UHRICH, CATHERINE Age 83, a resident of Rio Rancho for 21 years, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. She was born in Dixon, NE on October 13, 1930, to James and Rose (McGuirk) McGowen. Kitty married Larry Uhrich June 14, 1954 in Hartington, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cabrini Schillig; grandson, Andrew Shoemaker; sister Helen. Kitty is survived by her husband, Larry Uhrich; children, Joe, Terry (Tammy), Jack (Nyki), Catherine Herbert (Patrick), Ed (Gloria); 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Margaret Sudbeck, Sr. Jane McGowen, Sr. Bernadette McGowen. She was a charter member of St. John Vianney Parish and was a member of "Right to Life" in both Rio Rancho and Eau Claire, WI. Kitty loved to sew, knit and cook. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. TRAFTON, CLINTON LAVERNE Age 82, passed in his sleep on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at his home in Patagonia, AZ. He is survived by his wife Janie Lawton; sister Conita Thompson of Sun City AZ; sons, Curtis and wife Christina (Alea and Tara), Clinton Mitchell and wife Deborah (Craig and Kelly), and Clay and Sandra (Chase); along with their mother Dorothy Curtis Trafton of Corrales NM; and two great-grandchildren. Clint graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950, enlisted and served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Seattle, WA, received a BS in Electrical Engineering from UNM in 1959, a MS in Psychology from UNM in 1962, and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1965. He was a professor at Pomona College CA and University of Arizona until he retired from academia in 1980. He enjoyed his life in Tucson, AZ, woodworking, fly fishing and playing tennis, surrounded by his friends, eventually moving to Patagonia, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents Cedric and Lorraine and his second wife Sara Winter. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 20th at 9:00 am at the Patagonia Community Center. TILGNER, EDWIN E. Edwin E. Tilgner, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Thursday, July 3, 2014. He is survived by his two children, Linda Morton and husband, Monty and Mike Tilgner; and one granddaughter, Amy Morton. Mr. Tilgner was born May 13, 1927 in Evanston, WY. He was a longtime employee of Albuquerque Seismic Lab. After retirement, Mr. Tilgner volunteered at NM Museum of Natural History. He was also a private pilot most of his life and spent many hours flying his Cessna 120. Mr. Tilgner was a member of the Quiet Birdmen. STEPHENS, VERNON J. Vernon J. (Steve) Stephens died on July 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife Judith Reynolds; his four children Sherri Stephens Carter (Galen), Sue Taylor (Roger), Catherine Stephens Creamer (Will) and Kevin Stephens (Mary Eastman); ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Dona Hahn and Janet Grudzinski and brother Richard Stephens (Janice). Vern was born in Selah, Washington on July 23, 1927. He married Iris Yearous in Fort Morgan, CO on June 22, 1947. He attended the University of Wyoming and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The family moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1954, where the children all grew up and Vern worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory and Los Alamos Technical Associates. In 1990, Vern and Iris relocated to Albuquerque where Iris predeceased him in 1991. Vernon married Judith Reynolds on November 28, 2004. His family will miss his unique sense of humor and his joy in all of them. KELTON, JULIA PAULINE (POLLY) 1920-2014 Julia Pauline (Polly) Kelton, age 94, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home in Belen, New Mexico. She was born to Paul and Leona McComb on January 22, 1920, and was raised in the Manzano Mountains. On March 19, 1938, she married Tom Kelton. They worked on a ranch together outside of Chilili, New Mexico; Tom was a cowboy ranch hand and Julia cooked for all the ranch hands. In 1942 they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, as Tom got a job on the Santa Fe Railroad. Tom and Julia moved to Belen in 1965 for a job transfer where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church where she remained active for many years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom; and her daughter, Kathryn Brannon.
