SKINNER, STEPHEN E. &Quot;STEVE&Quot; Age 60, beloved companion, brother, and nephew, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, August 4, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, KS and was a resident of Alameda, NM. Steve was raised in Winnetka, IL and lived there until he graduated from New Trier High School. He then attended the University of New Mexico and remained in Albuquerque until his death. After college, Steve purchased the Alameda Greenhouse and successfully ran the business for almost 40 years. Alameda Greenhouse was his passion in life and through the business he became well known in the community. He considered his employees family and the customers his friends. Throughout Steve's life he unselfishly gave to others and his generosity and kindness will not be forgotten. He touched many hearts and we will all miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Joe Skinner; and his sister, Joanne Morgan. Steve is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Kimberly Reaume; his brother, Jim Skinner of Lake Forest, IL; and his Uncle Tom Skinner of Clay Center, KS; his adopted mother, Louise Bouton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, where Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. ROSELIUS, CLEON R. CLEON R. ROSELIUS Age 92, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at his home. Cleon was born on May 16, 1922, in Edgemont, South Dakota. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1941 and furthered his education at Lincoln, Nebraska. Cleon began working for Nebraska Public Power District in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1947. He was later transferred to Norfolk, Nebraska as District Superintendent and then later as Regional Manager for Northeast Nebraska. In 1978, he was transferred to Columbus, Nebraska as Director of Administration. He retired in 1984. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Verna; son, Wayne R. Roselius (Shirley) of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Scott R. Roselius of Albuquerque; and a brother, Robert E. Roselius of St. James, Missouri. Cleon has seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Roselius and by his parents and sisters. After retirement, Cleon and Verna traveled extensively and then moved to Kaneohe, Hawaii where they resided for several years. They moved from Hawaii to Albuquerque in 1995. Cleon enjoyed sailing, square dancing and spending time with family. Cleon was active in Kiwanis, United Fund, the Methodist Church, square dance club and was on the governing board and chairman of Northeast Nebraska Community College. There is no visitation or funeral service planned.

RAMIREZ, MERCEDES born in Puerto Rico 12/3/1914 and longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus, her beloved Lord and Savior on July 14, 2014 at the age of 99 years 7 months and 11 days. Much loved mother of Carmen Ramirez Snipes and husband Art of Albuquerque, and Melba Perry; grandmother of Vionette Perry of Florida; and sister of Ernesto Ramirez, Carmen Eva and Guillermo Irizarry of Puerto Rico. She left behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services to celebrate her life will be led by Pastor Galen Woodward at Copper Pointe Church, 10500 Copper NE in Albuquerque at 12 noon on Thursday, August 14, 2014. NIDEL, SARAH HELEN Sarah Helen Nidel (nee Gilbert), 82, passed away peacefully 12 June 2014 at her home in Port Orchard, Washington. Sarah Helen is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Brookbank and Valerie Duval; son-in-law, Jeff Simmonds; grandson, Richard Duval; granddaughter, Patricia Allen; grandson-in-law, Art Almerez; great-grandson, Logan Almerez; and step-sons, David and Greg Nidel. Sarah Helen was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She moved to New Mexico in 1949 to attend the University of New Mexico. She was a resident for the next 60 years in what she called, "God's country." She graduated from UNM with a degree in education. While raising her family, she was very active in the Junior League creating extraordinary costumes for their Children's Theatre. She was always very interested in home design and later worked for a Construction Firm where she met her husband of over 35 years, Paul. She was a director of activities at an Albuquerque senior center-a job she really enjoyed as it utilized so many of her talents. She and Paul built a custom home in Los Lunas in 1990 and lived there until Paul's death in 2009. She spent her final years close to her family in Washington State, a great blessing for them. MARTINEZ, MARK D. Mark went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2014. Mark was born May 6, 1981 in Mission Hills, California. Mark's family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1991. He graduated in 1999 from Del Norte High School. Mark attended UNM and loved his Lobos. Mark was preceded in death by his paternal, maternal grandparents and other extended family members. Mark is survived by his parents Fidel and Katherine Martinez; sister Denise Logan and husband Bobby; brother Alex; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of his family. Mark was greatly loved by his family and many friends. Due to his sister living in South Korea and expecting his first niece any time soon she is unable to attend a final laying of Mark to rest. When we have a definite date of her return we will plan a final ceremony in the spring to lay Mark to rest. We will run a notification in the obituary section of the newspaper at that time.

