COX, WILLIAM JAMES &Quot;JIM&Quot; went to be with the Lord March 21, 2013. He was born in San Antonio, TX on January 14, 1935 to Jonathan Saunders Cox and Marjorie Lee Saunders. Had one sister, Joan Chrismer, deceased. Jim was a man of many accomplishments, had a true zest for life and loved challenges. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a degree in Business. At SMU he was an extemporaneous speaker on the debate team, a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity and a cheerleader for the University. Jim served as a Captain in the US Air Force at Kirkland when he moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1958. Then served as a Major in the reserves from 1957-1979. During that time he built two apartment complexes in southeast Albuquerque--Park Terrace and La Vista. Jim was very active in the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches throughout his life, was a lay preacher in the 1960's while he served as chairman of the board on the finance committee. While working in the insurance business, he was a board member for the YMCA and worked in fundraising; raising more than anyone had done before! He served as president of Albuquerque Rotary Club during 1985-1986 and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship award two times during his many years of service with the Rotary. In the 1964 Jim developed El Cid Greenhouses in Tome, NM and cultivated 25 acres of farm fields, which later became El Cid Park Residential Area. Afterwards, he moved to Australia for 15 yrs. serving as a capital fundraiser for charities. Upon returning to his home in Rio Rancho, he became a certified real estate broker at the age of 75! Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Cox; his five children: Joan Cox Ntiforo, Jonathan Cox, Karen Lieurance, Karner Cox, James Cox; and his ten grandchildren.
