BALLARD, MARCELLE T. 1927-2013 On March 17, 2013, Marcelle T. Ballard, surrounded by family and friends, departed this life peacefully to be with our Lord. Her loving husband Alphonse; parents, Octave and Alice (nee Laliberte) De Moras; three sisters: Rose Aimee, Agnes and Clotilde, preceded her in death. Marcie, age 86, is survived by her children: Suzanne and Don Gann (Alaska); Michael and Twinkle Ballard (Texas); Kathy and Doug Wildfong (Colorado); Gail Carter, and Lise Brooks both of Albuquerque; as well as ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grand children. Also living, are her sisters, Marguerite Moras and Gabrielle De Moras; her brothers John and Henri De Moras; along with many loving nieces and nephews. Marcie, born in 1927, graduated from nursing college in the mid 1940's. She then, pursued a career as a registered nurse in her home state of Maine. In 1948, she met her husband of 55 years, Alphonse Ballard. Alphonse had told his mother he was going 'deer' hunting in Maine. During this hunting trip he met Marcie, became engaged, and they were soon married. When Alphonse brought Marcie home to meet the family, his mother teased, "I see your 'hunting trip' was successful. You brought home a beautiful 'dear'!" In the early 1950's, Marcie, decided to put her career on hold to raise her five children. As the wife of a career military service member, she enjoyed traveling extensively across the country and overseas to Japan. Upon her husband's retirement in the early 1960's, the family moved to Albuquerque. Marcie resumed her nursing career working in many hospitals in the metropolitan area. She retired from nursing in 1987 and devoted the rest of her life in service to her community and church. She was an active member at St. Jude Thaddeus and St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Churches. She served as a Sacristan, as well as with the Bereavement Committee, the Legion of Mary, Praying Mothers Hope Intercession Prayer Group, and Faith Sharing Group. As a Deacon's wife, she assisted her husband in his lifetime with duties in the Parish and Diocese. She was always ready to help in any way she could and ever prayed for the needs of others. Marcie enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery and organic gardening. She will be truly missed. A Rosary will be held June 13, 2013 at 7:00 pm and a memorial Mass will take place the following day June 14, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Paradise Hills. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations in her name to a charity of your choice. To view information or leave a condolence please visit
