NEWBY-EHLERS, BETTY MARION With great sorrow we announce the passing of our wonderful friend, Betty Marion Newby-Ehlers. Born, Betty Marion Rogers on November 3, 1918 to John and Ester Rogers in Buffalo, New York, Betty went to sleep in the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the grand age of 95. First with the death of her father and then of her mother, Betty was left orphan at the age of 3. She was raised by her grandmother, who she loved dearly. Her grandmother taught her, at an early age, humility and true love for her savior, Jesus Christ. Having grown up a city-girl in Buffalo, in the mid 50's she moved to Illinois with her husband Al and son Roger. Here she developed a love for the country and for God's nature. In 1963, with her husband Al, she moved to the Albuquerque area. After the death of her husband Al she remarried in 1976 to Paul Revere Ehlers. In 1979 she moved to College Town, Maryland to take a position in the Risk Management Division of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. During a time when women received little pay or recognition in the workforce Betty was both a pioneer and inspiration to all. She was one of the first and few women underwriters in the insurance industry and took on a major role in the establishment of the division for God's church. Following the death of Paul in 1983 Betty return to Albuquerque to enjoy a life of retirement Even in retirement Betty was very active in local church, holding many offices and positions. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her two sisters, Evadne Klotzbir; her husbands, Clifford John Williams, Albert Newby, and Paul Revere Ehlers, and her son Roger Clifford Williams/Newby. She leaves behind a grandson, Kevin Charles Newby and wife, Erica; a great-grandson Grayson Newby; and her nephew, Frank Klotzbir and wife, Terry; her loving dog, Gypsy, who would not leave her side in her final illness; and many, many dear friends. Throughout her life Betty was loved dearly by all she came to know with many adopting her as a sister, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Sunday April 13, 2014 at 12 noon at the Albuquerque Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2201 Estancia Rd NW, Albuquerque, followed by a reception at the church. A private interment will take place later that day. LOPEZ, ESTHER M. PATTERSON, JODY L. Esther and daughter Jody celebrate their first year in heaven this month. Our families (Lopez & Patterson) and those who knew Esther and Jody can attest to the example they showed in being ready to meet our Savior. Yet, it is not as easy as Esther asked: "Don't mourn or weep," as she was happy to be on her way to be with God and our Blessed Virgin Mary. Jody too was full of the Holy Spirit, and well prepared to join our Savior. The vision and example of these two beautiful women lives on in our daily lives, they spread so much love and guidance to all of us. Like each of her grandkids said "I know I am grandma's favorite!"
