TUTTLE, LARRY D. Age 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2013. He was born on March 14, 1928 to Laurence and Helen Tuttle in Decatur, Ill. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1946. He immediately enlisted in the Air Force & was stationed at Kirtland Air Force base in Albuq., NM. He married Mary Jane Hunt in 1948. He attended UNM 1949-1952. He received a Bachelor's degree in education in 1953 and received a Master's degree in 1958. He was an acclaimed athlete in basketball and baseball while attending UNM. He also played professional baseball for a short time in 1953 for the Philadelphia Philly organization. In 1954, he started teaching and coaching for APS. In 1958 he became the first head basketball coach at Rio Grande High School. He resigned from APS in 1970 to enter the insurance industry and continued that career until the late 1990's. He loved to hunt and fish. The family was blessed to enjoy 32 years at Elephant Butte Lake where they entertained many guests, boating, fishing and water skiing. He was past president and 15 year member of Bosque Hunt Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane of 65 years; daughter Cheryl House, son Larry and his wife Nora and son, Steve, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at BCA Church, 320 Waterfall Dr SE with Pastor Marshall Townsley officiating.