LAMB, WILLIAM MCIVER &Quot;MAC&Quot; Age 95, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014 after a long illness. Mac was welcomed into heaven by his wife, Viola, his daughters Lorinda and Cathy, his brother Dick, his granddaughter Alison, and many other beloved family members and friends. He is survived by his granddaughter Jennifer, his son-in-law Tony, his niece Kathleen, his nephews Tom and Dan and their spouses and children as well as other family members. Mac was born in Deming, New Mexico and spent time living in Lordsburg, Lake Valley, Hillsboro, Albuquerque, and Gallup. Mac married Viola in 1940 and shortly thereafter starting working for the Santa Fe Railroad first as a brakeman then as a conductor until he retired in 1979. In 1946 the Lambs moved to Gallup, New Mexico and then in 1952 became one of the founding members of the Gallup Christian Church. Mac had a great love for New Mexico and spent many wonderful years camping, fishing, and exploring its canyons and lakes. Mac also enjoyed writing, storytelling, gardening, and sharing his faith in Jesus. His family wishes to honor his life privately, therefore no services will be held. KURZEKA, CARRIE Carrie Kurzeka, age 54, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away July 31, 2014 after a long illness. Carrie was born June 14, 1960 in Erie, PA, the daughter of James E and Helen Hodas Kirsch. A graduate of Highland High and The University of New Mexico, Carrie worked as an auditor for Albuquerque National Bank and Sunwest Bank then as the office manager for O'Malley Glass. She is survived by her husband of 29 years Rob Kurzeka; their daughter Susan Kurzeka; her mother Helen Kirsch; brother Karl and his wife Iris Kirsch; and brother David Kirsch. Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 14th at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas NE. Burial will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, August 15th at 12:45 PM.

KOSAR, WILLIAM (BILL) Bill was born in Yonkers, NY, on November 27, 1927 the son of the late Samuel and Teresa Kantor Kosar. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Michael, John, Andrew, and Peter, and his sisters, Helen Carpenter and Ann Fairhurst, and his very close friend and Bridge buddy, Carol Sanna. Bill was educated in the Yonkers school system. He joined the Army and served stateside for three years. Bill left Yonkers to find his fortune, which took him to California and a career with the Union Pacific Railroad. During these years, Bill found great joy in backpacking and hiking throughout the Sierras, and also climbed Mt. Whitney. He embraced nature with its beauty, peace and tranquility. He was an active golfer, and a very successful fly fisherman. Bill also found great joy in owning and showing Weimaraner dogs. An accomplished and formidable bridge player, Bill was a member of the Duke City Bridge Club, where he had many friends. Bill played bridge several days a week and was very proud of his master point status. Bill's other interests included cooking, classical music and he was a connoisseur of fine wines. Bill is survived by several nieces and nephews, Andrew and John Kosar, of Yonkers, NY; Denis Kosar and wife, Annette of Commack, NY, George S. Fairhurst and wife, Julie of Wappinger Falls, NY, Mary Jane Habza and husband, David Wassermann, of Southport, CT, Gail Bennett and Patricia Fairhurst of Wappinger Falls, NY, and Christine Scher and her husband, Chuck, of Jackson, N.J. He is also survived by several grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by his good friends, David and Sue Hanauer of Rio Rancho, and his beloved dog, Poco, his friend and companion. KING, VICTORIA (VICKY) MARIE Victoria (Vicky) Marie King, age 72, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born May 9, 1942 in Gallup, NM. Vicky joined her grandmother Victoria Rocco, mother Louisa Barnbaum, father George Barnbaum, son Billy King Jr, two sisters Johannah Akins, Leona Barnbaum and many other family members in Heaven on July 29, 2014. She is survived by her daughter Diana Owens; her sister Marilyn Kincaid; her grandchildren Dustin Owens, Kimberly Owens, Christopher King. Vicky enjoyed many activities such as bowling, playing bridge, and swimming. She will be missed by many. HENRIKSEN, BARBARA SMILEY Barbara, our Jewel, left us on Thursday, July 31st, 2014. She devoted her life to nurturing her family, maintaining