She met her first husband Michael there, owner of Hakanson Construction Co. They married and before the birth of their first child, she quit to become a stay at home mom. She was an active member of The Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, Allen, retired College Professor; her children and their spouses: Navy Chaplain Commander John Michael Hakanson and wife Janine, a teacher holding a master's degree in education; Eric Anthony Hakanson, owner of Hakanson Construction Enterprises and his wife Aileen, an Endodontist; Shirley Noelle Thomas BA in business with an emphasis in Marketing and husband Terrill, BFA with emphasis in illustration.
