SPIDELL, EVERETT DULANEY, LCDR, US NAVY (RET) Age 85, a longtime resident of Jemez Springs, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013. Born April 27, 1928 in Prescott Arizona, he is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs, Rhoda Elizabeth; his two sons and their wives Everett Dee and ShaoMei Spidell, Gary Lee and Kathe Spidell; his two daughters and their husbands Rhonda and John Whitley, Terri and Randy Pearson; his grandchildren Jake and Jenny Quicksall, Betsy Quicksall and Sean Spidell and his great-granddaughter Abby Quicksall. Everett was a WWII Vet and a retired Naval Officer who moved through the ranks due to his clever inventions and in every walk of life he was a "problem solver." A Memorial Service will be held at Jemez Springs Presbyterian Church on Sunday January 5th at 2:00 pm and on Tuesday, January 7th at 3:00 pm sharp he will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.

SMITH, PHYLLIS G. Age 73, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 31, 2013. She was born October 28, 1940; and is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Pauline Harris; her brother, Dale Harris; and her daughter, Dana Sherwood. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Gonzales and husband Lawrence Gonzales of Henderson, Nevada; daughter, Deneane Gonzales and husband Alfred Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and her seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Jacqueline, Matthew, Chelsea, Jacob, Andre, and Shay. She was a precious mother, sister, daughter, grandma, auntie and cousin, who will always be remembered as a sweet and fun-loving, caring person, who made us all laugh and enjoy her company. Her funeral service will be held, Saturday, January 4th, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, with reception immediately following.

She is survived by son, Randy (Anita) Shipman of Chandler, AZ; son, Russell Shipman of Odessa, TX; son, Jimmy Lee (Stephanie) Shipman of Aurora, CO and daughter, Marlene Bruce of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Tyler Shipman, Travis Bruce, Aaron Shipman, and Newton Maddox; granddaughters, Melinda Zamora, Nicole Bruce, and Ashley Shipman; two great-grandchildren, Celeste and Kaily Zamora; sister, Kathryn Abeyta and brother, Leo Vigil; father-in-law, Herman Harper and numerous other family and friends. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Marlan Shipman and her parents, Frank and Leila Mae Vigil. Sarah was born and raised in Tucumcari, NM. She and her husband owned and operated KT Jewelers for 25 years. She loved animals and crafts. Sarah was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. SERNA, RUDDY A. Age 54, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013. Ruddy was known to everyone as a family man and always gave more than he took. He would lend you a hand, or a shoulder to cry on. He gave his all every moment of everyday and would move mountains for anyone in need. Ruddy always brought smiles to a room, with his corny jokes and contagious laughter; every stranger became a friend. He had a passion for guns and a love for his country and was proud to be a United States Marine. He will remain in our hearts, as we will in his. Semper Fi, Daddy. Oorah! He served honorably in the US Navy and retired from Roadway Trucking and Teamsters Local 492. ROMERO, DAVID L. Age 66, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, 12-29-2013 after a battle with cancer. He graduated from Valley High in Albq. He served in the Navy from 1964 - 1968 during the Vietnam War. He also worked for the Albuquerque Fire Department for several years. David was respectful, humble, and kind. He devoted several recent years to learning the bible with an aspiration of getting closer to God. He selflessly loved and cared for both his parents during their final years. He is survived by daughters, Barbara Romero and Christian Romero; brothers Art, Vic, Mike, and Dean; as well as many other loving family members and friends. David was preceded in death by his brother Kenny Romero; father Arthur Romero; and his mother Mary Palladini Romero. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the New Mexico Veterans' Memorial, located at 1100 Louisiana Blvd Albuquerque, NM on Sunday January 5th, 2014 from 12:30-3pm. David was loved and respected by many, and he will be greatly missed.

QUINN, RONALD (RONNIE) HAROLD Age 47, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in El Paso, TX. He was born in Deming, NM on February 26, 1966, to Harold and Carmen Rosas Quinn. Ronnie's family moved to Socorro in 1969 where his parents bought the Brownbilt store and owned it for many years. He graduated from Socorro High School in 1984 and attended college in California and New Mexico. Ronnie's love for New Mexico and his roots to his family and friends brought him back to Socorro in 1991. While living in Socorro, he worked for National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and White Sands Missile Range which eventually led him to his current profession as a Technology Specialist. He enjoyed golfing, jogging, mountain biking and riding his motorcycle. Ronnie loved his family and his two dogs, Trevy and Tucker. He also enjoyed his frequent trips to California where a lot of his mother's family lives. Ronnie was a very caring person and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Ronnie is survived by his parents; his three children, Jordan, Devin, and Arnette and their mother, Cindy; his brother, Richard and wife, Maria and their children, Catalina, Dominique and Matthew. MINTON, SILAS J. JR. Age 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. He was born on August 30, 1942 to Silas and Irene (Quinn) Minton of Phoenix, AZ. He proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He was licensed to operate a vessel up to 100 tons in the open ocean. He will be remembered for his love of traveling, fishing, military history, and race car driving. Mr. Minton is survived by his wife of 13 years, Stacey (Conviser) Minton, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Anna Marie Minton-Jennings of Livermore, CA, grandson, Shane Jennings, and Silas J.
