WACONDA, WALTER, K. Age 85, originally from Laguna Pueblo, went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Waconda; son, Alan Waconda, both of Albuquerque; sister, Ida Kiro of Gallup; and special nieces, Patricia Abeita and her daughters Amy Jiron, Catherine Abeita and Maureen Abeita, Karen Waconda-Lewis and her daughter, Camille Waconda who helped care for him; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Waconda served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Walter worked as a Personnel Management Specialist for the Indian Health Service. He and Thelma were members at First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque. His life will be celebrated on Monday, April 7 at 9:00 am at First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque, 6400 Golf Course Road NW with Pastor Adam Hughes, officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. Pallbearers will be John Waconda, Jr., Lawrence Waconda, David Ramirez, David Baldridge, Royce Waconda, and Michael Trujillo MD.
