MANN, LISA of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 after a brave fight with cancer. Born in New York, New York, on August 16, 1951 to Claire Brook and Seymour Mann, Lisa was an excellent student, an inspiring lawyer, an avid New York Giants football fan and a caring, dedicated mother. Lisa grew up in New York City and Paris France. As a child she became fluent in French and was an accomplished oboist. Lisa loved history and in 1972 received a BA in History from Clark University. At Yale, she studied Medieval History in a PhD program. While Lisa retained a lifelong interest in history, she found an equal passion fro the law. In 1985, she graduated first in her class from the UNM School of law. After clerking in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, Lisa began her career as a litigator at Modrall Sperling where she mentored many lawyers and developed lasting relationships with many clients. Lisa was a zealous advocate, yet impressed many with her cordial yet unrelenting style. Benchmark Litigation named Lisa as on of the Top 250 Women in Litigation in the United States and selected her as a "Litigation Star" in New Mexico in 2012 and 2013. She has also been continuously recognized by Best Lawyers in America in Insurance Law and Southwest Super Lawyers since 2007. Lisa was a skilled writer. In 2006, she took a sabbatical from work to live in one of her favorite cities, Paris, to write a book about her great-aunt Mollie, an anarchist who played a key role in the development of free speech case law in the United States. More than anything, Lisa valued her role as a mother. Despite working long hours, Lisa never missed her children's activities or functions. Her ability to coordinate motherhood with a successful career inspired all who knew her. Predeceased by her father, her mother, her stepfather and her brother, Jonathan; Lisa is survived by her children, Joshua Adam Burke and his wife Emily Baum, Baltimore Maryland, Zachary David Burke, Albuquerque, and Sonya Rose Burke, Albuquerque; as well as many other family members and friends who loved her and will miss her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Lisa's name to the charity of one's choice. A celebration of Lisa's life will occur Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Casa Esencia
