Otis Lee Cox was born April 18, 1929 in Grimes, Oklahoma the son of Thomas Carter and Thelma Leona (Brewer) Cox. He passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the South Park East Nursing Home in Oklahoma City from a broken heart exactly one week to the day after losing his wife of more than 56 years, Mrs. Agnes Belle Cox, on Valentine's Day. Otis and Agnes spent the last five years of their life together battling Alzheimer's disease after they were diagnosed within one week of each other. Though it's difficult to lose our parents within one week of each other, it's only appropriate that they ended their earthly journey together be reunited at Heaven's Gate and begin their eternal walk with the Lord together. Otis attended public schools in Berlin, Oklahoma, graduating from Berlin High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army for a brief time before being honorably discharged. While living in Albuquerque, Otis served on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Albuquerque. After their retirement, Otis and Agnes moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 1994, where they both were charter members of the Bridgeview United Methodist Church, with Otis serving as the church treasurer for many years. They both enjoyed traveling the United States of America, also visiting Australia and New Zealand. Otis thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's ball games and all of their sporting activities. He simply enjoyed being at home with Agnes and having the free time to spend with his family.
