GURULE, MARIA A. Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. A lifelong Albuquerque resident, she is survived by her loving family, son, Victor Gurule and wife, Valerie; daughter, Rose Herrera and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Gloria Gurule, Victor Gurule, Matthew Herrera, Manuel Gurule and Teresa Herrera; brother, Manuel Alvarez of El Paso; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Gurule and grandchildren, Andrew Paul Herrera and Angelina Maria Gurule. GEARY, LOIS ANN July 25th, 1929 - June 28th, 2014 Lois Ann Geary was born on July 25th, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN, the second of six children. The family moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1938, where Lois spent the following 23 years. In 1961 Lois arrived in Santa Fe, NM where she lived until her death. Lois was a fixture in the Santa Fe arts community, where she acted in countless stage productions. A member of the Screen Actors Guild, she also appeared in numerous films including Silverado, The Astronaut Farmer, Sunshine Cleaning, and The Last Stand. Lois was also a tireless advocate for animals, volunteering at adoption clinics, animal shelters, and with animal habitat conservation groups. Lois passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 28th, surrounded by friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Bledsoe of Augusta, GA; her sisters Georgianna Tombragel and Joan Blumberg of Cincinnati, OH; her sister Dianne Davis of Tucson, AZ; fifteen nieces and nephews; and her rescued pets Lancelot, Mamie, and Penny. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 107 West Barcelona Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505. All are welcome. DOCKWEILLER, VIRGINIA C. Age 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014. She is survived by her children, Margaret "Peggy" Whitson and husband, Cecil, Albert "Al" Dockwiller and wife, Pat, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Smythe, Christopher "Chris" Dockweiller, and Suzanne "Susie" Dockweiller; eight grandchildren, Laurie, Gene, Leslie, Jaime, David, Danny, Todd, and Hannah; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Dockweiller and her daughter-in-law, Kathryn P. Dockweiller. Mrs. Dockweiller was a founding member of Holy Ghost Parish. CORN-SMART, AUDREY BERNICE MACK Audrey Bernice Mack Corn-Smart passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Anna Kaseman Hospice at the age 93. She was the youngest of six children born on November 6, 1920 in Jetmore, KS to Herbert Avery Mack and Jessie Rae Beaver. After graduation she attended El Dorado Junior College. On December 24, 1942 she married Lloyd Leonard Corn (1920-1980). They adopted their only child, Stephanie Mack Corn in 1953. Audrey worked many years at the University of Denver as a registrar at the College of Social Work. After Lloyd's passing, she moved to Mesa, AZ to be closer to her daughter's family. There she met and married Robert Glenn Smart in 1985. After he passed in 2004, she moved to Albuquerque, NM to once again be closer to her daughter's family. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Corn Johnstone and her husband Joel Johnstone of Albuquerque, NM and their children, Ashley Mack Johnstone Kidwell and husband Justin of San Diego, CA, and Kelsey Stewart Johnstone of Albuquerque, NM. Audrey leaves many friends at both Montebello and Atria Vista del Rio retirement communities and in particular, her special friend Barnie Thorpe. CORDOVA, EVA L. 1933 - 2014 Eva L. Cordova, age 80, a lifetime resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Early on in her life, she worked at several places in Los Lunas, including the Huning Mercantile and the Los Lunas Movie Theater. While working at the theater she met the love of her life, Marcelino, known to her as "Bache". Her greatest joy was being a rancher's wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great- grandmother. Her life's happiness was spending time with her husband and family and watching it grow to several generations. She was best known for her wonderful baking and cooking skills, and never let anyone go hungry in her house. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marcelino J. Cordova; parents, Ramon and Theresa Luna; sisters, Mela Garcia, Virginia Carrasco and Reina Luna; and brother, Fred Luna; granddaughter, Maria Antoinette Otero; and in-laws, Andres and Ignacita Cordova. CHESTER, JOHN longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on Saturday June 28, 2014 surrounded by family. John was born in South Bend, Indiana to Isabel Murphy and Ralph Myers. John grew up and went to high school in Elkhart, Indiana. He joined the Air Force In the early fifties and served at Kirtland Air Force base during the Korean War. He returned to Albuquerque soon after his military service to escape the cold Indiana winters. John was preceded in death by his sisters Ann Fuller, Mary Cook, and Beth Martin. John is survived by his wife, JoAnn and sisters Martha Scantlen and Ruth Pabreza; sons David B, John Jordan, Danny (Terri), and David A. (Christine); daughters Leslie Marini, Jennifer Connor (Terrence), and Jayme RyAnn; grandchildren Sean, Tanner, and Taryn; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge DR. N.E. CARTIER, MARCO M. Marco M. Cartier, born in Longbeach, California on March 8, 1953 passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, NM following a long illness on June 26, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacques and Zinaida Cartier. He is survived by three natural children; a stepdaughter; and many friends. LOVETT, VIOLA ELIZABETH (ROBERTS) Born in Bailey, MS and went to heaven June 28, 2014, at home, surrounded by family. Viola, age 99 was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert "Louis" Lovett. She is survived by sons Wade Lovett and wife Marie of Florida, Algene Lovett and wife Lloyce of Nevada; and daughter Mildred Landis of Albuquerque. She was lovingly called Nannan by eight grandchildren; nine great-grand- children; and five great-great- grandchildren. Viola worked at Pioneer Wear for over 25 years and was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. She was very proud of the fact that she visited all 50 states and loved traveling in a motor home. Viola has lived at Bear Canyon Retirement Center since 2005, and leaves behind many, many dear friends. She was an inspiration to many, and was loved and will be missed by all. KAWKA, HELEN J. Age 93, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Stephen Kawka, in 2000. She is survived by her son, Stanley Kawka and his wife, Nancy, and their two daughters, Jennifer and Christina. Helen will be interred with Steve at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Helen was born on November 2, 1920 in New York City, NY. During WWII, Helen worked in Manhattan's iconic Woolworth building for the Kellex Corporation, which, as part of the Manhattan Project, was responsible for the design and operation of the gaseous diffusion facility in Oak Ridge, TN. Helen immensely enjoyed playing the piano by ear, having been self-taught. FARLEY, PATRICIA ELIZABETH died peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Pat was born in Denver, CO, the daughter of Oneita and Frank Farley in 1918. In 1948, Pat moved to Albuquerque, NM and started working at Sandia National Laboratories. She, her mother, and her youngest sister, Sheila, came to live with Pat's sister, Mary Jane, and brother-in-law, Bill Denison. Pat retired after 25 years from Sandia National Laboratories. She and her mother enjoyed traveling in Europe. She assisted and volunteered at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. Pat's long illness has been a heartache we could not heal, but we will remember her life with joy in our hearts. She is survived by her sister, Sheila Farley Delancey; brother-in-law, William "Bill" J. Denison; and numerous nieces and nephews across the country.
