BAKER, VIRGINIA H. Age 96, passed peacefully from this world on July 5, 2014. She was born September 24, 1917 near Mount Pleasant, IA to Warren and Verna (Westfall) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Jane and Carolyn. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 72 years, Chester B. Baker, with whom she attended high school and married in 1942. She is also survived by her three children, Ed Baker, Barbara Chaney and Tom Baker and their spouses, Beth, John and Laura, and her grandchildren, Julie, Deborah, and Matthew Baker, Kari Edenfield and Josh Chaney, and Nicholas and Allison Baker; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews who loved her and meant so much to her. Ginny was a hard worker as a child, often reminiscing about how she helped her father plow the fields behind a mule. She attended a one-room school house in rural southeastern Iowa and went on to high school and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. After their marriage and some time in Ames, Iowa, she and Chet moved to California where he was stationed during World War II. After the war, they began a long and interesting life together as Chet became involved in academics. They lived for several years in Bozeman, Montana, and then Urbana, Illinois, where they spent 47 years. Chet's work also took them all over the world. No matter where they lived, Ginny made their house a home, warm and welcoming to any guest. She volunteered at church and in the community as well. During her long and loving life, she taught Sunday school, read to the blind in the Champaign County Nursing Home, volunteered at the local hospital and worked with underprivileged children in church day care. She always had time to listen and to comfort any and all who needed help. She developed deep and enduring friendships. Family was the most important thing to Virginia. She was one of those wonderful stay-at-home mothers who was always there for her husband and her children. There was always a place at Ginny's table, whether for a bridge party, dinner or coffee in the afternoon; for a chat or for a marathon up until 3 am with a grandchild. They loved the talks. Ginny loved them. Ginny and Chet moved from Urbana to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2005 to be with their 3 children and grandchildren, who were so grateful to have Ginny nearby for the remaining years. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road, SE, Rio Rancho, NM, 87124. Obituary for YOUNG

YOUNG, BERENICE ELIZABETH November 27, 1939 July 7, 2014 My momma was a good person. Momma had a strong faith, a devout belief in the importance of family, loved her family with all her heart, and was always there for all of us. Momma was a devout Christian that loved the Lord with all her heart and relied on the Lord's strength to carry her through some tough times in her life. Momma's life began when she was born on the family farm to Joseph Carlisle, Sr. and Katie Greer in Welcome, Maryland. My mom was extremely proud of her family and the hard work ethic that was instilled in her and her siblings by her parents. She took a lot of pride in the fact that she was raised on a farm. Momma attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Plata, Maryland. She would always tell me how Grandma Greer would always remind her that the Greer name is respected and to bring honor to the name by the way you live your life. Well Grandma, your daughter did just that. She was an Air Force wife the majority of her life. She excelled at making a home for us whether it was in Germany, Oregon, Thailand, Big Spring, TX and then to Norman, OK. No matter where we lived, David and I knew we had a home. Momma was preceded in death by her mother, Katie Posey Greer; her dad, Joseph Carlisle, Sr.; her sister, Geraldine Greer; her brother, Joseph Carlisle, Jr.; and her son and love of her life, David W. Young. Momma is survived by her son, Mark Young and his wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Sarah Young and her fiance, Michael Craycraft, Michael Young, Jeremy Young, Seth Young, Emily Barnes and her husband, Michael, Rebecca McCoy and her husband, Chris; and her great-grandchildren, Kristin Ann Young-Almaraz, Levi Barnes, Landon Barnes and soon to be born, Loralei Barnes. Momma is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Irwin and Beverly Ryan and her husband, George. Momma thought "the sun rose and set on her sisters." She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who were dear to her heart which she loved to brag on. Momma lived in Norman, OK for 40 years before moving to Albuquerque, NM in June 2004. While in Norman, she had many friends at church that she always spoke very highly of. She loved Pastor Steve and he meant a lot to our family. She will be greatly missed by her best friends, Betty and Robert Sayger and Peggy and Jerry Rhoton. She will also be missed by Linda and Jimmy Frost, who were always there for momma. These folks are listed as friends, but are really our family. Words cannot express the gratitude a child has when he has had the privilege of being raised by a good momma. The assurance and confidence of always knowing you have your mom in your corner cannot be duplicated in any other relationship. Mommas are special and nothing can take their place. I will miss my mom but I know she is in a much better place now. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by FRENCH Lomas. At her request, there will be no services. Momma, may the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face always shine upon you and may His love always keep you. I love you, Mark FRENCH - Lomas 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500
