Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marianna Connolly. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Barbara was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. WILLIAMS, NANCY (CRUZ) was born April 22, 1948, age 64, and a resident of Albuquerque, NM, departed this life to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Abel Cruz; brother, Billy Cruz; niece, Christina Delgado and great-niece, Jennifer Maes. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Earl (Willie) Williams; son, Robert Williams of Las Cruces; daughters, Gloria Williams and Angel Duran of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Julian Joe-Duran and Joslyn Duran of Albuquerque; mother, Flora Cruz; sisters, Betty Delgado and Cenaida (Billy) Maes; brother, Abel (Jerri) Cruz as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who she held close to her heart. Nancy will be remembered for her gracious generosity and kind heart. She will be greatly missed by all and forever loved. A Rosary will be recited at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3424 4th St. NW, ABQ. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 7:00pm, with a reception to follow at St. Therese School cafeteria behind the church. Loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great- grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 88. She was born in Cerrillos, NM to Frank and Carlotta Martinez. Esther adored her family and loved spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Miguel Tapia, Lisa McGinley, Virginia Gallegos, Richard Tapia, Charlie Tapia, Johnie Tapia, Bennie Tapia, Beatrice Corriz, Betalia, and Billie Martinez. Esther is survived by her children Cruzita Tapia, Victoria Martinez, Charlotte and husband Richard Gonzales, Maria and husband David Campos, Nellie and husband Gilbert Artiaga, Chris Tapia, Oliver and wife Lucille Tapia, Randall and wife Terese Tapia and Anthony Tapia; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great- great- grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends. QUINTANA, RUDY SR. age 61, suddenly went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Lucilla Quintana. He is survived by his children, Rudy Jr., (Reve Martinez), April, Natasha (Michael) Johnathan; numerous grandchildren; lifelong companion Rosemary; brothers and sisters, Angie, Edwina, Margret, Lucille, Jeanette, Tim Quintana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy was well known as a musician in Santa Fe playing the guitar as a Mariachi, a hard worker, joker, and an upbeat loving, caring and friendly man. We love you and will miss you greatly. PEREA, ROY SALAS was born on August 5, 1922 in Madrid NM and passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the V.A.M.C. in ABQ. Roy honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed dancing, animals, especially birds, taking long walks, talking with and meeting new people. Roy loved to joke and enjoy life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Perea; two daughters, Gloria Jean Perea and Dolores Sanchez; grandson, Richard Roy Perea; great-grandson, Aaron Taylor. Roy is survived by his five children, Leroy Valles and wife, Kris, Victor Perea, Robert Perea and wife, Evelyn, Irene Trujillo and husband, Jack, Emily Gomez and husband, Silverio, all of ABQ; one brother; two sisters; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other family and friends who loved and will miss him. MELETANI, OLGA From Albuquerque, NM, was called home to be with our Lord on April 3, 2013 with family members by her side. She was born on November 11, 1925 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Child of Christopher and Annie Meletani. She worked for several lumber companies in Albuquerque as an accountant and then moved with the lumber business where she settled in Sonora, California in 1948. She retired after 40 years of service and returned to Albuquerque in 2003 to be close to family. She is survived by her beloved "little sister" Enise Sandoval and her husband Louis Sandoval; nephew Chris and wife Carol; nieces Kathy and husband Bob, Anna and partner Clyde, Donna and "Baby". She also has six great-nephews and nieces; and five great-great-nephews and nieces. There will be a private service with her immediate family. Arrangements are being made through Riverside Funeral Home.

MAJESKIE, ELIZABETH R. Age 86 and a resident of Rio Rancho since 1977, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born to Norman and Eva Widstrand on May 18, 1926 in Crystal Falls, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob), son, Richard, and daughter, Nadine Trimborn. Bette is survived by her children: Deborah Sullivan, Marlane Gabel Barton (Roger); Denice MacDonald; Gerard (Carolyn); Peggy Schofield (Ernest); and Melissa Stephens (Theo). She is, also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan, Scott, Daniel, Stephanie, Brian, Kelley, Katie, Angela, Jeremy, Kayla, and Kelli Anne; and her great-grandchildren: Mallory, Ethan, Jessika, and Isabella; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bette was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 118, Rio Rancho Elks Club and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She was an avid reader of books; loved music, making boiled dinners, pasties and fudge for her family; playing bingo and spending time at the casino. HIJAR, MARY ELLEN Age 74, found complete healing on April 5, 2013 and now rests in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in Duran, NM on March 9, 1939 to Guillermo and Casimira Hijar. She graduated from Encino High School. After graduation she moved to Albuquerque and eventually went to work for General Electric, where she retired in 1999. She remained in Albuquerque, where she kept an open and loving home until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter, Rose Anne Hijar, and her sister, Inez Lucero. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Hijar, granddaughter, Kyra Hijar-Pizarro both of Albuquerque; her sisters Carmen Larranaga and husband Flavio of Anton Chico, NM; Arcelia Jaramillo, and Leonor Mendez, of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Mary Ellen devoted her life to those she loved and was always there for family and friends. We always knew we could find a warm heart, a warm hug, and a warm meal at Aunties' house. She found enjoyment in keeping a welcoming home, was a devout Catholic, an avid Lobos fan, and loved music and dancing. Her greatest joy came from her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother (Tita), auntie, and godmother. The last few years were spent helping take care of her granddaughter, Kyra, who awoke her youthful spirit and brought her much love, pride, and delight. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Society, the Mount Carmel Society of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and also served as a union representative at GE. She loved her family and friends deeply, leaving a beautiful legacy of love and service for all to follow. A loving daughter, sister, mother, grandma "Tita", Nina, Auntie, cousin, and friend, Mary Ellen will be remembered for her genuinely caring heart and compassionate soul. Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Duran on Thursday, April 11, 2013. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gabaldon Mortuary.

