She is survived by her husband Jarrett Martinez; children Desirah, Serenity and Lucia Santillanes, Jana, Savannah, Isaiah, Ariana, Julian Martinez; grandparents (parents) Julian and Patricia Gomez; sisters Danielle and Nora Gomez; brother Julian (Freddie) Gomez; mother-in-law, Theresa Minto; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be dearly missed, "Never Forgotten". A service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1:30 at Sandia Nazarene Church, 8216 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.

JONES, HOWARD MARSHALL Howard, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, was born in Jamestown, NY on March 3, 1933. He passed away August 24, 2014. He is survived by his wife Jean; sons Mark Jones of Albuquerque, David Jones (and wife Joy Torres) of White Rock, NM; his daughter Heather Liming (and husband Stephan,) of Deer Park, TX; his sisters Cara Moore of Rio Rancho and Kathy Jones-Haberman of Manhattan, NY. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding Howard in death are his parents, his daughter Megan Jones and his brother Hoyt Jones. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 13th at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE. The family sends sincere thanks to the folks at Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care in Howard's last days. ELLERD, WILLIAM AUDY William Audy Ellerd, 86, joined his parents William and Hulda Ellerd, sister Oma Waller, sons Billy Don Ellerd and Jack Ellerd, daughter Carolyn Ellerd, grandson Ivan Ellerd and numerous other relatives on Sunday, August 24, 2014. He was born March 24, 1928 at Abernathy, Texas. He married Nelda Hinson on August 31, 1950. William had five (5) children, six (6) grandchildren and five (5) great-grandchildren. William is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Nelda Ellerd; his daughter Marilyn Townsend (John); his son Bruce Ellerd (Frances); his brother Tully Ellerd; his sister Lillie Verl Moraites; his grandchildren Curt Bilberry, Kierstin Garcia (Phillip), Kyle Townsend, Salina Ellerd (Anthony), Melanie Ellerd; along with his great-grandchildren Brandon Hott, Merissa Torres, Anthony Torres, Isaac Torres, and Damian Garcia. There will be a Memorial Service on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 9:30 am. Location is Copper Point Church at 10500 Copper Avenue, Albuquerque, NM 87123. William was in the Raymond G Murphy VA Hospital in Albuquerque during his last weeks of life. The nurses and doctors on that unit treated him with the utmost respect and thanked him daily for his service in the Air Force. The family would like to thank everybody who cared for William during his stay in the VA Hospital.

CARLSON, CHARLES WAYNE Age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Born April 17, 1929, he is survived by his four children, Catherine Carlson Plummer, Krista Carvajal, Cheryl Carlson Altares, and Charles Carlson, Jr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren (Karin, Victoria, Elliot, James, Danielle, Alexis, Timothy, Erin, and Colleen); four great-grandchildren (Madison, Jackson, Cole and Derrick). We all loved him dearly and will miss him so much. Charles attended Gettysburg College, where he met the love of his life, Virginia, who preceded him in death shortly before their 60th wedding anniversary. Charles completed the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary and a Master of History at University of Pittsburgh. He had a long and rich career as a pastor, teacher and musician. He sang with the Bach Choir in Bethlehem for more than a decade, and performed at Carnegie Hall with the Philadelphia Symphony. He enjoyed many years traveling all over the world with Virginia, and always tried to help those in need. In his retirement he volunteered regularly for Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Memorial services will be held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, Saturday, September 6 at 10:30 am. BROWNRIGG, CHARLES STUART Charles Stuart Brownrigg, 69, died in Tucson on August 25th. His family, who loved him dearly, include Carolyn, his wife of 47 years; sons Christopher, Clifton and Craig Brownrigg (deceased); grandchildren Angus, Ruby and Max Brownrigg; nephews Kevin and Keith Brownrigg and Alexander, Zachary and Eric Hansen. Charles' parents, Robert Brownrigg and Dorothy (Akin) Brownrigg, and brother, Robert "Bruce" Brownrigg preceded him in death. Charles leaves behind kind and caring friends and family, including the Honorable Sharon Hansen (Ret.), Dr. Karl Hansen, Lorene Brownrigg, Alison Brownrigg, Dana Brownrigg and Courtney Hansen. Charles was born in Pueblo, Colorado and came from a Colorado pioneer family. After college he taught art for Window Rock School District. The family later moved to New Mexico, where he retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2012. The family recently moved to Tucson, Arizona. A private Memorial is planned with burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George T. Argeanas; and brother, Cleo Hallmark. Aleene was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend. A Trisagion will be recited on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. She is survived by her three daughters Leslie Speer of Oakland, CA, Stacey (Speer) Beck and her husband Steve, and their son Grant of Long Beach, CA, and Samantha Speer of San Diego, CA; and her loving husband James Wilkins of Placitas. She was a retired school teacher of San Diego and Albuquerque Public Schools. She loved the ocean, gardening, but most of all, her beautiful mountain of Placitas.