friendships, and involving herself in community service activities. She was a school teacher, master Head Start leader, Scout mother, Bible study instructor, narrator for Smithsonian Books for the Blind, teacher of English as a Second Language, and real estate broker. Barbara was a resident of Albuquerque for 28 years, during which time she chaired the Albuquerque Council for International Visitors, served on the board of Casa Angelica, and hosted and guided many visitors from other countries. She enriched the lives of the people she met. Born in Long Beach, CA in 1930, Barbara grew up with her grandparents, E.M. and Maud Smiley on ranches in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before moving to Redlands, CA during WWII. In Redlands she met her husband, Lester with whom she shared a 64 year marriage. As mother of three young children, she returned to college and graduated with a Masters with Honors in History from the University of Colorado. She passed on her love of books and learning to her husband & children. All who knew Barbara were affected by her kind and gentle nature. She infused her family with warmth and understanding and a love for living things. She was widely read, and had a keen intelligence. She inspired those around her by overcoming many physical challenges. She greeted each morning with a smile and, even when ending the day in great pain, always remarked that "Tomorrow will be a better day." Barbara's indomitable spirit and dignity in the face of great adversity will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Barbara is survived by her husband, Lester Henriksen; daughter, Clare Henriksen and partner Stephen Kalish of Madison, WI; daughter Marta Henriksen of Albuquerque; son, Lars Henriksen, of VA; granddaughter, Kelsey Gernert Every and wife Mo Gernert of Boston, MA; grandson, Benjamin Gernert of Portland, OR; grandson, Christopher Gernert of Madison, WI; grand daughters Kaia and Anika Henriksen of VA; brother, John Smiley of Tacoma, WA; and two cats, Sammy and Minnie. There will be a gathering of friends and family next spring to celebrate Barbara's life. GOTTSCHLING, EDWARD W. Edward W. Gottschling Age 78, former resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home in Mesa, AZ on Saturday, August 2, 2014. He was born in Birmingham, Ohio, on February 25, 1936 to Steve and Sara Gottschling. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army and was a civilian employee at Kirtland AFB. He enjoyed camping, fishing and his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Carl Gottschling and sisters, Frieda Hutchins, Anna Bungard, and Margaret Grundy. DURAN, MARIA ANTONIA GUTIERREZ (MARY) Maria Antonia Gutierrez Duran (Mary) was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings that died at birth, and brothers, Elfido Gutierrez, Antonio Jose (Tony) Gutierrez and Alisandro (Alex) Gutierrez. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard. She is survived by her children, Sandra Duran Poole and husband Chad and Orlando Duran and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Christian Duran and Lucinda Duran; great- granddaughters, Leyla Livinia and Desaray Elizabeth Cocio; sisters, Molly Romero, Fannie Tafoya, Dolores Gallegos and Rita Medina; brothers, Paul Gutierrez and Ignacio Gutierrez, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was second of 15 live births born to Ignacio Gutierrez and Juanita Chavez Gutierrez in Van Houten in Colfax County, NM. Born in the Great Depression in 1922, she was an incredibly strong woman. She assisted in raising 13 of her siblings and eventually became the matriarch of the family. She worked very hard all her life and lived by her faith. She married Richard in 1951 and moved to Wyoming and eventually returned to New Mexico where their children were born. She was a homemaker where she was happy taking care of her family. She and her husband traveled to Mexico, Canada and various states on vacations with their children. Mary was compassionate and generous. She loved animals and they loved her. She cared for several pets during her lifetime as well as feeding stray animals that came around. In her younger years, she loved to dance and sing. She was funny and fun-loving. She was loved and will truly be missed by all. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Second Presbyterian Church, 808 Edith Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
