MACLEOD, RUTH Ruth M. MacLeod, age 80, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2014. Ruth was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from nursing school there. Early in her life she moved to Tucson, Arizona to be a nurse at the Veterans hospital. It was at the VA she met the love of her life, Richard (Mac) MacLeod. In the all too brief time they had together before his passing, her world was truly wonderful. She is remembered as an extremely giving person who shared her joy of art throughout her life. She was also an avid traveler who had enjoyed many trips to Europe. A favorite activity in retirement was volunteering at Los Artes Youth Art Program in Tucson. Later in her life she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be close to her family there. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Mac" MacLeod, her sisters Dorothy (Ben) Pfister, Marjorie Marks, Jane Marks and brother Gordon (Bea) Marks. She is survived by her step-daughters Robin (Bruce) Jones, Rhonda MacLeod; sister Marilyn (Homer) Groves; and godson Jeff (Sharon) Pfister. At an undetermined date her remains will be scattered like her late husband's over the Catalina Mountains in Tucson. Her final wishes were to encourage those who knew her to share their moments of her life with others. May she live in our hearts forever.

LENZ, BARBARA T. In 1962, the Lord sent us an angel and now He has taken her home. Barbara was born August 17, 1962 at the Air Force Academy. She was joy, happiness, and love; and spread those to all her family and those she met. Barbara attended the Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center and learned many skills. She was a member of a band at the Center which was chosen for national Special Arts Festival to perform in Washington D.C. They met Debby Boone and she spent some time with them. Barbara attended Wasson High School in Colorado Springs. She was accomplished in needlepoint and many of us were blessed to enjoy her work. Barbara loved calendars and at the start of a new year it was her job to get her calendar and mark the upcoming birthdays for all of the family members. She loved that she was a sister and daughter. Her trips to the Rocky Mountains were special. Her aunt Pat, a Mercy nun, was her special person. Most summers involved a trip to Iowa for a grand birthday celebration with the nuns and many relatives and friends. If we didn't make it to Iowa many would join us in the Colorado Mountains near Keystone and Dillon. She always had a favorite dog; Oso was a real special one. Barbara loved music and she loved to dance. The house would fill with Christmas carols from her CD. Her special song was America the Beautiful and would silence all to listen. Special Olympics was another joy. Barbara learned to run, bowl, swim and other things. Her silver medal for bowling in the State meet, presented by one of the Denver Broncos, was special. The last few years our dear Barbara was lost to the cruel world of Alzheimer's. She left us on February 27, 2014 to join her father, Raymond Lenz and her sister, Margaret Bovie. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nora and Edward Lenz; and her maternal grandparents, Margaret and Timothy Sullivan. Barbara leaves behind her mother, Catharine Lenz; sisters, Susan Alarid and Virginia Lenz; brother, Michael Lenz and wife, Danella; brother-in-law, David Bovie; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; her dear aunt Patricia Sullivan; and many relatives and friends. We want you to know if The Lord blesses you with one of these who will be one of the "Little Children Forever", give them a chance to show you what true love and joy can be found. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, 10:00 am, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. DURAN, SUSAN GAYLE 1954 - 2014 Susan Gayle Duran, age 60, a resident of Belen, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family and her beloved dogs, on Sunday, February 23rd. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and with her many horses. She was a mother, sister, and friend to many. Sue was always one for practical jokes. She took great enjoyment in making people laugh and/or in giving them a good scare. Sue loved the mountains, hiking and spending time with those whom she loved and cared. Sue was also a very hard worker; there was not a job that she would refuse to tackle. All of these attributes will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Unfortunately, for the past year, she had been fighting a brave battle with cancer which she ultimately lost. However, no matter her pain or discomfort, she still got up nearly every day and tended to her daily activities and cared for her beloved dogs. The only solace that can be taken now is that she is free of pain and it is hoped that she will now be able to once again go for those long hikes in the mountains, and bask in the sunlight. Sue's family would like to give a special thank you to Beth Sambrano and the Ambercare Hospice Team for their wonderful care and compassion for Sue in her last weeks. A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Sue's family and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Albuquerque Humane Society, or any other animal or horse rescue, in Sue's name. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448, where an online guest register is available at www.noblinfuneralservice.com

CAIRD, BRUCE Age 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Born in Geneva Ohio, Bruce came to reside in Albuquerque in 1935 at the age of five. Affectionately called "Mr. Albuquerque" by a client, Bruce was well known for his real estate career that spanned more than five decades. He knew the business from the ground up, working first in the construction industry as a young engineering student. Bruce quickly became a construction manager for Dale Bellamah who developed the NE heights Princess Jeanne Subdivision in the 1950's. Before opening his own real estate company with partner Ed Norris in 1963, he built homes in Santa Fe with builder Ralph Brutsche, a life long friend. A licensed Realtor since 1957, Bruce held the #9 realtor license issued in New Mexico. He had a passion for real estate and was recognized by clients and peers for his professionalism, humor, and keen mind. He offered "solutions for people in real estate" and specialized in many arenas from residential sales in the north valley to commercial brokerage and development projects in Albuquerque, Corrales, and Placitas. One of his most creative accomplishments was to sell the volcanoes on Albuquerque's Westside Bond Ranch to the City of Albuquerque. He also served the city he loved as a founding member of Concerned Citizens, a watchdog group that critiqued city government. His provocative editorials often appeared in the Albuquerque Tribune. Bruce was a board member of TVI, now CNM, and a longtime member of the National Federation of Small Businessmen. Devoted as he was to public life, Bruce's family was his lasting pride and joy. He was married to Mary Landwehr of Jefferson City, MO, for over sixty years. He was the beloved patriarch of the Caird clan including five children: Ian Caird (Roxanna), Kim Caird-Espinosa (Peter), Caitlin Robinson (Patrick), Andrew Caird, and Sarah Caird; as well as nine grandchildren: (Ethan Aronson, Aaron, and Maya Espinosa, Kurtis, Kyle, and Kelly Robinson, Thane, Rachel, and Alexander Caird); and two great-grandchildren: (Finnegan and Harper Robinson.) Bruce modeled the values of the "great generation" such as hard work, integrity, a love of excellence, and a zest for life. A voracious reader and lover of history, his personal hero was Abraham Lincoln. Bruce loved sailing and traveling with Mary from San Carlos, Mexico and the lakes of northern New Mexico to Vancouver Island and the San Juan Islands of Canada. Bruce lived life to the full and embodied a warrior spirit. After a prolonged battle with heart disease, he died February 25, 2014 at his home of congestive heart failure.
