COX, SHEILA J. Age 63, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013. She is survived by her husband, David Cox; her stepchildren, Melissa Cox, Christopher Cox (Misty); grandchildren, Elijah, Braydon, and Reece; sister, Loretta Lopez; brothers, Larry Lopez (Colleen) and Dennis Lopez (Anna); numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe A. Lopez and Amelia Lopez; and one sister, Sharon Martinez. Sheila was a very loving person and had an affinity for helping out others. She touched many lives in her career as a Social Worker and Educational Diagnostician and will be greatly missed by many very special friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, December 12, 2013, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming with a viewing beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 13, 2013, 8:30 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. CHAVEZ, ANDREW &Quot;ANDY&Quot; J. Age 64, left this life on Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was born in Gallup, NM on June 23, 1949, to Abran and Rosina Chavez. Andy will be remembered for his tremendous love for God and the people in his life. He was extremely generous with all and had a great sense of humor. Uppermost, he had a deep faith and love for the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. He always said, "Never be ashamed of the Gospel; people need to hear that Jesus is the only way back to God." His family of origin resides in Albuquerque and Gallup, NM. Andy was the oldest of five sons. Two brothers preceded him in death, Alfonso and Manuel. Andy is survived by his brothers, Robert, and wife Lenore, Abran Jr., "Abe," and wife Lizzie; sister-in-law, Elisa. He was the very best of brothers and taught the family to stay connected, to love each other and be generous to one another. Andy was a remarkable son to his parents who cared and provided for them in every way possible all through his life. Andy had 19 nephews and nieces, Steve (JoAnna), Eric (Lupita), Fredy (Monica), Dallana (Michael), Analisa, Markos (Charity), Tana, Alyssa (Chris), Dianna, Marta (John), Celina and Celia; and 17 grand-nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2951 Honor Guard. BERGET, DOROTHY MAE Dorothy Mae Berget, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the age of 91. Dorothy was born in Chicago, IL and was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her daughter, Jeanne; her son, Ronald; and her granddaughter, Kirsten. Dorothy is survived by seven children; 14 grandchildren; and ten great- grandchildren. Dorothy served in the in the Women's Army Corp during World War II, and worked for Montgomery Ward in Winrock from its opening in 1961 until she retired in 1985. Dorothy was a member of the American Business Women Association and for 25 years volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital earning over 21,000 hours of service assisting in the gift shop and most notably, knitting handmade baby caps for newborns. She will be missed dearly by the many who loved her. Memorial Services for Dorothy will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Road NE, Albuquerque with Pastor Don Wilson officiating. TUTTLE, LARRY D. Age 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2013. He was born on March 14, 1928 to Laurence and Helen Tuttle in Decatur, Ill. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1946. He immediately enlisted in the Air Force & was stationed at Kirtland Air Force base in Albuq., NM. He married Mary Jane Hunt in 1948. He attended UNM 1949-1952. He received a Bachelor's degree in education in 1953 and received a Master's degree in 1958. He was an acclaimed athlete in basketball and baseball while attending UNM. He also played professional baseball for a short time in 1953 for the Philadelphia Philly organization. In 1954, he started teaching and coaching for APS. In 1958 he became the first head basketball coach at Rio Grande High School. He resigned from APS in 1970 to enter the insurance industry and continued that career until the late 1990's. He loved to hunt and fish. The family was blessed to enjoy 32 years at Elephant Butte Lake where they entertained many guests, boating, fishing and water skiing. He was past president and 15 year member of Bosque Hunt Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane of 65 years; daughter Cheryl House, son Larry and his wife Nora and son, Steve, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at BCA Church, 320 Waterfall Dr SE with Pastor Marshall Townsley officiating. OTERO, BENNY age 73, a resident of Albuquerque, born, September 8, 1940 was called to be with our Lord on December 10, 2013. Mr. Otero is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Paul Otero and wife, Dora, Chris Otero and wife, Josette, Andrea Cordova and husband, George, Luiz Otero and wife, Alicia, Robert Otero, Michael Otero; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; four sisters, Annie, Esther, Susan and Pauline; brothers, David and Louie. Mr. Otero was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Perez; and grandson Dominic Otero. Benny was a member of the Catholic Church and was retired from the City of Albuquerque in 2002, Aviation Department. Benny loved spending time with his family, watching sports and dancing. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Don Roseborough. JOHNSON, EARLE E. Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He is survived by son, Larry Johnson; his daughter, Deanna Gear; grandchildren, Brady Gear and wife Anna, and Lindsay Gear; one cousin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Delphine Johnson; and sister, Lois Walmsley. Earle grew up in Falun, KS, was a WWII veteran and worked for International Harvester for 35 years in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing with his family. Earle was musically and artistically talented, especially in landscape painting, building projects for his grandchildren and playing piano. He was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church and sang with the choir for many years. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013, 3:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. HURST, RAYMOND JOSEPH Feb. 28, 1923 - Dec. 4, 2013 Ray Hurst had a smile, a story and wisdom from the Bible to share with everyone he met. An accomplished pianist, Ray played professionally and also piloted a B-17 for the Army Air Corp in the 1940s, missing his first combat assignment to England by just a week when Germany surrendered. But Ray's primary concern in life was preaching from God's Word. He became a full-time minister in the late 1950s with his wife, Mary Ann. In 1969, Ray began serving as a Circuit Overseer for Jehovah's Witnesses in North Dakota, followed by similar assignments in several states throughout the country, including New Mexico. The couple retired from the traveling work in Albuquerque, settling into the Sierra Vista Congregation. Ray was preceded in death by his son David James, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, their grandson Eric and great-grandson Seth. A memorial service is set for 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6509 Signal Ave. NE.

DODGE, HOMER CODY JR. Homer Cody Dodge, Jr. passed onto the arms of God on December 9, 2013. Born on January 20, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM, Homer was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. His parents, Homer, Sr. and Mary Montoya and his younger brother, Patrick, have preceded Homer's departure from this world. Homer is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat) Tomhave-Dodge and his children and their spouse(s) - Marina and Jason Vigil, Barry, Alex and Denise, Christopher and Kurina, Garrett and Jerry and Jodi Tomhave. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren: Isaiah and Mia Vigil; Victoria, Valarie, Cherry, Sebastian, Aeneas and Alaina Dodge and Madden Tomhave. Homer is also survived by his brother Harrison Jim and wife Irene. Homer had many "adopted" sons and daughters - far too many to list - about whom he cared deeply. Homer also loved the many pet dogs who shared time with him. Some of their names are Molly, Dodger, Wylie, Nike, Lucky, Dillinger and Bear. Homer graduated from Manzano High School in 1965 and entered the United States Army in 1968. He served in Viet Nam until 1969. Upon returning to Albuquerque, Homer earned his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Albuquerque. He worked as an instructor at SIPI as a Graphics Instructor, was a partner in the Taylor-Dodge Graphics, a printing company, and was the driving force behind Albuquerque Hardwood Floors and working with Homer, Sr., and his sons for over 35 years. Homer loved sports and participated in bowling leagues and tournaments as well as participation in city baseball and senior softball leagues. In addition, he was an avid fisher, hunter, Bronco football and Lobo fan. As a sports fan Homer would attend his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Homer was a member of the VFW Post 401 and Legion Post 13. He served as a member of the House Committee at the VFW and volunteered whenever he could at both Posts. There will be a memorial and celebration of Homer's life on Friday, December 13, 2013 at VFW Post 401, starting at about 3:00 pm. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe in the spring of 2014. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Dodge, Alex Dodge, Christopher Dodge, Garrett Bradley, Jason Vigil, Harrison Jim, Isaiah Vigil, Jerry Tomhave, Abby Van Pelt, Nathan Taylor, Joe Rodriguez, Ernie Salazar, and Hank Cordova.
