POORBAUGH, EARLE RAYMOND II July 7, 1926 - December 31, 2013 Earle Raymond Poorbaugh, born in Baltimore, Maryland July 7, 1926, passed away at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on December 31, 2013, surrounded by family. He will be remembered as a caring, loving, and supportive man who enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge, sharing his knowledge of military history and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy Poorbaugh; daughter, Christina Poorbaugh; son, Edward and his wife Michelle and their three sons Austin, Nolan and Evan; son James and his wife Tracey and children Joshua, Abigail, and Nathaniel. He is predeceased by his son Earle R. "Skip" Poorbaugh, father Earle Poorbaugh Sr., and mother Margret Ensor. Services will be held Saturday, January, 4, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at St. Michaels and All Angles Episcopal Church 601 Montano Rd NW. Memorial contributions may be made to Casa San Miguel Food Pantry, an outreach ministry of St. Michaels Episcopal Church.

PETERSON, KATHERINE ROSE Katherine, an Albuquerque resident for over 40 years, passed away on December 22nd after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her sister & brother-in-law, Connie and Hubbard Elmore; her three daughters: Valerie Amos, Michelle Rieger, and Yvonne Beckman; and six grandchildren. ORTIZ, PEGGY ANNETTE age 52, of Tijeras, NM was called home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Peggy was born October 29, 1961 in Albuquerque, NM to Abelino and Merlinda (Garcia) Muller. Peggy was a lifetime resident of the East Mountains and a member of Holy Child Catholic Parish. Peggy married Antonio R. Ortiz, Sr. on December 24, 1977 in Tijeras, NM. Together they raised a son, Antonio and three daughters, Antoinette, Naomi and Natalie. Peggy is survived by her father Abelino Muller and Rita of Albuquerque, NM; her mother Merlinda Muller of Carnuel, NM; husband Antonio Ortiz of Chilili, NM; son Antonio Ortiz Jr. and Annette of Chilili, NM; daughters Antoinette and Solis Herrera of Chilili, NM, Naomi Ortiz and Andrew Jacobs of Las Cruces, NM and Natalie Ortiz and Lindo Flores of Chilili, NM; mother and father-in-law Alfredo and Lena Ortiz of Chilili, NM; brothers Avelino Muller, Frank Muller, and Juan Muller; grandchildren Anita Ortiz, Abelino Ortiz, Marcus Herrera, Mercedes Herrera and Moises Herrera; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. MINTON, SILAS J. JR. Age 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. He was born on August 30, 1942 to Silas and Irene (Quinn) Minton of Phoenix, AZ. He proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He was licensed to operate a vessel up to 100 tons in the open ocean. He will be remembered for his love of traveling, fishing, military history, and race car driving. Mr. Minton is survived by his wife of 13 years, Stacey (Conviser) Minton, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Anna Marie Minton-Jennings of Livermore, CA, grandson, Shane Jennings, and Silas J. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Hardwick; her son, Zach Heinemann; her sister-in-law and friend, Debbie Arenth; and a large loving extended family. Letitia was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Doris; and her brother, George. She was a member of Unity Spiritual Center, where she served as a chaplain and board member for many years. She was happiest when she was helping people. Mentoring troubled youth through Civitan was very important to her. She was employed as a comptroller with Bonded Plumbing and Heating and finally Miller Bonded where she retired after 25 years. GILBERT, RAYMOND ARTHUR, BRIG GEN, USAF (RET) Age 94, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Saturday, December 28, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Constance B. Young, of Albuquerque. He had several tours of duty in Albuquerque, including serving as the first Director and Commander of the Air Force Weapons Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque from 1963 until 1966. General Gilbert was born in Mattoon, Illinois on April 19, 1919. He graduated from high school there in 1936 and attended the University of Cincinnati on a work / study program. He entered military service in May 1941 as an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps, which later became the United States Air Force. He was a command pilot with over 4,000 hours of flying time. During World War II, he was an instructor pilot in the United States; after the war he was assigned to the military government in Europe; there, he flew as part of the Berlin Airlift. In May 1949, the Air Force sent him to Ohio State University where he completed both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in theoretical physics in 1952. Since 1952 and until his retirement in 1970, all of his Air Force assignments were in the field of research and development, including his tours in Albuquerque. