MCDONALD, CYNTHIA HUBBELL Cynthia Hubbell Rich-McDonald, 79, beloved wife and mother went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 11, 2014 in Williamsburg, CO. She was born in Santa Fe, NM on August 12, 1934 to Andrew Martin and Margaret H. (Hubbell) Rich. Cynthia graduated from St. Vincent Academy in Albuquerque, NM and attended the Brownmoor School for Girls in Phoenix, AZ. A descendant of one of New Mexico's premier pioneer families, the Hubbells were well established in politics, various businesses and sheep ranching. Her maternal grandfather was the owner/operator of the half million-acre Hubbell ranch in Southwestern New Mexico, the largest sheep ranch in the United States. Cynthia's grand uncle, J. Lorenzo Hubbell established and owned 17 Indian Trading Posts in AZ and NM on the Navajo/Hopi reservations, one of which is the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado, AZ, declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. Her great grandmother, Julianita Guiterrez y Hubbell was the granddaughter of the Honorable Don Francisco Xavier Chavez, the first governor of the territory of Santa Fe de Nuevo Mexico after Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1822. Cynthia was united in marriage to Max I. McDonald, and they were happily married for 56 years. On October 17, 1975, Cynthia accepted Christ as her Savior, faithfully serving Him as Sunday School Superintendent, Christian schoolteacher, and homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Canon City, CO. Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband, Max; children, James Philip (Andrea) McDonald, John Kevin (Jeanette) McDonald, and David Karl (Carol Jean) McDonald; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anita Lynch; and brother, Andrew Rich. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will take place 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
