Obituary for BENSON

BENSON, ELLEN MARIE Ellen, age 38, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2014, after a courageous two year battle with breast cancer. She died peacefully in the arms of her beloved husband, Walt. Ellen is survived by her husband of 13 years, Walt; her children, Orion, Alana and Marek; her parents, Trish Sandager, and John and Susie Sandager; three brothers, Brian Sandager and his wife, Amber, Chris Sandager, and Smith Weber; and other loving relatives and lifelong friends. Ellen was an amazing individual. Growing up with horses, she competed as a young girl in several rodeos. In high school, she found joy on stage in the Drama department. Ellen majored in Elementary Education in college, eventually earning her Master's Degree from the University of New Mexico. It was during her time in college, after taking electives in photography and darkroom development, that a love for photography began, which would eventually lead to her photography business. After college, she worked as a teacher at Albuquerque Public Schools, Western Michigan University, and Rio Rancho Public Schools, where she received the Teacher of the Year award. Interspersed throughout all of her education and teaching jobs, Ellen backpacked her way through Europe, raised funds for numerous charities, co-founded a book club, kayaked the rivers of Maine, volunteered her time to non-profit organizations, homeschooled her children, survived a blizzard in a hand-carved snow cave, and made a hopeless young man so very, very happy. Other interests included backpacking, camping, scuba diving, yoga, walking, pilates, knitting, quilting, sewing, and reading. She touched so many lives, constantly giving to others with love and kindness, yet always maintaining a sense of humor that could make the coldest soul smile. But above all of this, her greatest passion and joy in life was found in being a mom. Near the end of her life, her doctors had asked if she wanted to stop treatment due to its devastating effects on her body and she simply said she would never stop fighting if it meant she could possibly spend one more moment with her children. And she never did! A celebration of Ellen's life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Blvd NE. Private burial will take place at a later date. Flowers may be delivered to Hoffmantown Church. However, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to The Ellen Benson Memorial Fund, c/o New Covenant Church, 7201 Paseo Del Norte NE, 87113 or www.nccabq.org. Obituary for PIMENTEL

PIMENTEL, AGUSTIN Agustin Pimentel, a Master Guitar Maker, passed away Monday, February 24th of an aneurysm. He is a member of the famous guitar makers established by the late Lorenzo Pimentel in 1951. Agustin was a dedicated Luthier and gave back to the community and his family always helping and making sure that his families were safe and if they were in need of even the smallest of things he was there to care for them. Agustin loved to innovate along with his brothers Rick, Robert and Victor in building a better instrument by redesigning the bracing system and/or the look and shape of the guitar. He strived in building the best guitar he could possibly build. He loved working alongside his brothers and always made suggestions to make our work load easier. His hobby was learning to play the guitar like his brothers Hector and Gustavo, classical guitarists. He learned to play it well especially when he played music on a guitar he just finished. He also loved helping in the Pimentel Concert series that are a tribute to the late Lorenzo Pimentel and an honor to their mother Josefina Pimentel. His eyes lit up just knowing he was helping the family to make these concerts successful. Agustin built many guitars and his soul will be heard through the music that is played on his guitars. People from all over the world really love Agustin`s modest since of humor and enjoyed his smile and trusted and listened to his ideals when he spoke of whatever subject they would bring up. There was a poem written about a guitar Agustin built which is what Agustin`s soul reflects, " My Lady Pimentel"--" Evening-Day is drawing down, the horizon flee, bringing starlight to our skies, while you speak softly to me, your breath, warm and fragrant in my ear. This is the magic hour, when two hearts beat each to each, and so entwined become that where one stops, and the other begins, is just a mystery" The Pimentel Family is extremely shattered and saddened to misbelief of his sudden death. The family feels as if each and everyone of them has lost their right arm. Agustin is survived by son, Jaime Tiggs and wife Jennifer; three grandchildren: Mariah, Daniel and Kayla; mother, Josefina Garnica Pimentel; brothers: Carlos Garnica and wife Maria, Hector Pimentel and wife Carol, Rick Pimentel and wife Jean, Robert Pimentel and wife Elizabeth, Victor Pimentel and wife Paula, Larry Pimentel, and Gustavo Pimentel; sisters: Zoyla Nuanez and husband George, Maricela, and Aida. Agustin's Life Celebration will begin with a viewing at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, (San Mateo and Phoenix NE) on Friday at 6:15 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Mass will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m., also at Queen of Heaven followed by Committal at Fairview Memorial Park.
