SANCHEZ, LEROY Leroy Sanchez, born and raised in Grants, NM passed away on February 27, 2014 at his home in Anton Chico, NM of a long term illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Eduardo Sanchez, brothers Johnny, Mark and Patrick; and sister Shirley. He leaves behind his mother, Melba Sanchez; his wife Antoinette Maestas-Sanchez; son Leroy Sanchez, Jr. and wife Mishelle of Anton Chico; daughter Antoinette Sanchez of Grants; step-children Shanika Lucero and husband Kevin and Mario Maestas, all of Anton Chico; father in-law John Maestas of Anton Chico and mother in-law Margaret and husband Jose Fernandez of Pueblo, Colorado; brothers: Rudy (Dorothy) of Anton Chico, Victor (Mary) of Los Lunas, Jerry of Grants, Randy (Miney) of Albuquerque, Chris (Aileen) of Grants, Joseph (Theresa) of Grants; sisters: Rhonda (Abel) Gutierrez of Los Lunas, Sandra (Curtis) Marez from Taylor Ranch, Darlene (Gilbert) Garduno of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Matthew Sanchez, Dominique Sanchez, Anthony Sanchez, Ethan Taylor, Evan Taylor, and Ava Rose Lucero. Leroy was a very caring man with a great sense of humor who was always joking around. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. Leroy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May his soul be at peace. Funeral services for Leroy will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Rosary will begin at 10:00am, followed by the celebration of the funeral Mass by Father Mondragon at 11:00am. Interment will follow the Mass at the San Jose Cemetery in Anton Chico. MORRIN, GARY LEE Born January 6, 1989, died on February 15, 2014, unexpectedly at the very young age of 25 years old. He leaves behind his mother Jodie Geddes and his father Ronald Morrin. He loved sports, riding his motorcycle and a good challenge. He had a great sense of humor and he would give you the shirt off his back. He served in the Army Reserves for four years and had plans to go back to school. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. We love you Gary! MADER, ROBERT C. Age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Bertha Mader, and eldest son, David Dale. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joy; his children, LauraLee and husband Scott Grady, Kim Mader, Martin Mader, Andy Mader and wife Stacey, Charles Mader; 14 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Bobby graduated from St. Mary's High School in Albuquerque. He was a proud Navy veteran and a retired APD officer. LUNSFORD, YOLANDA M. Our beloved Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister and Grandmother Yolanda Marie Lunsford went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the young age of 53. Yolanda was born on January 2, 1961 to Eloy and Amelia Torrez in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her father Eloy M. Torrez and grandmother Elisa Garcia. Yolanda was a life-long resident of Albuquerque. She was a graduate of Rio Grande High School and a member of New Beginnings Church of God. She was employed at the Albuquerque Journal for 35 years. She loved traveling; spending time with her family and most of all the light of her life, husband James Lunsford and grand-daughter Sophia Sandoval. She loved entertaining, and traveling and just recently returned from a great vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her husband and travel partners Clifford and Shirley Pacheco of Brighten, Colorado. She is survived by her mother Amelia Torrez, her husband of 25 years James W. Lunsford, her children Andre Sandoval (Evanne) of Albuquerque, Serena Lunsford of Rosamond, California, and Eric Lunsford of Denver, Colorado, Siblings Priscilla Smith (Larry), David Torrez (Kathy), Michael Torrez (Rosanna) of Albuquerque, Mary Louise Bermudez (Jim) of Farmington, and Kathleen Bloom (Steven) of Guam, eight nieces, eight nephews, eight grand-nieces, four grand-nephews, four grandchildren and her favorite puppies Lola, Meiko and Sadie. LUJAN, BARBARA &Quot;BOBBIE&Quot; Age 83, joined her beloved husband, T.J. on March 1, 2014, two weeks following his return to heaven. A lifelong New Mexico resident, Barbara lived most of her life in Santa Fe and the last ten years in Albuquerque. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Placido Urban; daughter, Geralynn; and grandson, Corey. Barbara was a devoted, loving wife and mother who cherished her family. She is survived by her daughter, Felice Cesarz (Roger); and son, Gene Lujan (Sylvia); grandchildren, Victoria Kaus (Dave), Tiffany Driggers, Scott Cesarz and Marcos Lujan; great-granddaughters, Geralynn, LeAnn and Alexandra Kaus. KING, GARY ANDREW 1956 - 2014 Gary Andrew King, age 57, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in a work-related accident. He was born and grew up in the East Mountain area. He lettered in track and wrestling, and graduated from Manzano High school in 1974. He was in the construction field from 1974 to the present as a Superintendant and General Supervisor. He held many certifications including Automotive Mechanic, Hazardous Materials Safety, Department of Homeland Security Federal Disaster Worker, and Safe Excavator. He was an active member of the community, and was a regular donor to United Blood Services. His hobbies included restoring his Model A Ford, participating in the Poco Quatros Model A club, and hot air ballooning. He was on the NRA Millennium Honor Roll, was a lifetime member in the NRA, a member of the New Mexico Gun Collectors Association, and of the