WHALEN, TIMOTHY H. Tim Whalen Age 66, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014. He is survived by his two sons, Kevin and Ryan Whalen. Mr. Whalen, as he was known to most, impacted the lives of thousands as Principal of Manzano High School, Principal of Jefferson Middle School, and Assistant Principal of Sandia High School over his 36-year career in Albuquerque Public Schools. Never one to rest on his laurels, he was enthusiastically beginning his seventh year as Principal of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School. Tim Whalen received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Louisiana State University and a postgraduate degree from the University of New Mexico. The Rosary will be recited Monday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4020 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM). Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 2nd at at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima. VIRGILIO, ALBERT JOHN Dearly loved, age 67, passed away August 28, 2014. He has been a resident of Rio Rancho since 1999. Al was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country. He retired in 1997 after a 20 year career as a Marketing Executive with Southern Wine and Spirits and Brown-Forman Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne and son, Brian. He was generous with his kindness and offered advice and support unconditionally and he was admired for his protective spirit to those he loved. He enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop and smoking cigars with his many friends. God will certainly have his hands full with this little stinker. THOMSON, KATHRYN A. (NEE: MURPHY) Kathryn, better known as Kay and to some as Mrs. T., died August 24, 2014 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty-five years, Joseph F. Thomson, Sr., and her eldest son, Joseph F. Thomson, Jr., former Bernalillo County Assessor. Kay was born on September 7, 1916, in Fall River, Massachusetts and was raised in South Groveland, Massachusetts by an aunt and uncle, after the death of her father, a Fall River police officer who died due to the Spanish influenza pandemic (1918-1919). After marrying on May 18, 1940, Kay and Joe lived in the Kingsbridge section of the west Bronx, New York City, N.Y., attended Our Lady of Angels Church, served on its altar guild and rosary society, and raised four children who attended the parish school. Kay worked for many years in dental offices as an assistant and receptionist. After Joe's retirement from the New York Stock Exchange in 1973, they moved to Albuquerque, N.M. Kay, known as Mima to her grandchildren, volunteered for many years at University of New Mexico Hospital caring for newborns, particularly preemies, by holding and rocking them while softly talking and singing to them. At the time, Kay was featured on a news program highlighting hospital volunteers. Kay loved to play Maj Jong and each year anxiously awaited the new "cards." She also enjoyed a good game of bridge with her friends. She had a 90th birthday party which was attended by many relatives and friends. Kay is survived by Dr. Brendan Thomson and his wife, Sandra, of Phoenix and Flagstaff, AZ; retired state District Court Judge Gerard Thomson, and his wife, Gloria Tristani, former Federal Communications Commission of Chevy Chase, Maryland; and Kathy Thomson, who works and coached at Albuquerque Public Schools; grandchildren, Brendan M. and his wife, Stephanie, Ryan and his wife, Harmony, Michael, Andrew and his wife, Amie, and their children, Mia and Henry, Gerard Jr. (Roddy) and his wife, Erika, and their children, Paisley and Olivia, Dennis and his wife, Michelle and their daughters, Josephine and Eleonore, Jorge, Vanesa and her husband, Caesar Nunez and their son, Javier. SWAUGER, CHARLENE S. The family of Charlene Sue Wingren Swauger lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend on August 26, 2014. The family celebrates the life she lived and the love she gave to us all! Charlene was born on June 8, 1943, in Topeka, KS to Mary Jane Leatherman Wingren and Charles S. Wingren. The family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1953 where Charlene attended Monroe Jr. High School and was a member of the third graduating class of Sandia High School. She continued with her education at Heights Beauty College. Charlene married her high school sweetheart, John Edward Swauger, on June 2, 1961 and the couple recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Charlene's world was centered around her family, daughter, Judy Leckie and husband Scott; daughter, Tracy Seckler and husband Quint; grandchildren, Jordan and Shannon Leckie, Megan, Madison, and Nathan Seckler; sister, Vada Lent and husband Ron; nieces, Gretchen Lent and Heidi Sanders. Her career path started in a beauty salon and evolved to upper management in the hotel business. Charlene served as the President of the Greater Albuquerque Innkeepers Association. She retired as the General Manager of the MCM Elegante Hotel. After she retired, she found great joy in volunteering at the Albuquerque Assistance League where she served as treasurer. STANHOPE, JOHN WILLIAM Passed away peacefully on August 26, 2014 at 94 years of age, after a brief illness. He was