GARCIA, OLITA P. Olita left this world to join our Lord on April 7, 2013. She was born on May 22, 1925 in Lake Arthur, NM. Her parents were Rufino Padilla and Guadalupe Zamora Padilla Aldaz. She grew up in a blended family of eight siblings along with her mother and step-father, Epifano "Barney" Aldaz. Her siblings included, Perry Zamora, Lorenzo Aldaz, Isabel Aldaz, Nellie Baca, Ruby Padilla, Jack Padilla, Pat Aldaz and Joe Aldaz. Olita grew up in Lincoln County, Carrizozo, Capitan and Ft. Stanton areas. She met her husband Manuel "Manny" Garcia in 1944 in Roswell where he was stationed at the Roswell Army Airfield Base. During his off hours, Manuel played in a local orchestra while Olita would dance the night away doing the jitterbug. They married in 1945 and moved to his home town of Kingsville, Texas where he owned and operated a barbershop. Olita was unable to tolerate the humidity in Kingsville and convinced her husband to move back to New Mexico. Manual attended Highlands University graduating with a Bachelors and Master's Degree in Education and History. After which they moved to Wagon Mound, NM were they lived for six years where Manuel taught at the local High School. During the summer months, Olita attended Cosmetology School in Albuquerque. After completing school, she opened her own Beauty Salon in Wagon Mound. Olita, Manuel and family moved to Albuquerque in 1958. Manuel began teaching at Valley High School and Olita again opened her own Beauty Salon, La Mesa Beauty Shop which she owned and operated until Manuel's passing in 1985. Known for her strong work ethic and independence, Olita continued to work well into her senior years working at the Montebello Retirement Home beauty shop, Furr's Cafeteria, Melba's Dress Store and doing product demos at local grocery stores. She enjoyed spending hours each day visiting with friends and family both in person and by phone. Special people during her life included her neighbor Roger, Charmaine, Pat, Marc, Patrice, Bobbi and Joe, Joey, Gary, Lita, Clara, Betty and Dave, Margaret, Lois, Dorothy, Elvina P. and Elvina G., Bella, Jane, Ruth, Millie, Beverly and Lila, Ginger and Mac. Olita is survived by her loving family, Anna Luna, Lucy Garcia, Irene Garcia and Eric Best, Becky and Chris Horne; grandchildren, David Luna, Sarah Horne, Emily Beltramo, Jacob Horne; and great-grandchild, Ciera Luna. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 12, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with a Visitation one hour prior. COX, ROGER SHERREL Passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2013. He went peacefully surrounded by his family. Roger was born February 10, 1931 in Cortez, CO to Hendrix Candler and Elizabeth Lucretia Cox. He married Elizabeth Cannon (Dee Dee) on May 24, 1980 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. He happily served as a High Priest, in a bishopric, as Young Men's leader, and five years in the New Mexico LDS mission presidency. He loved his Tuesday mornings working at the Albuquerque New Mexico temple. Roger and Dee Dee found joy researching his family history by traveling to Tennessee, Missouri and Oklahoma, where ancestors had lived. He was raised on the Navajo reservation where he grew to love the Navajo people. He mastered the language and loved speaking to all the Navajo's he encountered. Roger graduated from Farmington high school where he was named to the Hall of Fame. He attended his beloved University of New Mexico on a football scholarship, and was inducted into the UNM Hall of Honor. He was the most loyal Lobo fan in the state of New Mexico. Roger was not only a classic example of a self-made man, but was also one of the key figures in the evolution of the New Mexico real estate business. Along with the love of work and making a deal, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Dee Dee; six children, Janice (Brian) Anderson, Elizabeth Cox, Anthony (Karen) Cox, Sabrina (Jeremy) Lovejoy, Jacob (Sara) Cox, Anne Marie (Joshua) Hiatt; 16 grandchildren; two great -grandchildren; and sister, Sherrie (Tom) Diediker. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bart Cox and granddaughter Charlotte Miera. Roger founded Roger Cox and Associates Real Estate Brokerage, which has recently celebrated 50 years strong. He has served as President of the Realtor Association of New Mexico and was the very first realtor in New Mexico to attain the prestigious CCIM designation in 1968. He also held the title of Realtor of the year in both Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico. He was past president of RANM, the director of National Association of Realtors, state highway commissioner, past president of the UNM Lobo Club and all conference end for the University of New Mexico. An achievement of which he was very proud was being developer of PAA-KO communities and PAA-KO Ridge golf club. Roger was a guiding light in the real estate industry. He also served his country in the United States Army. There will be a viewing Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the LDS San Victorio Chapel, 11750 San Victorio Ave. NE. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the San Victorio Chapel. Officiating will be Bishop Mike Davis of the East Ridge Ward. CARLETON, MARIE Eralia Marie Carleton, 85 was born on January 16, 1928 and was called home to her Maker on April 5, 2013. She will now be able to spend eternity with her true love, husband R. F. Carleton. Marie's giving nature will be missed as she has spent many years giving to the community through many organizations, such as St. Martin Hospitality Center, Casa los Ninos, Mentor Mentee programs and donating quilts to many deserving people who needed her warmth. BRUNNER, MELANIE ANN Melanie, of Tesuque, NM passed away on Thursday, April 4th, after many years of bravely fighting a neurological illness under the care of her loving husband, J. Terrence Brunner. She was born in Chicago, IL, to Francis and Cecilia Marley. The family moved to Indianapolis, IN where she graduated from St. Agnes's Academy. She went on to graduate from Averett College in Danville, VA and became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. While she was with Delta, she met and married Terry and they celebrated their 47th anniversary together last December. She lived in Winnetka for 30 years with her husband, Jules Terrence Brunner, Executive Director of the Better Government Association. Melanie loved to travel, and in 1986, after years at home being a wonderful mother, started an almost 20 year career as a manager and travel agent with the Travel 100 group in Winnetka, IL. She was active in the Junior League of Chicago as an Art Docent in the Chicago Public Schools. She Enjoyed working with the Brookefield Zoo as a Women's Board member. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis; mother, Cecilia; step-mother, Margaret; and her sister, Cynthia. She is survived by her loving and caring husband, J. Terrence Brunner of Santa Fe, NM; children, Mark, Terry and Brooke; by five wonderful grandchildren: Alex, Caroline, Audrey, Bennett and Marlo. A memorial service will be held at San Isidro Mission Church In Tesuque on May 4, 2013 at 10:00 am. WOOD, DANA C. Passed peacefully from this life on April 5, 2013, at the age of 57. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, to his loving parents, Everett and Edna Wood. He graduated from Gallup High School. He completed B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico. Dana was a businessman, a private pilot, and an avid follower of motorsports. Dana's pointed humor, work ethic and uncomplaining endurance will be missed. Dana is survived by his fiancee, Lisa LaRusch; three siblings, John and Douglas in Albuquerque, and Charlene (Dolly) Delaunay in Arapahoe, WY. TAFOYA, CLARA DOROTHY 1914 - 2013 age 98, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born November 19, 1914 in Kelly, NM. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She loved making arts and crafts. She made a lot of nice crafts and gave them to family and friends. Clara also had a green thumb for planting. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melcor Tafoya; mother, Abigail Nunez; two sisters, Stella Chavez and Helen Chavez; and one brother, Dennis Nunez. Clara is survived by her two sons, Antonio Tafoya and wife, Kathy and Ben Tafoya and wife, Lupe; one daughter, Margie Zamora and husband, Pete; seven grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; one brother, Julian Nunez and wife, Emma; and two sisters, Laura Geier and husband, Carl and Benina Sanchez. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, on Thursday, April 11, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jude Tafoya, Christopher Tafoya, April Tafoya, Monique Rivera, Magdalene Romero, Adrian Zamora and Dominic Zamora. SMITH, ELLIS FRANKLIN Passed away Sunday morning, April 7, 2013. Ellis was born on 27 Oct 1923 to Homer and Gracie in Logan Township, KS and served in the Navy during WWII. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, after almost 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his Sister Mary; two younger brothers John and Curtis; sons Miles and Mark; daughter Frances; along with seven grandchildren and seven (five and two on the way); and great- grandchildren. Services will be on Sunday at 2:00pm at Reflections Funerals and Life Celebrations at 2400 Washington St. NE in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ambercare at 420 North Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