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as the Director for all of the Air Force's laboratories. General Gilbert also received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Albuquerque in 1967. After retirement from the Air Force, General Gilbert worked for several organizations concerned with space and energy policy before making Albuquerque his permanent home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his oldest son, Richard K. Gilbert of Washington, D.C., and his youngest son, Thomas A. Gilbert of Bulverde, Texas, and his two children, Andrew and Naomi. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Daphne Orner and her husband David of Albuquerque, and their children, Jonathan Orner and Laurel Christensen and her husband Preston and their daughters, Sawyer and London. General Gilbert was preceded in death by his first wife Frances Keith Gilbert of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and his middle son, Jack A. Gilbert of Studio City, California. Services will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church of Albuquerque, 6901 San Antonio Drive, NE, in Albuquerque. Later that day, a military burial service will be held at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe. COX, WANDA LEOLA PROCTOR Wanda Leola Proctor Cox, age 81, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Monday, December 30th. She was a member of Bosque Farms Church of Christ, and Foxey Ladies Bowling League. Wanda was a very creative person. She loved writing poetry, gardening, canning, sewing and bowling. Most of all she was very family oriented. Her life lessons will be treasured through future generations. Wanda was truly loved and will be dearly missed. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Wayne M. Cox; her parents, Elvy and Martha Proctor; daughter, Colleen Cox; son, Melvin Cox; her two sisters, Louise Fulgham, and Nettie Watson, all of Peralta. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Gladwell; daughters, Wayneen Cox, Arleen Hines and husband Courtney, Bonnie Faye Smith and husband, Randy; and son, Donald Wade Cox, all of Peralta; seven loving grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. BACA, DAVID F. 63, died December 21, 2013 from heart failure. Born July 28, 1950 he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vera Baca. David is survived by son, Chad; grandchildren, Alexis, Matthew, Serenity, and Gabriel; brother, Charles; sisters, Katherine and Yolanda; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; friends; and certainly not least his longtime love of 18 years, Judy. David was an electrician & member of Local 611 IBEW for over 40 years. David was gifted, having an understanding of the universe like no other. A talented artist, just one of his many gifts. David was affectionately known to many of his friends as "Too Tall". It was not uncommon to hear David singing as he knew words to so many songs. David was a gentle soul and will be missed terribly. WINSOR, DANIEL OWEN Daniel Owen Winsor, December 11, 1985 to December 21, 2013. Danny was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, and was Class of 2004 at Eldorado High School. Danny was a huge Dallas Cowboy Fan, Emmet Smith was his favorite player. He also loved to play the Madden Video Games, watching movies and spending as much time as he could with his beloved family. Danny was an outgoing person who loved to be the life of the party and he had a great sense of humor. Danny died at home; he was on his way to recovery from a stroke. Danny is survived by the love of his life, Nichole Thomas; his face would light up the minute she walked into the room. He was lucky enough to have their three children; Brooklynn, Kodey and Aryonna call him daddy. His mom and dad, Kim and Sam Poe, who love and miss him so much, there's an empty space in our hearts. Danny's grandma, Shirley and ( Alfred) DeGuio; his cousins, Krystal, Kaitlyn and Krystina Marquez. In the last two years, Danny was able to reconnect with the Winsor side of his family, and is leaving behind, Aunts and Uncles and numerous cousins who love him dearly. Danny's bull dog, Rocket, was really important to him; they were the best of friends. Danny was preceded in death by his grandpa, David Newlander and aunt, Karin Marquez. Danny will be loved and missed by his family and many friends; he touched a lot of people. We are having a life celebration on January 18, 2014, at 11 am; it will be held at Danny's church, Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112.

