, Paula DeLong; brothers, Esequiel and Eduardo Sandoval; and sister-in-law, Annie Sandoval. Helen was born and raised in Cabezon, NM and attended Harwood Girls School and graduated from Bernalillo High School. Helen moved to Los Angeles in 1956, where she worked until her retirement in 1985. Upon returning to Bernalillo after retirement, Helen was involved in State and Local politics. She also enjoyed travel and working in her garden. Rosary was recited Tuesday, March 26, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 S. Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 10:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. SANDERS, MICHAEL AUGUR (MIC) 7/22/45 - 10/20/12 Lovingly, kind and very generous, Mic was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a marvelous friend. He struggled with his health for quite some time and died at home. Mic owned his own business for many years, Boston Brass and was an excellent business man. He took care of his customers with great zeal. Mic was a christian man. He was also an army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Mic loved animals and his precious wilderness where his ashes are scattered. Mic leaves behind his wife Elaine C. Anthony Sanders; daughter Bree Brown; son Evan Marley David Sanders and partner Rachel Lopez; and two beautiful granddaughters Elizabeth Anne Marie Garcia Sanders and Shelby Banicia Lopez Sanders. Mic also leaves behind two sisters Marsha Milhone and Deborah Kramer and one brother David Sanders; five nieces and nephews. Mic is in God's hands and heart forever. There is no need to worry about him. He is safe and whole. Mic was a quiet man and his services were simple and calm at his request. He will be forever missed.

SALAS, VERONICA born September 14, 1921, passed away on March 25, 2013. She had a long and beautiful life and was loved and cherished by her big and boisterous family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo Salas, brothers, Julian, Pete, Elmer, Gilbert and son in law LeeRoy Montoya who await her in heaven. She is survived by her children, Paul Salas and his wife, Mary; daughters, Andrea Blea and her husband Anthony, Veronica Montoya; son, Pete Sr. and wife Illene. She is also survived by her brothers Walter Garcia, Larry Armenta; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. We loved our sweet mom, sister, grandmother and great grandmother so dearly and feel richly blessed to have had her in our lives. Heaven now has a new angel. A visitation will be held from 3pm-6pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. PRIETO, LILA Age 15, our courageous and precious angel, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 with her brokenhearted family at her side. Lila, whose favorite color was pink, taught us about strength and how to be an incredible friend. She was a Sophomore at Del Norte High School. She loved all kinds of music, talking and texting on her phone, computers, eating McDonald's Chicken Nuggets and French Fries. Lila collected Panda Bears. She was her Daddy's and grandparents' little girl who liked to bully her uncles Sean and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Linda Armijo and Elgie B. McCloud. Lila is survived by her father, Damien Prieto; grandparents, Ernesto and Martha Prieto, and Kathy Baca; a special thank you to caregivers and special cousin, ZeAnna Prieto; aunt Ashley McCauley; great-aunts, Cynthia Baca and Arlene Baca; and many other family members and friends who will forever remember Lila. NETTLES, LONNIE Z. age 94, of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday March 24, 2013. He was born on April 14, 1918 in Sanderson, Florida. His loving wife Estela preceded him in death 30 years ago on August 21, 1982. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Chalmers, Maggie, Ina, Onie and Agnes; and granddaughter Denise Nettles. He is survived by his brother JW Nettles; his son Leonard J. Nettles (Kay); his daughters Agnes Nettles and Beatrice Kurtz (Dick); grandson Dr. Andrew R. Kurtz (Felicia); granddaughters Shelly Lobato (Ed), Diann Jackson, Danielle Nettles, Michele Clarke (Kevin) Jennifer; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and his "little dog companions" Baby and Chico, aka Dixie. Lonnie was a Veteran of WWII serving with the United States Army. He was a retired truck driver with Safeway Stores. His love and knowledge of farming made him a very popular vendor of tomatoes, cucumbers and melons at the VA Hospital and Bernalillo Farmers Markets. He often spent his earning from the sale of his vegetables and fruits on birthday trips to the casino's of Las Vegas, Nevada. Because of his strong belief that no one should ever go hungry he never hesitated to offer a meal. He also delivered food for Meal on Wheels. Visitation with the Nettles family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday March 28, 2013 at Salazar and Sons Mortuary. MEYER, JAMES (JIMMY) Age 84, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on October 26, 1928 in Conway, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ida Rose; sisters, Mary Ann and Dolores; mother of his children, Barbara Meyer; sons, Robert and John; daughter Renee and granddaughter Arren. He is survived by his wife, Helen Campbell-Meyer; brothers Joseph Meyer, Clarence Meyer and Paul Meyer all of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Ida Rose Morgan of Conway, Arkansas; sons, Richard Meyer and wife, Mary, James Meyer Jr., and his wife, Barbara; daughters, Michele Worm and Nicole Meyer all of Albuquerque;daughter-in-law Rhene Meyer of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Jimmy and his twin brother Joe left home at the age of 14 to look for work in the wheat fields of Kansas. They then traveled through the midwest and eastern parts of the United States finding work where they could. They eventually ended up in Grants, NM in 1954 working as Ironworkers at the Grants uranium mines. He eventually settled in Albuquerque in 1955 and opened his first business, Duke City Steel Erectors in 1963. Some of his more notable projects over the next 20 years included The Pit, Pan American Center, St. Joseph Downtown Hospital, the old Federal Building, Solar Tower for Sandia National Labs and the UNM Stadium Press Box. He stayed in the steel erection business until 2004 when an injury and diabetes finally slowed him down. He was always a good provider for his family. He enjoyed reading, learning and fishing. He loved to follow the Lobos and Aggies. Jimmy's best trait was his ability to connect with people. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1001 Barelas SW. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. EDWARDS, BILLYE JUNE Age 83, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Billye was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to San Antonio, Texas in March 2011 to be closer to her family. She was a loving wife and mother who had an unwavering faith in God. She will be greatly missed. Billye was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles W. Edwards. She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her son Charles Edwards, Jr. and his wife Norma, daughter Susan Harbison and husband Rick; grandchildren Marc Harbison and Michael Harbison as well as great-grandchildren, Bailey and Taylor Harbison. An informal memorial/visitation was held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Porter Loring Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William "Bill" Doyle of Albuquerque, NM; children, Eileen Ellison and husband David of Pawnee OK, Ted Doyle and wife Stacey of Austin, TX, Patrick Doyle and fiance Diana Sawczyn of Scottsdale, AZ, and Janice Griego and husband Rick of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren Ryan Ellison and wife Traci of Corpus Christi, TX, Ashley Ellison of Norfolk, VA and Tess Doyle of Austin, TX. She graduated from the University of Michigan, received her master's degree from UNM and taught elementary school for 26 years with APS. She was an avid golfer and a member of Tanoan Women's Golf Association. Sue was proud that she had not only one hole-in-one, but two. She also loved to play bridge. After retirement Sue and Bill enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. CANNADAY, RICKEY &Quot;RICK&Quot; LYNN born February 12, 1966 in Lubbock, TX. Rick grew up in Clovis, NM and graduated from CHS in 1984. He moved to Phoenix, AZ shortly after graduation where he managed several JB's restaurants. In 1989 Rick returned to Albuquerque to manage the kitchen at Midnight Rodeo. Rick married his high school sweetheart, Angela Lokken, from Clovis in 1996. They made a home in Edgewood, NM in 2001. Rick and his brother Troy started a construction company called Cannaday Construction in 1998, where he enjoyed remodeling customers and friends homes throughout the Albuquerque area. Rick enjoyed working around the house utilizing his master woodworking skills. Rick's greatest joys were camping and hiking in the mountains of NM and Colo with his family. He was also an avid skier and outdoorsman. Rick spent the past few winters working and skiing at Sandia Ski Resort. Rick was preceded in death by his brother Troy Cannaday and sister-in-law Tonya Cannaday. He is survived by his loving wife Angela; daughters Heather Walker, Destiny Walker, Taylor Cannaday and Danyele Duncan; parents Lynn and Verna Cannaday; in-laws Richard and Diane Lokken; brother Alan, wife Shelly Cannaday, children Shalan, Christopher, and Bryana; brother Gary, wife Tori, children Ayla, and Austin Cannaday; brother Vance Cannaday; brother-in-law Rick Lokken, wife Patty, children, Hope and Richie Lokken; sister-in-law Nicole Lokken; and Bill Rowe, Ricks best friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard as a machinist mate during WWII. Charles retired from Sandia Labs in 1974 after 33 years of outstanding service.
