DUNPHY, CHARLES H. JR. (1940 - 2013) passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd in Yokohama, Japan. Chuck wore many hats, loving husband, devoted brother and uncle, brilliant scholar, wise teacher, euridite traveler, and to everyone he met, kind friend. Chuck was born in Washington, DC, raised in Albuquerque, attended Norte Dame and Berkeley graduating with an degree in Philosophy. He traveled the world and was fluent in many languages. He is survived by his wife, lifetime partner and best friend, Reiko Sakai of Yokohama; brothers John Dunphy of Albuquerque, Edward Dunphy of Los Gatos; and sister Ann Becker of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Dunphy and Virginia Cooney Dunphy of Albuquerque; brother Richard Dunphy of Albuquerque; grandparents Dr. Henry Dunphy and wife Helena Santos Dunphy of Massachusetts; Governor Frank Cooney and May Poinexter Cooney of Montana. He settled in Japan after marrying the love of his life, Reiko. In Yokohama, they spent many wonderful years together. Chuck is remembered with deep and enduring love and affection by all who knew him. Chuck was cremated and a traditional Japanese period of mourning is being observed.