WIMMER, GEORGIE RAE Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend, Georgie Rae passed away on December 26th after a long illness. She was born on December 19, 1937, in Bridgeport, Nebraska, to Norval "Cotton" and Josephine Houston. Georgie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edwin Wimmer, who loved and adored her. She is survived by her sister Wanda Hill and brother Ronald Houston; her children, Ken (Kathy) Wimmer, Scott (Sheley) Wimmer, and Cathy Wimmer; grandchildren Samantha (Patrick) Sanchez, Nycole (Dustin) White, and Chelsea, Geoffrey and Connor Sweet; and great-grandchildren Andy and Alex Sanchez and Rylee White. She is also survived by stepson Chuck Wimmer and many friends and extended family. Services will be held for immediate family in Las Vegas, Nevada, where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Her family would like to thank Hospice Compassus for the care and support given to her over the last year and a half. WESTON, LOUISE MARIE Louise Marie Weston, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Michael Saul Weston; sibling Anthony Paul Casalta; son Steven Paul Weston; her daughter Marlow Ida Koprivnikar; and her granddaughter Jadyn Louise Koprivnikar. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Dominick Casalta and his wife Ida, and siblings Paul Jr. Casalta and Bernard Anthony Casalta. Louise was born February 11, 1947 in Flushing NY, and graduated from Flushing High School. She was a secretary and switchboard operator at the New York City Traffic Department. She went on to attend Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Majoring in Psychology. She then attended University of Missouri in Saint Louis where she earned her Doctor of Psychology Degree. After spending a year as a Human Factors Engineer at McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company, she was hired by Sandia National Laboratories where she worked for thirty years as an analyst in nuclear safeguards and human reliability. She retired in 2008. Louise was a woman of faith and family. She was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

WEST, BENJAMIN JAMES 75, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died December 9, 2013. He is survived by two sons, Mark West of Santa Fe and Jock West of Albuquerque; sisters Hilia Jackson (Al), Charlene Murphy and Phyllis Gelabert (Joe), all of Albuquerque; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mr. West was preceded in death by son Bruce West, parents Bennie and Dora West, and Charlie West brother. Mr. West was born to Dora and Bennie "Abenicio" West on March 4, 1938, in Gallup, New Mexico. Jim was a graduate of Gallup High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Highlands University. He dedicated his life to education, beginning his career as a teacher in Jemez Springs; serving as a school counselor at Pecos High School; operating as the Assistant State School Superintendent for Vocational Education and Director of School Accreditation for the New Mexico Department of Education. He retired as the Superintendent of Schools in Zuni, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette, (11401 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112) with a reception to follow

TRUJILLO, MATTHEW LAWRENCE Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, companion and friend, passed away in his home in the early morning of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013. He was 76 years of age. He served our country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corp at the beginning of the Vietnam War and was a Master Rifleman. He retired from the United States postal service in 1991 after 32 years of service, and being the hardworking man that he was, he immediately began working for the University of New Mexico until he retired in 2008. He was a master automotive mechanic, tinkerer and inventor. He once built an awesome go-cart using a lawnmower engine and a kitchen table and chairs. His daughters were the envy of the neighborhood. He enjoyed going to the casinos, shooting range and tinkering in his garage. He loved his family and friends and he will forever live on in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Aquiles, his brothers, Aquiles Jr., Charles, Tony, Richard, Sammy, and John Mark. He is survived by his long-time companion Mary Alice Armijo, daughters and their husbands Yolanda and Peter Sanchez and Marcella and David Meek; his grandchildren Juan Carlos Lopez, Javier Lopez, Alexis Lamb, Andrea Trujillo, Mariah Meek, Peter Sanchez, Jr., and Stephanie Sanchez; and his Great Grandchildren Isaiah Lopez, Mystique Lamb, Jordyn Sanchez, Elias Lopez, Yasmin Samji, Santine Samji, Aubree Torres, and Logan Lopez. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at six o'clock in the evening at the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel.