born in Cedar Kansas on October 2, 1919 to John and Elsie. He met the love of his life, Natalie McCall in 1939 and they married on December 24, 1942 in Bremerton, Washington. They were married 70 1/2 years until she passed away on July 12, 2013. John was a WWII Pearl Harbor Survivor aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee and also was proud that he served in both the Pacific and Atlantic. He was discharged in 1946 as a Chief Machinist Mate. He moved from Ellsworth, KS to Los Alamos, NM in 1951 to work with Zia Company at the LANL Power Plant where he was employed for 35 years until retirement in 1986, then moving to Albuquerque in 1995. After that they RV'ed extensively in the US and Canada and also enjoyed trips to Alaska and Hawaii. John loved the Jemez Mountains, and remembered when State Road 4 was just an old dirt road until paved in the early 1960's. John loved the Old Baca Ranch, and enjoyed a private tour with lunch at the ranch. He worked with race horses and exercised grey hounds for only 25 cents a day when he was 16 years old. His last ride was on his daughter Cathy's horse Charlie when he was 77 years old. Many happy family memories were had while picnicing in the Jemez Mountains and at his daughter Cathy's homestead. John gave a benefit talk about Pearl Harbor at the American Legion Hall in Jemez Springs on September 28, 2013. He loved to share his stories about Pearl Harbor and being interviewed numerous times by local TV stations and the ABQ Journal. He fought for our freedom and lived and loved to tell his story. John loved his family very much and was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his wife Natalie, parents John and Elise, brothers, Claude, Warren, Chet and sisters Mildred, Nellie, Vera. He is survived by his son Craig (wife Wanda); daughter Sondra (husband Dave Mollohan) and Cathy Renee; his grandchildren, David, Laura, Travis and Brandon (finance Christina); great- grandchildren Kami, Kaitlin, and Michael; nieces and nephews Jim and Vanetta Anderson, Steve and Trinh Keirns, Larry and Carol Stanhope, Ron and Bonnie Stanhope, Cher and Steve Pendarvis, Naomi and Gwen, Cynthia, Kent and Lynette; sisters-in-law Joan McCall and Myrna Stanhope. Interment and a memorial will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations made under his name to the American Legion Hall Post #75, PO Box 214, Jemez Springs, NM 87025. He wanted these donations to go towards a new building for the local veterans. May you rest in peace John - you were the best dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. We already miss your stories. SEYLER, GERALDINE LILLIAN (GERRY) Age 78, a resident of Rio Rancho since 2001, died Sunday August 24, 2014 peacefully at her home with her twin sister Ginny by her side. Gerry is survived by her daughter Valerie Seyler and husband Kevin O'Connell of Haverford PA; her son John Seyler and wife Marilyn Metter of Boothwyn, PA; and her son Dan Seyler and wife Andrea of Southlake, TX. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, John, Matthew, Ian, Jordan, Jason, and Rachel Seyler. She is also survived by her two sisters Eileen Granich and Virginia Jordan of San Francisco, CA as well as nephew Michael Granich and niece Katie Sommer, and many friends. Gerry was an active member of the Vestry of St. Francis Episcopal Church of Rio Rancho, served for many years as a volunteer for CASA of New Mexico, and regularly helped at Storehouse West in Rio Rancho. Gerry was a competitive bowler, an active table tennis player, an award-winning member of the Iris Society, and an active hiker of her adopted state in the land of enchantment. Prior to retirement, Gerry was a dedicated teacher working with children with special needs. SAYLOR, KATHERINE ANN of Albuquerque, NM, age 65, was called back to God on August 18, 2014, with grace and ease after a long illness. Her loving family was at her bedside. Cremation has taken place. At her request, there will be no memorial service. Katherine enjoyed the political scene and met her husband Bill Sayor at the Ross Perot campaign office in 1992. They were married in May 1997. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling. She was devoted to her cats. Katherine authored a book which has not yet been published. Katherine was preceded in death by her loving mother Gina Bersch and her sweet mother-in-law Mary Saylor who adored her. Surviving family includes her loving husband and companion Bill Sayor; son Joe and granddaughter Alexa of Coeur d' Alene, ID; sisters Judy Mondragon of Albuquerque, Jean Deaton and Mary Lindsey of Madison, IN, and Loretta Bersch of El Paso, TX; two brothers Mark Bersch of Albuquerque and Michael Bersch of Seattle, WA; her long time friend Mary Lynn Fleming of Coeur d' Alene, ID; sisters-in-law Debi Saylor Pierce of Albuquerque, Janie Kwitowski of OK, and Lora Shilling of MO; as well as many nieces and nephews. All who knew Katherine were touched by her loving heart, spiritual wisdom, insights, experiences, and her vast knowledge of life. She is in our hearts forever and we treasure our precious memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to fish and wildlife, control the pet population, or a charity of your choice. Until we meet again, Katherine, we will miss you greatly.
