BRANSCOMBE, LOIS ADINA (CUMMINGS) Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 17, 2014, after a long battle with dementia. During her illness, Lois demonstrated great courage and gave strength to those who loved and cared for her. She maintained her beauty, outgoing personality and strength until her last days and she was an inspiration to her family throughout her entire life. Lois was born on February 17, 1938 in Superior, Wisconsin to Bernice and Cyril Cummings. She is survived by her husband DuWayne Branscombe of 55 years; daughters, Krista Gusler of Traverse City, Michigan, Lisa Platzbecker of Albuquerque, Adina Maes of Albuquerque; her sons-in-law Scott Gusler, Mark Platzbecker and Sam Maes; her seven grandchildren Lauren, Alex, Brian, Stephanie, Gabby, Amanda and Emily. She was preceded in death by her one sister Sharon McCarthy of Lawton, Oklahoma. Lois and DuWayne moved from Superior, Wisconsin to Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 6, 1960. They bought their home on March 17, 1963 and Lois devoted over 50 years to making their home a warm and wonderful place to be proud of. Lois was a role model mother. She devoted all her energy and skills in raising her three daughters. She was a beautiful, intelligent, caring and strong-willed woman who loved her family deeply. She had a grace and style about her that charmed everyone who met her. She loved to decorate, keep her home immaculately clean, read, and create family traditions such as calling on birthdays and hosting yearly holidays at her home. She enjoyed going on RV rallies to wonderful destinations, hosting family and friends' parties at her home, and playing crossword puzzles, solitaire, and poker. She loved music and dancing and telling jokes and stories. Lois wrote poems for her family, mastered oil painting, watched Lawrence Welk faithfully on Saturday nights and volunteered at her church. Lois loved and cherished her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the Christian strength and encouragement for her family and made sure all her family were devoted Christians. To say the least, she has left a large legacy footprint on this earth. She will be welcomed with open arms to her heavenly home. She was truly a remarkable woman who will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends. A church memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00am at Christ Lutheran Church, 7701 Candelaria Rd. NE. A lunch reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