Bass Fishing Club. He was an avid Lobos and Isotopes fan. He was a much-loved uncle, brother, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Susanna King; and sister-in-law, Dinah. Gary is survived by his brothers, Steve King and wife, Susan, Jeff King and wife, Sara; sister, Betsy Brubaker and husband, Steve; niece, Rose King; and nephew, William Brubaker. HOGG, JANNA R. &Quot;PENNY&Quot; Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque for over 70 years, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She is survived by her two children, Cheryl Groebner & husband, Jerry of Albuquerque, and Tom Hogg of West Hollywood, CA; three grandchildren, Lisa Mayhill and husband, Ron, Paige Lewis and husband, Jay, and Carrie Staller and husband, Kurt; five great- grandchildren, Avery, Alivia, and Savanna Lewis and Casey and Mackenzie Staller; and numerous friends. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Jennie McBride; and one sister, Leona R. McBride. She was born in 1922 in Lincoln, NE and graduated from high school before attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Penny was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She moved to Albuquerque and worked for Continental Airlines before her marriage to Thomas S. Hogg. After raising her children, Penny worked as a Leasing Agent at Three Fountains Apartments in Albuquerque. She was an avid member of Duke City Bridge Club and the Junior League of Albuquerque. Penny was a very social person, loving to travel with her friends. She loved animals, especially her cats. Penny was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. BRANNEN, PAT LINDVEIT Pat Lindveit Brannen, age 85. A devoted mother and longtime resident of Albuquerque, she died peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 3, 2014. She is survived by her children, son James Patrick Brannen of Albuquerque, son Carl Andrew Brannen of Pullman, Washington, and daughter Anne Lindveit Brannen and wife Laura Riseborough Callanan of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Courtney Anne Brannen and Joseph Patrick Brannen of Albuquerque and Andrew James Tindall of Pittsburgh; and former husband and oldest friend Joseph Patrick Brannen. Born on Long Island, New York, she grew up in the Dow Company town of Lake Jackson, on the Texas gulf. She was retired from a civilian research position with the United States military. An avid mycologist, she was former president of the New Mexico Mycological Association. BECK, SARA A. Sara A. Beck, 87, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away in her home on Monday, March 3, 2014. She is survived by daughter, Yolanda Aragon; son-in-law, Baron Aragon; one grandson, Gabriel Aragon; sisters Iris Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, Phoebe Aulenbacher of Houston, Texas; and many other relatives, nieces, and nephews. BALTZ, KEITH ROLAND (W5WBA) June 22, 1924 - March 4, 2014 Born in Castalia, Iowa, to Ernst John and Anna (Schellhammer) Baltz, Keith spent his early years in the small town farming community. He graduated from Castalia High School and moved with his parents to California when World War II broke out. He was drafted into the US Army in 1943, he served in the CBI theatre at Dibrugarh, India, from 1944 to 1946. Returning to California, he helped his father build the family home, then began his college studies on the GI Bill. He transferred to the University of New Mexico in 1949 and received his degree in Industrial Arts Education in 1952. He met his wife, Barbara (Owens) at the First United Methodist Church Wesley Club in 1950, and they were married in 1951. Keith's first job was with the Santa Fe Railway where he worked on the last steam engine before the railroad switched to diesel engines and downsized the workforce. Utilizing his background in Amateur Radio and electronics, he secured a job with Sandia Corporation where he was assigned to the Field Test Division and participated in Joint Task Force 8 and the live atmospheric nuclear tests. In 1971 he left Sandia and he and Barbara built and managed several rental houses. He joined BDM Corporation in 1974 and remained with the firm until retirement. Actively involved in politics in the 60s and 70s, Keith ran for the State Legislature in 1972 and was twice a delegate to the Republican National Conventions. He and Barbara were election officials for over 50 years. During these years, Keith was building their adobe home which was one of the first on the West Mesa. He was active in the CBI Veterans group and served as their first Commander. He is a member of the American Radio Relay League, Upper Rio FM Society, life member of the National Rifle Association, and the Two Som class at their church. Keith enjoyed backpacking, camping, and volunteering communication services for charity races and bike rides. A loving husband, playful father, and affectionate grandfather, Keith's wisdom and strength will be missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst John and Anna (Schellhammer) Baltz, his brother Loyle, and stillborn twins Frederick and Ely Baltz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara; children Ann Baltz Aks (David), David (Roxanne), Dale (Jaffa), Brian (Danielle); grandchildren, Julia Aks, Madeline, Vincent, Joseph, Monica Baltz, Keziah and Rachel Baltz, Samantha and Melanie Baltz; sister-in-law, Nancy Smith; and nieces and nephew Susan Hostetler, Alice Baltz, Carol Ammary, Larry Baltz, and Judy Stillwell, and Keri Sutter (Ross).
